  1. You’d have to shoot it from a holster that covers the trigger, and use 170mm magazines. Could still run afoul of 5.1.10. Edit: and weak hand only stages would be tough!
  2. I wasn’t listing extremes! I’m sure it gets hotter than 100 there in July, just like it gets colder here than -20.
  3. You get used to it. Just like July temps in AZ I imagine. I’ll take -20 over 100 any time.
  4. And getting colder here! Forecasting 44 below next weekend. Keeps the cheechakos away. I need to go visit family in AZ.
  5. It sure couldn’t be worse! My Lyman trigger scale only goes to 12 pounds and it’s heavier than that! Trying to decide the best route to fix it, finances considered.
  6. So the factory disconnector fit the JP trigger unmodified? I checked with a couple of brands of AR triggers and it wouldn’t. The VR80 disconnector is considerably thicker and won’t fit the slot.
  7. I have...some choices for each role, but I currently carry and compete with a STI Eagle 2011 .40. I found when I competed heavily with a different gun, I had significantly less confidence in my carry gun, despite them being quite similar. So I made them the same, although there are obvious compromises for each role. That being said, I still do carry my Commander .45 a fair amount. Very pleased with the Eagle. It’s been perfectly reliable for 2000+ rounds now, with a mix of factory defensive jhp, factory fmj, and long handloads. It works with every one of the 8 STI mags I’ve tried in it, no tuning necessary at all. Not too bad to carry either, although I do notice the bulkier grip. Now I need an identical backup for it.
  8. My search skills are apparently lacking. Where can I find these minutes?
  9. I’m happy with mine! Running them on a CMMG Guard upper so I removed the ejector. I think it’s the only way to go for an SBR that you’re swapping calibers on often.
  10. There was a fair amount of discussion a while back. People were trying hole saws on extensions, or filing teeth into the end of a piece of conduit etc. I only tried Blue Bullets, and there was build up. I got most of it out with some copper wool wrapped around a 12 ga bore brush. I could see it being a problem if you shoot a lot.
  11. It’s an SBR. I just like the gun better. PCC is a “just for fun” division for me, and SBRs are fun! I built the ULW too light I think. You will still get coated bullet build up inside the shroud of an ULW. There are various techniques people use to get it out, discussed here somewhere. Builds up significantly though.
  12. I have an 8” CMMG Guard, and a Taccom ULW. I find the Taccom stays in the safe now.
  13. My Tactical Solutions upper is my favorite .22. Runs standard velocity great. I have a S&W M&P 15-22 also.
  14. We just got one of these in the gun store where I work part time. It is very nice indeed. Unfortunately the price tag is too.
  15. I’ve always used my range bag as a carry on. I just make certain I completely empty it first. I’ve never washed it. It has been swabbed for residue. Never a problem.
  16. I own an early S&W 1911. It was my first 1911. While it has been pretty reliable, I would not be likely to buy another. I have come to prefer internal extractors and Series 70 lockwork. I would look to Springfield Armory or Dan Wesson now. Or perhaps a used Les Baer.
  17. No reasonable RM would give a penalty in this instance. There is provision in the rules that someone with only one functioning hand does not have to switch without penalty. You’ve complied as best you are able. Especially in a bigger match though, should probably discuss with RM before shooting per 10.2.10. Now we’re drifting off topic.
  18. After reading so many reports that comps do no good, I decided that the only ones worth trying have only top ports. No side ports at all. I only found four, iirc. Some were very expensive and ugly to boot. Too pricey for probably marginal benefit. I went with the short Taccom. Small, tidy, inexpensive. It does seem to help on my 8” Guard.
  19. I put mine at 9:00. It’s there to serve as a hand stop for my 8” SBR. Rarely turn it on. I haven’t smashed it yet.
  20. Might want to check out CMMG Guard .45. Uses large frame Glock mags. Delayed blowback is factory rated for .45 Super if you want more power on occasion. I can’t say if it will meet your 1moa expectations.
  21. I noticed this right away, first day out. Annoyingly obvious. I haven’t noticed it with any of my other dots. Reserving judgement though, still pretty happy with it.
