    Carry load

858, I thought you were so poor you couldn't afford a chrono, having to load your own self defense rounds. Even at $2 a pop, so what? Not like you shoot 200 every weekend..... But this forum is not the place for Tactical Teddy posts. It's a home for competition shooters. Try posting over at TacticalPlumber.com

    Carry load

Well then you'll never have to worry about it, now will you? Course here in California we have something called civil court. You know, even though the cops said it was clean...

    Carry load

Yea, don't listen to those top gun school instructors, or LEO, or gun lawyers, what do those know nothing guys know anyway. Listen to a guy on the internet..... And, by the way, what's the load recipe? What powder type and charge weight? what OAL? What does that chrono at out of what gun? It's only those little details that build credibility.

    Which glock model?

Then the G17 is the ticket, of course, I only have 6 of them....

    Carry load

858, only what the Deputies tell us in CCW renewal class in California. And sworn officers are not allowed to use reloads, of any kind, period. You can do what you want. By the way, if you are using mixed brass, like Freedom Munitions, IMT, AmmoLoad or MaxxTech, they have a stepped case that can separate during firing leaving a brass sleeve in the chamber and a dead gun. But maybe you already knew that as an experienced reloader.......

    Which glock model?

racer, yea I meant 125..... And yes, G17L is not approved for CO, but is ok for Open, Limited or L10, and it doesn't matter at all for 3 gun. gpp, you need to get to your nearest 3 gun match and see how things work. You are all hung up on gear and you haven't even shot a match yet. While some guys use a PCC for USPSA, most 3 guns have shots much longer than 100 yards. To be honest, you will be better off to start with an action pistol match, even if it's local. There is allot more going on in a 3 gun, than just the pistol, rifle and shotgun. And while dots may look really cool, they take serious discipline to draw to.

    Which glock model?

The G34 or G17 (G17L would also work, but harder to come by) with a slide mounted dot (carry optics). A frame mount would put you into Open for USPSA. Understand that if your PPC is near the minor floor, it will be sub minor in the pistol***. Steel Challenge has no power floor, but for USPSA/IDPA the floor is 120. My load is a 124 TC Bayou over 3.4 grains of TG at 1.100" and it goes about 1,040 fps out of a G17 with a BarSto barrel. My 17" JRC carbine will make minor with only 3.0 grains of TG, but drops to about 950 fps in the G17. *** 3 gun competitions do not have a power floor (except for Heavy Metal Division .44 cal minimum)
  8. All depends on the gun, the barrel and the bullet weight and velocity. That's why you check POA/POI. Was your previous problem associated with shooting high also? 9" high at 25 yards is about a .050" change on the sights (either shorter rear, or a taller front to correct it). Usually adjustables do not have that much take up. Are you holding the gun high in the web of your hand with the correct grip?

    Epoxy + grit

try posting it under IDPA shooting.
  10. It's best to clear a hot gun on the line facing down range. Short of that the RO can instruct the shooter to proceed per 5.7.7 In the event that a Range Officer terminates a course of fire due to a suspicion that a competitor has an unsafe handgun or unsafe ammuni-tion (e.g. a “squib” load), the Range Officer will take whatever steps he deems necessary to return both the competitor and the range to a safe condition.
  11. Are you shooting Open, Limited or L10 Divisions?
  12. Or you could just eat it. Cheaper and less painful than a vasectomy but doesn't last....

    Carry load

Don't load your own carry ammo, not that you can't, but sometimes defense lawyers may argue that you had to make something more deadly that what the cops use. However be sure to function fire any carry load in any platform you have to make sure it runs. I use WIN SXT 127 +P+ for my Glock and Shield. Just for reference, my USPSA loads are a 124 TC Bayou on top of 3.4 grs of TG at 1.100" OAL, Goes about 1,040 fps out of a G17 but only 970 fps out of a Shield.
  14. Well according to the Glock schematic, it does.... B100-002-728WB Brownells Firing Pin Mfr Part: 4270 GLOCK
  15. And keep in mind that anytime an RO calls a procedural, he is obligated to present the rule that you violated. yes, one procedural per shot fired in the case you mentioned. And never assume that anyone holding the clock is a NROI certified RO because that is not required at Level 1 matches.
  16. Keep the mags loaded at 10 rounds for a few weeks, and the they will seat easier. Or switch to CDP and only load 8 in the mag.
  17. One of my G17s has over 230,000 rounds thru it and there is no issue with the firing pin where it contacts the trigger cruciform. Nothing on a Glock is going to wear out in 6,000 rounds. Put the OEM connector back in and I bet it will run just fine.
  18. 160 gr bullets at around a 105 floor will be the softest. But keep in mind that recoil has to be managed whether it's from a 22LR or a 10mm. Technique over load. The right grip and stance are most important.
  19. All those rules you have to read, how disappointing.... Or you could just run an OEM Glock with a dot.
  20. The Rule Book, as usual, covers it pretty well. CHAPTER 7: Match Management 7.1 Match Officials The duties and terms of reference of Match Officials are defined as follows: 7.1.1 Range Officer (“RO”) – issues range commands, oversees competitor compliance with the written stage briefing and closely monitors safe competitor action. He also declares the time, scores and penalties achieved by each competitor and verifies that these are correctly recorded on the competitor’s score sheet (under the authority of a Chief Range Officer and Range Master). 8.3 Range Communication The approved range commands and their sequence are as follows: 8.3.1 “Make Ready” – This command signifies the start of “the Course of Fire”. Under the direct supervision of the Range Officer the competitor must face down range, or in a safe direction as specified by the Range 32 USPSA Handgun Rules, February 2014 Edition Officer, fit eye and hearing protection, and prepare the handgun in accor-dance with the written stage briefing. The competitor must then assume the specified start position. The Range Officer will not proceed with any further range commands until the competitor is still and is in the correct start position. 8.6 Assistance or Interference 8.6.1 No assistance of any kind can be given to a competitor during a course of fire, except that any Range Officer assigned to a stage may issue safety warnings to a competitor at any time. Such warnings will not be grounds for the competitor to be awarded a reshoot. 8.6.2 Any person providing interference or unauthorized assistance to a competitor during a course of fire (and the competitor receiving such assistance) may, at the discretion of a Range Officer, incur a 34 USPSA Handgun Rules, February 2014 Edition procedural penalty for that stage and/or be subject to Section 10.6. 8.6.2.1 When approved by the Range Officer, competitors at Level I matches may, without penalty, receive whatever coaching or assistance they request. 8.6.4 In the event that inadvertent contact from the Range Officer or another external influence has interfered with the competitor during a course of fire, the Range Officer may offer the competitor a reshoot of the course of fire. The competitor must accept or decline the offer prior to seeing either the time or the score from the initial attempt. However, in the event that the competitor commits a safety infraction during any such interference, the provisions of Section 10.3 may still apply. NROI Range Officer's Creed As a USPSA Range Officer, I shall conduct all competitions with the safety of the competitors, spectators and fellow Range Officials first and foremost in my thoughts and actions. I shall always be courteous while maintaining firm control over my range and areas of responsibility. I will always strive to be totally fair and impartial in my judgments. Safety shall always be my primary goal, with efficiency and speed of the competition as secondary factors. It is a privilege and an honor to serve as a Range Officer and I shall act accordingly. It is my duty to assist all competitors in their attempts to accomplish their goals and not to hinder them by undue harassment and authoritarian behavior. I shall put aside personal prejudices and act as an impartial judge at all times. I shall keep my opinions to myself and shall not be critical of any individual beyond the field of contest. I will thoroughly familiarize myself with all current regulations, match rules and attendant subjects. I will be firm and fair in all judgmental calls made during the course of a stage, and be prepared to state in a clear and concise manner my reasons for such calls to the particular competitor or any Range Official. During the course of a stage, my attention shall be clearly focused on the particular competitor I am assigned to observe, and I shall not permit my attention to be misdirected or lax. Prior to and during a stage, I shall never consume any alcoholic beverage or narcotic. I understand that if I violate this rule, I may be suspended or barred from serving as a Range Official in the future. I shall confer only with my fellow Range Officers and Match Officials concerning the behavior of any competitor and any decisions to be rendered. I shall exercise due consideration for the personal emotions of any competitor, and shall act in a manner so as not to embarrass or disturb the competitor any more than is absolutely necessary. I shall strive to never give even the appearance of wrongdoing.

    Whats a G10/DPP?
  22. Not needed, and I have never done it in over 45 years of reloading. Now rifle, that is different.
