  1. I much prefer my CR Speed over any pouch style holster. Had to use a Blade tech for IDPA last weekend. Wished for and missed that CR Speed holster on every draw!
  2. CR Speed has a revolver holster.
  3. "And in competition the velocity difference of the 40 vs 45 can mean the difference between an "A" and a "C" on moving targets. " MT:I also think light rails should be allowed, and my "practice more" statement was aimed at the OP's comment above. I do believe that the light rail provision will be changed in the next rule book, but I also understand that IPSC didn't just want to create a "limited capacity Standard gun division". I personally think the rules are working well and have seen a lot of growth in the division.
  4. I shoot IPSC Classic with a .45 ACP. I also own a 1911 in 9mmP and will be using the minor gun for all my practice and smaller matches for the rest of the year. Main reason will be to save on costs. .45 brass is difficult to find and very expensive in South Africa. Bullets, even the plain LRN I use, are almost twice the price of 9mm bullets. LPP are more expensive and harder to find than SPP. The minor gun is a ton of fun to shoot and the 2 extra rounds are a bonus. I know I won't be as competitive as when shooting major, but I am willing to take the scoring penalty to continue shooting. In these days of baggage limits, it will be a lot easier to fly with enough 9mmP ammo than with .45 ammo. Keep the option of allowing different calibers. Each caliber has its own pro's and con's. Give shooters the option to decide what suits them better. If you don't like beaten by other calibers, practice more.
  5. I occasionaly have the same problem with my GS. I had it sensitized, but it would still happen every once in a while if I got the grip wrong on the draw. I found a easy fix by sticking a small piece of grip tape on the "memory bump" of the GS. It has just enough "bite" in the hand to ensure that the GS always gets deactivated.
  6. Shooting this match is a dream of mine, and on my bucket list. Good luck and good shooting to all those who will be attending!
  7. I shoot a .45 in IPSC Classic div and in NPA Police pistol and Service pistol, as well as PPC events. Gun is sigted POA=POI @ 25m. For me it is shoots POI=POA at 10m. There should be no difference or no more than 2cm at the worst.
  8. Thank you for the insights provided in this thread. I applied these principles to my own shooting and mental management programme over the weekend and it defnitely helped me to place 1st Overall in my division at our National Championships.
  9. In South Africa the shooters also patch and reset everything.
  10. Shady: No harm, no foul. We each have our own opinions and preferences, and I am happy for it, otherwise this old World would be a rather boring old place.
  11. Shadyscott: please read "my opinion" and "when properly set up". Your post does not respect either of these statements or add anything to the relevance or advancement to the OP. You are entitled to your opinion and so am I, but let us at least try to add something to the post. Ekuj: Again, In my opinion, the fact that I can still draw the gun from the holster, when I forget to remove the lock is a bonus. To me not being able to remove the gun from the holster without using force/tools if something goes wrong with the holster is not.
  12. I have been using the CR Speed for many years. The CR is the only holster with 3 bearing points, and properly adjusted, is in my opinion the most secure and has the most consistent draw. If you feel your CR is not holding the pistol/revolver securely, I can just about guarantee that it is NOT setup properly. A quick email to Rescomp will help you fix the "problem" in short order. I saw a pistol get stuck in one of the other mentioned holsters due to a small amount of dirt getting stuck in the block/wedge. Luckily it wasn't loaded. Holster body had to be broken apart with tools to remove the gun.
  13. 1st Classifier - shot Exp in CDP. Was gunning for Master, but a silly mistake, death jam on one of the strings and some brian fade cost me. Will get it next time! Once I get MA in CDP, I will try for MA in ESP and SSP as well. Haven't shot a match yet, just did the NSO and Classifier.
  14. Prado, I can understand how you feel about waiting for scores and not being able to wait for them to be posted. After many years of shooting and recently having to do the scoring for my local club I now understand why it can sometimes take a bit of time. Scoring is a huge and meticulous job, and as such is very time consuming. Since most (all) of us in RSA, and most other places in the world, do this for fun and the love of the sport, we have our day jobs that take first priority. I receive at least two emails the very next day after our monthly club shoot inquiring about the results. Please remember that the scorers are normally shooters too, and in most cases are also the guys and gals who organise and build the stages, and have to pack all the equipment away at the end of the day. After a day like that we all need to just sit on the couch, relax and spend some time with our families, just the same as you most likely do. The day after the shoot is normally reserved for a bit of family time or allready commited to all those things that needs to be done at home. Most guys doing the scoring do it as soon as they have a bit of free time. Sometimes that might only be late at night during the week following the event. Sometimes life, family and work commitments intervene and the scoring can only be done a bit later in the week or even the week after. Remember these guys/gals do not get paid for this, and do it at the expense of time you get to spend on other things. So have a bit of patience and some understanding and next time you see the person doing the scoring make sure to say "thank you" and buy him/her a beer.
  15. Proudprado: FYI- Both the books are available at Rescomp in Pta.
  16. I have been competing in IPSC in South Africa since 1997. The sport is alive and growing! IDPA has grown remakably in the last couple of years and IPSC has steadily been gaining ground as well. We have CR Speed and Frontier bullets situated and developed proudly in SA. I have just joined IDPA myself and will be doing my NSO and first Classifier this Saturday. We have some really good shooters in SA and great shooting weather.
  17. " How do you say,"Howdy y'all" in African?" That would be " Hoezit, my broer!" in Brakpan, "More, Boet" in most other Afrikaans towns, "Aweh, my broertjie" in the Western Cape and "Sawubona, Baba" in Zulu.
  18. The fact that I can still draw the gun from the CR holster when my dumbass forgot to take the lock off is a bonus to me. Not to slam the DAA, just make sure no dirt or dust gets in the holster body. Had an instance where some dirt got blown in between the trigger block/wedge and holster body. Had to remove the gun by dismantling (read breaking) the holster body. Luckily the gun wasn't loaded. Horses for courses, each to his own and all that...
  19. I still prefer th CR Speed over all others. The "secret" to the CR is that it needs to be setup correctly for YOUR gun. Its the only holster that have 3 points of contact on the gun and properly setup has ZERO retention issues. If you have problem with your CR speed, email the friendly people at Rescomp and they will gladly assist you via return email.
  20. +1 on the supplements posted by Pensfan. They also work well for me. With regards to training: I am an International level amateur bodybuilder and train hard and heavy 6 days a week. I have bad knee issues and have found that squats do more damage than anything else. Especially during the days after LEG DAY. After many years of experimenting I have found that medium weight and higher reps allows me to keep the legs growing and prevents further damage to the knees. Instead of regular squats, I do a reverse Hack squat (hack squat done facing the machine). I have also found that the stop/start of shooting hurts my knees more than the gym work. I have started to wear neoprene knee guards while shooting. It keeps the knees warm and flexible, and for me at least, reÐuce the next day pain considerably.
  21. Email Tazio at Rescomp/CR Speed for instruction. You will probably also have to adjust the white screw in the holster body for a proper fit and this alone may currently be your problem. Tazio [tazio@rescomp.co.za] Tazio or the folks at CR Speed will also be able to advise you on the spacers needed.
  22. I use the CR Speed WSM II. Its legal for IPSC Classic division, has lots of adjustment to fit your draw style and physique, can be adjusted to fit just about any model of firearm, and is very fast.
  23. After a long lay off, I used this drill yesterday as part of journey back to some semblance of my former abilities. Learned a lot of stuff that i "know" but so easily tend to forget. Was a real help in tracking the sights, calling the shot and propper trigger control. Great drill! Pm sent for part 2!

    Px4 FS

I found that FOR ME the PX4 easily out shot my 92FS. Even with the fat front sight I scored much better on accuracy intensive NPA type events and also shot a much better PPC score, easier with it. No problems with accuracy on all the department guns I tested. Did see a tendency for all of the guns to shoot slightly below POA, but accuracy was stellar.
  25. My vote goes for the CR Speed. Great holster.
