  1. Bob, I never purchased my 327 3" barrel for IDPA. it is a true carry gun. My gun purchases don't revolve around IDPA and its wishful thinking and its perception of the real world. If Bill does not make the final decisions on the rules, then the lunatics are running the asylum, which looking at the stupid rules that are made is very possible.
  2. all it would take is a simple omission of that line the rule book to run them in ESP or SSP since big bad Bill doesn't want to let the 6+ revo's run is ESR or SSR. simple does not appear to be in IDPA's dictionary or common sense for that matter.
  3. first line of SSP, CDP, and ESP equipment rules say, only semi-auto guns allowed. don't want to get the bottom feeders upset from being beat by a revo I guess
  4. Tim, the las cruces range, even the Albuquerque range does not have the equipment or bays, or RO support to host the area II match and get any wear near what Rio puts on. St George is the only range in Area II that has to comes close to Rio and when the Nationals happens there. the RO's are pooled from across the nation. Rio has a dedicated pool of RO's who wait in line to help with the matches all year long.
  5. pack it full of colgate toothpaste (original white stuff) and dry fire it for several days. clean it out and put your normal lube in it to polish out he mating surfaces. put a spring kit in it of your choice.
  6. if you can get on of the 3" 627 and change out the steel cylinder to titanium, then you will have a nice all around gun. I carry mine, when coyote hunting with some bird shot shells 7-1/2 and with some 125 gr gold dot ammo or 158gr gold dot, depending on the area I'm in, mountains or flats. all my ammo is hand loaded. if I'm hunting deer which is rare for me these days, i'll use all the above plus 180gr LBT hard cast bullets. nice thing is all you have to do is open the cylinder an index to the load you want to use.
  7. kind of like the old single stack society scoring system. uses the Enos hit factor scoring
  8. I threw the numbers in the JBL ballistics and with the hornady 147 gr xtp at 975 fps factory load with a 15 yard zero, 1" high sight offset. it has 2988.3 inches of drop (83.00 yards) with 516 FPS, travel time is 4.411 seconds at 1000 yards.
  9. I leave the powder with a cortex inhibitor on the top of the measure to keep the moisture out of the powder
  10. use the flat seater. if you use the cupped seater, any variation in the bullet nose will show up while seating the bullet. I have made a set of steel cylinders made to different lengths, and when I change my seating depth, I use the cylinders and seat the adjuster tight against it. another thing to watch out for is lead build up on the seater. and the last thing to check would be to make sure the shell plate bolt is tight.
  11. being a revo shooter, I will on occasion taken a new primer and case, and will spray it with a little WD-40 and see how hard my trigger job is hitting a primer. I've had a couple occasions where the primer will ignite. very loud in a little garage, so I will put some plugs in when I do it.
  12. a penalty is 3 seconds. don't be scared to point out there mistakes and give a explanation why they scored it like they did. if you are advancing on a target in the open and it is in the stage description, then round dump, and do a reload in the open, while you go to cover. it's legal and in the rule book. use the rules to your advantage.
  13. the 627 not dash barrel on gun broker will have to be turned down on the forcing cone end to fit the 627-1 on up guns.. also that barrel should be a 5.5"
  14. RePete, It would be great to shoot my 627 in other divisions. but the rules say semiautomatics only for SSP, ESP, CDP. I'm a rule bender to the max, therefore I know the rule book and how to use it to my advantage.
  15. if you can shoot a xdm it ESR, I should be able to shoot my snubi 627 for sure.
  16. I like to take my worn out small primer 45 brass and dump it on the range after the desert classic. no, I don't do that, I put it in a bag and leave it on the tables behind bays 3 and 4. worn out brass for me is when it starts pulling excesivly. Bubbers right, it takes me about .5 grains more to make the same velocity as large pistol brass If I ever run a 45 again for the western state single stack, ill use the worn out small brass for it.
  17. it measures from the front of the cylinder to the front of barrel and you measure from inside of the barrel. just run the gun as is. Its up to IDPA to measure the gun and they will only do it at a major match. you can swap a barrel if need be. nobody has a S&W parts# book and all the dimensions, not even S&W know what is out their, much less the people at Arkansas who try and make rules and tell use what type of guns we carry in the real work. (I carry a 627 with a 3" barrel in real life, but IDPA says I can't carry a real world carry gun for there matches) most of the tech inspections are done by people that marginally know how a semi auto functions and what to look for when inspecting them, much less a revo.
  18. with the current rules, your best bet would be on practicing on doing a fast flatfooted reload. at the local club that I shoot at, the time between the experienced shooters (3 of us) and the regular IDPA shooters has closed up since the new rules have come out, the points down advantage goes to use also, as we tend to be able to shoot more accurate then they can at speed. where we are able to put some distance from them is the fact that we can shoot a activating target and get one or two stationary targets before the activated target show itself, while staying behind cover. the other shooters can't seem to get their transition speeds up to what we can do and leaning around cover seems to baffle them.. thank you USPSA for DVC
  19. I hate power outages since I'm one of the idiots that has to go out and restore the power, which is usually in stormy conditions. nothing funner than sticking a hot stick into a lightning storm to pull a high line fuse.
  20. check the crown. cryoing may be your only option
  21. I used a 627 6-shot 5.5" barrel moonclip converted for a couple years before I got my 625. it's my coyote hunting backup gun right now
  22. here is a quick tip on the drop tube extension that has been mentioned above. instead of using a piece of thin wall pvc, use a 12 gauge shotgun shell. just trim it to the length.
  23. Not really. Rich should have won the 2012 IRC. Jerry name should have a asterisk beside that win.
  24. several years ago I was shooting at the area 2 desert classic. I went over to one of the safe areas to scrub my cylinder when I found a much younger shooter loading mags in the safe area. I asked him if he could read the sign that was directly in front of him. after he popped his eyes back in I told him to go load his mags on the tables behind us. I was a certified RO at the time, but I was not a recognized RO for that match, so it was not my place to DQ him. If I am working the match, I would DQ him, and show him in the rule book why it was done, and hope that he learned from it.
