I had a failure to extract last weekend and when I got the shell out, I could see a unburned kernel midway down the chamber. had to use a small screwdriver (tweeker) to get it off the wall.

I have a set of aluminum barrel blocks for a AR15 that I use.

What hand load works best in your M&P 9? or 9L?
JohnRodriguez replied to DOCOHM's topic in S&W (M&P, etc)
today I went out and cronied my 9L with a new bar-sto barrel. off a randsom rest at 15 yard, 10 shot group was about 1" with (3.5gr VVn320, 147gr zero RN, 1.15"OAL, 879.7 fps avg, 11.8 SD, 129.3 pf) and (3.8gr VVn320, 147gr zero RN, 948.6 fps avg, 9.0 SD 139.4 pf) I did have some zero 125 gr 38 super bullets, but the tight chamber did not like loading them, had to smack the back of the slide to get it into battery for every shot. -
I ordered a 9 pro barrel last week and when I got it, it was for a 40 pro. darn it, gave me a good excuse to order another one. I fitted the 40 barrel yesterday and went out and shoot it today and did a little crony with my match ammo for next weeks area 2. went from 171pf to 177pf. looks like it tightened up quite a bit, but I was shooting it to see if I cut the hood enough. tomorrow i'm going out again to run a couple hundred round tru it to make sure it will function. i'll try and remember to take my randsom rest out with me.

vita vouri smells like chocolate to me, especially 310 -
make sure you don't keep or stuff a mag or ammo in your front pockes. quick way to get bumped to open.

What distance to sight in open icore 627
JohnRodriguez replied to jcc7x7's topic in ICORE Rules and Membership Information
my zero is set for 15 yards. you will rarely shoot past this distance at large match as the set up time between shooters will go up big time if you shoot past that distance. -
I run a 12# just to be able to strip the round off the mag. the semi-rim on the 9mm seems to hang up on my SS mags

you can run it in ESR if you convert it for moonclips or SSR if you get some speed loaders. I would suggest that you take advantage of the 155 pf and get those 240gr bullets down to about 700 fps. yes the x-frame grip is legal. I had tried to play with my 625 mountain gun in 45 colt, had the cylinder cut for moonclips too. I ended up getting a new barrel and a Ti 45 acp cylinder. The longer cases don't like to get loaded with any type of speed, they were very floppy since the moonclips are so thin.

Any chance of a 929 with a 5 inch barrel?
JohnRodriguez replied to 3gunnah's topic in Revolver Forum
this is the part# for 5.5" super barrel from S&W 248550000. maybe they have them. as far as the barrel diameters, my 38/357 627 slug in at .354 and my two supers slug at .355. -
not really defective ammo, as the 9mm was designed to be fired out of a semi-auto. all it has to survive is once up the feed ramp, and that is what a taper crimp was designed for, to keep the bullet from being pushed down into the case. The profile crimp is intended for the revolvers. a revolver is basically a kinetic bullet puller. that is why we tend to crimp the hell out of our handloads, and I do use a taper crimp for all my revo loads.

looks like I'll continue to run my 625 mountain gun in ESR. If this turns out to be official, then I'll probably re join IDPA

Southwest Regional?
JohnRodriguez replied to Mover480's topic in Revolver Match Announcements and Discussions
I'll see Vic Pickett next weekend at the revo match and I was gonna ask him that question. -
get your rain gear ready Bob. Spring steel is the reason I have some very good rain jackets, although I think that it hasn't rained in the last two years. is it the 18th or 19th? 18th would be a Saturday, and all the past ones have been on sundays. great for me as it is my 4 day weekend. can stay and shoot the red mountain match on Sunday. if it's sunday then I can shot RIo practical match on Saturday.

LNL AP sticking in the upmost position
JohnRodriguez replied to cz75ipsc's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
the other problem I've run across is the two allen head bolts that hold the ram to the shell plate will back off and let it shift on the 12 and 6 oclock postion. put the ram in the up postion, remove the bolts and spray them to get any oil out, and use red locktite to hold them in place. -
Removing M&P Backstrap In Production -- NOT LEGAL
JohnRodriguez replied to clawson2011's topic in S&W (M&P, etc)
tell them it's a clear backstrap -
use the 142 gr MG bullet. its about the closest thing you will get to a round nose jacketed bullet for your .357 caliber.

ICORE stages are always set up to be 5 plates, or 3 paper targets, and if a paper steel combo, then 2 papers, 1 steel so you can have 1 extra shot for all shooting positions. You will never see a port or position where there will be 4 targets and be forced to do a standing reload with a six shot. ICORE is already set up for a six shot to finish High on the list. Angus Hobdell won limitied with a 625 several years ago and Mike Carmoney finished quite high when he shot with a 625 also. I'm sure Mike can chime in with his finishing position was. The only place a 8 shot has a advantage over a 6 is during a steel stage where you have 3 make up shots and a 6 only has one.

I think that all the division should be give a certain # of slots to fill, say revo 30 slots, lim 10 50 slots, production 100 slots, limited and open whatever is left to be filled by area 2 shooters with say 2 to 3 days to get their slots. then other areas gets the left over slots, then what isn't filled from the lower precipitant divisions get put over to the other division wait list.

the running coyote is the best moving target made to date. zigs, zags, totally random
-
revo division may end up like the Clint Eastwood movie where he changes the complete cylinder, can't remember which one. percussion cap black powder , PCB instead of SSR or ESR. also caseless.
-
it's kind of strange that in ESR (which is not more) that you can run a 45 acp or 45 GAP in a 45 colt chamber, but you can't run a 38 short colt in a 357 mag cylinder. of course with idpa it wouldn't be strange.

Have you sent a Revolver back to the factory for warranty?
JohnRodriguez replied to 357454's topic in Revolver Forum
I would have left it with a .008 gap as I run moly coated lead. sound like they may have removed the barrel to turn it back 1 turn and messed it up, not sure how they messed it up, it is a simple fix. could you possibly see if they would return the original barrel when they send it back. I would be interested in a 6.5" barrel to build a bianchi gun.
