  1. Magpul announced a 170. I am not sure they exist in the wild though. 27 rounds. Spring 2018. $21 ETS also.
  2. I have been shooting better with a slower cadence. I will repeat the cadence in my head before shooting. That of course allows the sight to be where its supposed to be.
  3. I had one that I contemplated milling. Ended up selling it and buying a Tac. RIA may be able to do that for you. The stock magwell and the unmilled frame were not a perfect match. I am learning how to run a mill, not confident enough yet.
  4. Bmiller, online storefront or PM?

    RIA Open Gun

The Ultra Match frame (no pic rail) seems like a great start for that project but only offered in 40 currently. Too much smithing or a new top end takes the “cheap” out of the project. Watching the video they are using a railed “tac” frame. A new barrel and comp plus optics on the UM frame might get you in the game under 2k but a used gun could get you there too. Looking at some of Kneeling Atlas’ projects on Tanfoglios, you could probably tap the barrel by hand for the ultimate cheap build. I have two RIA and I love them ( actually 3 with a SS trade) so I am speaking with favor, but just mentioning $. The video is credited to Arnel who is Armscor’s Master Gunsmith. I have read a few reviews of his work on 1911.com years ago. I also noticed MBX mags which have made RIA more competitive ( as have Taylor Freelance mag extensions for mec gar mags).
  6. It will require milling the frame to fit.
  7. I just received a "plus one" extension for 20 round Promag. It is a CZ-UB manufactured item imported by Armory Craft. It offers ample space in the gauge, about 3mm short, looks good and easy to install, uses a set screw to keep it from sliding off. I am getting 27 in which should be reloadable as it will take about 27.5 rounds. I tried a "plus two" which required milling several mm off the bottom which destroyed its function. Promag about $25, Grams spring and follower about $18, Basepad about $32, = $75.
  8. Sorry, I am speaking of the Dawson Tall Rear fixed sight for the RIA. If you want to try that let me know. https://dawsonprecision.com/rock-island-1911-novak-style-carry-fixed-black-rear-sights/
  9. The reason I bought a cheap gun was to tinker with it.
  10. The market is ripe for the "build a bear" handgun. I would buy one if they are not junk.
  11. Tall or short? I bought the tall first and it was too tall, short worked fine with stock height front.

    CO mags

I know the CZ Custom Long base pads are for the 16 round factory mags to make 140mm. That being said I don't know for the Mec Gar 16 round mags. Most of the aftermarket pads seem to be designed around the Mec Gar 17 round mags.
  13. I am assuming you want Plus 5 basepads? To be honest Glock mags are dead reliable in most cases. You could probably shoot limited successfully with one extended pad and stock mags or mags with Glock plus 2 pads. Buy more as you can afford it. I just read this is in Multigun but the advice still applies.
  14. AIM is $100 bucks. If it breaks I will buy another. Thats my perceived warranty.
  15. I think that addition to the market will make the RIA slightly more popular for competition.
  16. One of the few bits of logic that is obvious to her.
  17. We drive my truck on trips etc. she wants a new car but when you own the thing and it will go another 18 yrs...
  18. Wifes 2000 is at 140k, only one repair in 18 years. We are going to give it to my kid as her first car later this year.
  19. I think they are trying to have competitors with like equipment compete with one another and walk the prize table based on division finishes. Its not the trophy for everyone.
  20. One of the points mentioned at last years Cedar Valley Multigun (a recent convert to UMG) was that you need to rethink the overall winner concept and have division winners. Change of paradigm.
