Hi guys,
I'm a fairly new competition shooter, having shot a few IDPA matches and a single USPSA match with my M&P9, SSP in IDPA and Production in USPSA. I've been fiddling with the idea of dropping a magwell onto my gun and shooting Limited 10 (minor). I know I'll get my clock cleaned by the guys shooting fancy 1911 types, but I get the floor wiped with me shooting in production anyway, so I'm utterly unconcerned about this. I've also read about 9mm major, but I don't know if the gun could handle it and considering I haven't seen any pistol powder in ages, reloading for it probably just isn't going to happen right now.
I'm curious if there exists such a thing as a slip on base pad extension. The M&P 10rnd neuter mags use a compact tube with an extended basepad. Since I live in Massachusetts, I can't use anything bigger than a 10 rounder in one of these, so the usual route of adding a basepad that adds more capacity is a nonstarter. I could sell it and buy a glock or shoot a 1911 or something, but I'd rather just use this. Does such a thing exist? I've thought about maybe sticking some sugru or something on the basepad to extend it, but I'm not sure how that'd hold up.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Sean
