  1. I believe FAB defense makes such a mount. I think they are distrubuted/marketed under the Mako group in the US. Don't know how well they work though.
  2. I have been using my CR Speed belts (I have several) for many years and have not had any problems with the gear or the company. I might add that during the time frame that was mentioned, the South African Postal Services experienced a lenghty postal workers strike that lasted for more than 4 months and which just about crippled the postal service as a whole. Many orders from many companies never reached their destinations although being sent on time. I would not be surprised if the strike affected your order.
  3. I have decided to go 9mmP/Minor at the IPSC World Shoot in Florida later this year. My reasons are as follows: In IPSC 9 rounds may be shot from a position. That effectively leaves the major gun at slidelock and with no extra shots or fill in shots. If the next positions also requires 9 rounds, it means 2 mag changes. With IPSC rules requiring a ratio of 3 short, 2 medium and 1 long course for matches, there will be many more short courses that require between 9 and 12 rounds. Those extra cartridges could be very valuable to avoid standing reloads. Although I take a hit in scoring, I am much better at calling shots with the minor gun than the major gun and can place my shots much more accurately at speed with the softer recoiling gun. I will aim to shoot 90%+ of the available score on each stage. That should still keep me competitive accuracy wise. The last factor is shooter fatigue. After 2 days of shooting the major gun, I start to suffer from tendonitis and my scores and shooting is affected. I dont have the same problem when shooting the 9mmP. The WS will be 4 days of shooting and in my mind 4 days of consistent shooting will easily beat 3 days of substandard shooting. I might be completely wrong...
  4. I don't like all the rules, but I really like some of the people I shoot IDPA with. For that reason alone I will still shoot IDPA and abide by the rules, just as I have to abide by the rules of any other sport I choose to play. Every game has its problems and "less liked" rules. As my Drill Instructor used to say; You don't have to like it, you just have to do it. At least here you have the choice of NOT doing it at all. Its just a game with rules, same as any other game with rules. I will not let one or two rules I don't agree with spoil the great times I have competing with friends at the range.
  5. I am considering getting a Ruger Speed Six with a 2.75" barrel for SSR. It will probably not be optimal as it has fixed sights and a short sight radius, but I just love the look and feel of them, and SSR gives me a reason to own one again
  6. Boy, oh boy! A line is drawn in the sand... Now will the challenge be accepted? I'm half a world away in South Africa and glued to my screen...
  7. I have 2 CZ75's and many of my friends have Shadow's. The older 75's(pre-90's) were not always as accurate due to barrel internal dimension differences, but boy oh boy, these new Shadows can shoot! Very few people will be able to even get close to the accuracy potential of the normal Shadows. One of our local PPC High Masters imported a specialy tuned and fitted Sig X5 Competition specifically to shoot PPC with. He paid an astronomical price for this custom shop Sig and shot a couple of Personal Best scores with it. He then bought a Shadow for IPSC and for a laugh shot it at a PPC event and matched his best ever score with the custom Sig 1st time out! The Accu-Shadows are reputed to be even more accurate, but I doubt that most shooters will be able to out shoot the standard Shadow.
  8. Made Master in CDP on Saturday. 2nd Classifier I've ever shot, but have been shooting IPSC for a couple of years. Just missed MA in SSP/ESP shooting my carry gun, a G34. Dropped too many points on string 3... Will get it next time
  9. Replace the flat insert (for S_I) with the insert marked "BER/CZ" for the 226 mags.
  10. A wonderful 2014 to all on the Forum! Thank you to our host and all of you that contribute. It really is a wonderful resource and treasure trove of information to us fellows from other countries who do not always have access to all the wonderful toys and incredible gunsmiths that you guys have in the USA. I have, and continue to, learn so much from everybody here and my own shooting and knowledge of "the shooting games" have improved by leaps and bounds from info gained from all of you. My 2014 shooting goal is to compete at the IPSC World Shoot in Florida later this year, and a lot of what I have gained and learned from all of you on this site have helped me on the way to realizing my dream. So thanks again, and may all your dreams and goals also come true in 2014! May we all shoot faster and miss less!
  11. I use the CR Speed with SS spacer. As stated previosuly, it moves the mag away from the body without exceeding the maximum alloed distance. The big adjustment knob also helps to quickly adjust the pouch to the amount of tension required for the stage. Very happy with mine.
  12. I read on another shooter's blog that the folks at IDPA HQ is busy revising the BUG rules to get the division more "inline" with actual BUG's. The "Ultimate" may be something completely different next time.
  13. I jump around between CDP with a 1911 and ESP, with again a 1911, but in 9mmP, so at least the platform remains about the same. Have shot my G34, my actual every day carry gun, in SSP a couple of times just to get some trigger time in. Have fun and been competitive with all 3.
  14. Eric is just amazing and I agree that he would probably dominate just about every and any division he decides to participate in. For Second best, I think there are a couple of contenders and I base my nominations on the results from the 2013 USPSA National Division Matches and US IPSC Nationals. This year was interesting since it gave a couple of shooters a chance to compete in just about all the divisions available. Top of the heap FOR ME would be: Nils Jonasson, followed by Dave Sevigny/TGO. Max mostly dominated OPEN, but wasn't as consistent in the IRON sights divisions. TGO had an incredible showing in every match he attended, and taking into account his age and all the years competing, is in my mind probably the greatest all round shooter we will ever see. He still remains a thread in any match he enters. I expect great things from Nils in the years to come and Dave continues to build on his already great career. Its always difficult to say who is "the best", or even 2nd, but there certainly is no shortage of contenders! It is exiting times in our sport with so many extrodinary shooters and I can't wait to see what will happen at the IPSC World Shoot next year.
  15. Anybody have any experience or feedback on the Iver Johnson 1911's? Seen them advertised in the gun magazines, but have no hands on experience myself. Seems to have all the nice bells and whistles and might make a lower cost starter or project gun. Would like to know if they are worth having a look at?
  16. CR Speed for me. A CORRECTLY setup CR Speed has more retention than any of the other holsters mentioned, but it seems like everyone tries to set up the holster too light or incorrectly to gain an "advantage"... I've seen 2 instances where a small piece of dirt/grit in one of the other holsters mentioned required the gun to be removed by having to physically break the holster body from the gun.
  17. And for revolver Im thinking a Ruger Speed-Six with 23/4" barrel or the short SP101.
  18. So the S&W BUG Nationals has just been concluded. The gamer in me cant resist... What would be the Ultimate BUG Gun to shoot in order to get the most competitive advantage? I am looking at buying myself a smaller carry gun that will also fit in with BUG rules. Im thinking: SA 3.8 XDM S&W M&P9c S&W Shield (would prefer larger capacity) Glock 26 CZ 75 Compact What say you?
  19. CR Speed also makes a their "Non skid" magwell for a Para.
  20. Thank you for the info and quick reply!
  21. Reviving a VERY old necro thread that never got an answer, since I also need to know. Got a Colt S70 9mmP Combat Commander coming and will have to replace all the springs since it still has all the original springs in there. What weight Recoil spring should I start with? And does it use a Commander lentgh only spring? Thanks in advance!
  22. I normally compete with 1911's, but carry a Glock 34. Shoot the 34 at least once or twice a month and have never had any problems adapting.
  23. Nope, no max weight, but gun and mag must fit in the Standard gun box. From the IPSC rule book. Classic division: 1. Minimum power factor for Major 170 2. Minimum power factor for Minor 125 3. This concession expires 31 December 2014. 21. This Division is under evaluation and, unless extended, it will expire on 31 December 2014.
  24. Only classified in CDP, but have shot a club match or two unclassified in ESP using a 9mm 1911 setup the same as my CDP 1911. I intend to classify in SSP and ESP at the next Classifier in my area. Gonna try for the 3 gun Master title. SSR looks like a ton of fun and I will defnitely have to give it a try at least once. Just need to get everything setup correctly for the GP100.
