  1. To mess with your buddies and have fun! USPSA and 3-Gun matches are work...
  2. Hoslters. It's not the material the holster is made of, it's the offset. Just get a $20,000 sex change so you can continue to wear your $15 Uncle Mikes... Mag pouches, Notice the new requirement for magazine carriers? The carrier must cover at least 50% of the tube. No more of those 'chopped' IPSC pouches. Will there be an equipment check for mag pouches? Knee Pads. A new rule I don't really don’t like, specifically no hard shell knee or elbow pads. Well if I can't wear knee pads to protect my old broken knees for the game, then no one should be allowed to wear those ugly phony baloney spring loaded concealment vests! I thought I was at a photojournalist’s convention at one match... Reloads. A change that Bob will like, slide-lock (emergency) reloads may take place where necessary, but if the competitor has fired an extra round to gain the slide lock reload, this action will be 'closely scrutinized' by the RO... Also you don't need to duck completely behind cover during a reload. After all you are 'keeping an eye on your opponent' providing you don't expose too much of your body... Awards. And all the new sub-category awards, High Industry, High Press, High International, Most Accurate, etc. Why not High First Timer, High Highest Time, High Average Time, Highest Reload Time, High OWGO50BDNFAOC Time (Old white guy over 50 but does not fit any other category). Seems like a self esteem problem... New Gun division. The new ESR division to let the ICORE guys in, if they chop the barrel to 4". With at 165 floor, you gotta get a 125gr 9mm going 1,320 fps. That's gotta hurt a little... Math. An example of Bill math on page 13, Awards, one trophy for every 3 shooters in division and class, except for ESP/MM, where you only award 2 when there is 9-11 shooters... Cover. The best one of all, page 15, rule k, procedural for improper use of cover, except for the exceptions as noted See you at the match, and remember IDPA uses full charge service ammunition to solve real world self defense scenarios.... That means only one stage with 3 rounds of +P+.... My hand still hurts from shooting that stupid revolver last time
  3. There is no approved scope list in the 2005 rules, revised 8-29-04 "6.5.3 Tactical class scoped rifles may be equiped with no more than (1) optical sight." http://www.smm3g.com/2005%20SMM3GRules.pdf It sounds like that means any single optical device is legal for tactical.
  4. Applications are at the website for the 2005 match http://www.smm3g.com/2005MatchApplication.pdf
  5. Henry’s Tupperware Match (GLOCKS ONLY) Shoot your Plastic and bring home some WOOD!!! 6. Taran shoots an STI. He can use up all that minor power factor ammo he had at Rocky Mountain becasue ESP is only a 125 floor. Whoever drives him back and forth, he likes to go to the movies after shooting.
  7. Well, we know the 3rd Saturday is the regularly schedueled IDPA match, with 50 plus shooters, so like dave said it must be "Oh yeah we shoot on the third Sunday"
  8. Here is the link to download the application http://www.pradopistol.com/idpa/body.htm Prado normally gets 50 shooters for the regular IDPA matchs on the first and 3rd Saturdays. There will be a classifier on April 10th
  9. Matt, What was your trick on Stage 1? I mean it didn't seem to help if you closed one, or both eyes prior to entry, or used a flashlight, or sonar, or whatever??? What did you do to make your hits?
  10. Choosing from the Harris, Keng's or B-Square for 3-gun competition, not to the rules... What features make it the best for your game? And why?
  11. It's still there under Tactical Journal articles http://idpa.com/articles1.asp?title=Nation...olume=6&issue=4
  12. Additional info: 9am start, $25 for non Palm Springs Gun Club members, about 125 bird and/or buckshot (some of our plates are heavy), and around 20 slugs. The Tire House will be a stage!!! 360 degrees of blasting... The Tire House is so tight that no RO can follow the shooter. The timer is on your belt. Don't even think about resetting the timer right before the finish (JoJo), as we will check for total shots fired... All the proceeds go to benefit our junior shooters, so come on out and help kickstart the next generation!
  13. Thats right! 4th Sunday, Feb. 22nd, at Palm Springs Gun Club, a full on 8 stage tactical shotgun match. Get ready for the mountain!!! Check the PSGC website for directions.
  14. Your other option is to bore out the comp to the barrel OD, and then drill and pin the comp.
  15. Regardless of caliber, you want to look at the power floor (bullet weight times velocity) for the game you are going to play. IDPA is based on a 125 floor, so a 9mm is all you really need unless you feel obligated to carry a .45acp, which has a 165 floor. Of course, that doesn't really mimic carry loads, what with a 230 gr going about 718fps? For USPSA, you want to make major, unless you are shooting production class. So if you have a 40S&W, you can load it down for IDPA and keep it major (165) for USPSA. I would not go out and buy another gun. Try several matches in both games, and then decide. In the end, shooting is 95% mental, and 5% gun. Generally, the largest frame gun in the most manageable caliber you can handle is best...

    Air Gunning

    You just call it 'tape-gunning'
  17. For pistol and shotgun I use prescription correction glasses with plastic safety lenses. My dominant eye is corrected to the front sight distance and the weak eye to infinity. They take some getting used to. For rifle over 100 yards, I use driving glasses (infinity correction) but I shoot a dot, not iron sights.
  18. I went 2 years ago, and thought it was a challenging match. The cold and wind made it more so.
  19. They are not legal for tactical rifle at SOF or Mystery Mountain...

    Match Fees

Since when is GSSF 'Running Gun'? You don't even draw from the holster... and you certainly don't run... The average fee in Southern California is around $18 for 6 stages. The low is $13 for 8 stages, and the high is $22 for 5 stages. It also depends on whether or not you discount for set-up help. The clubs vary from low round count straight IDPA stages to USPSA lite, more rounds, and more satisfying... You should look into liability insurance before you sign up with IDPA as a club, and declare yourself a match director. You need someone who is certified as a SO also.
  21. At the club level, your gear won't matter as much as you getting started in the game. Later on, if you choose to shoot state/regional matches or the Nationals, you will have to comply with all the IDPA rules. Theorictically, your duty gear is fine, but some match directors take this to include handcuffs, radio and OC spray. The confusion about the 'major/minor' is because in IDPA the power floor is divison based, and not caliber based. For example, all Glocks are SSP. So you could shoot a Glock 21 (.45acp) in SSP with a 230 gr bullet going at least 544 fps (125 floor). Or you could choose to shoot a Glock 21 in CDP and have to crank up the speed to 718fps to meet the 165 floor. And you would have to load only 8 plus 1. You won't find too many shooters in USPSA or IDPA using a wheelgun. You may want to try ICORE. It's only for wheelgunners.
