Have you made a recent S&W purchase and everything was good?
TonyH replied to Religious Shooter's topic in Revolver Forum
As the originator of the "other" thread, I have purchased quite a few recent manufactured S&W revolvers that are great, Normallt I purchased from a local gun shop where i can inspect the firearm, in the case of my 929 I purchased it from an out of state distributor and could not inspect it before purchase. If your local GS will allow you to properly inspect the gun here are a few tips. Take six empty resized cases all the same brand with you, load them in the cylinder and check the timing by slowly pulling the trigger and look to make certian the cylinder bolt locks up before the hammer falls, I normally put a slight drag on the cyllinder by resting my thumb against it. Also take a set of feeler gauges with you and check the gap between the empty case and the firing pin recoil shield .007 inches is perfect and .012 is acceptable, check this for each cylinder, they shoild all be within .002 inches. Next check the gap between the barrel and cylinder .003 is good .04 is ideal and anything over .008 is too much, you should check both sides as some of the newer guns have as much as .005 differnce, this is definately not good. Next do a visual inspectiion are their any mars in the finish, does the barrel look line it is on straight, If everything checks out chances are you will not have any problems witht he gun, I see the GS have 10 in stock check as many as you can untill you find the one you like best, Same problem with timing. 5 cylinders in time 3 out. Terrible for something that came out of the custom shop. -
I also like the 773 for the same exact reasons for multi-gun. I do still use 771 for pistol matches.

Replace the lifter spring & that should slove the problem.

New USPSA Abandonment Rule
TonyH replied to StealthyBlagga's topic in Multi-gun Rules / Stage Design / Match Administration
Okay i'll throw this out there. What about when AD's happen while RO's are unloading a previous ditched safe weapon, for the sake of saving time. Seen it happen 3 different times at 3 different matches over the years. -

Novsake 16" barrel with rifle length gas system?
TonyH replied to kimberacp's topic in Rifle - Technical
I ran a 16" rifle length gas for several years when I was with DPMS & never had any problems shooting 55 gr. Blitz Kings at 3150. It would shoot under 2" at 300 yds. Still have 2 of them & both are great shooters. Only problem I ever ran into, is when I put a titanium carrier in it. Then it started to not cycle properly, changed back to a standard carrier & problem solved. Shooting a JP 18" now with rifle length gas. It always works no matter what carrier is in it. Currently running a Rubber City Armory low mass carrier. -

Looks like your tube spring may be weak & not allowing the rounds to come back enough to allow the lifter to raise. It could also be the lifter spring has become weak, just like a Benelli will sometimes. Does it happen towards the end of the string, when there is less tension on the tube? If so, I bet it's a weak spring.
