  1. frankly i bought the gun new, stock, five if not ten years ago (my first 2011), and didn't make any changes or mods other than replacing trigger group. i will do a little more checking with the new ejector to ensure it won't get banged when inserting mags. AND look at the ejectors on my other STI's...
  2. sti 2011 ejector tip just broke off last match. i assumed it was a few mags i borrowed for that match (had 10 round limit so needed more mags) but in cleaning it i found the problem.
  3. I'm shooting my new carry gun, Wilson professional 4.0". In .45 though so will not be super competitive against the 9mm's. Using milt sparks ss2 iwb so again not super competitive.
  4. not one of your choices but check out the midway bags, they do a great job and frequently have good sales. two sizes, i have the large and have had no issues other than the zipper pulls pulling off but i replaced with zip ties (which helps distinguish my bag from the multitudes out there). that said, shooters connection is a great company with great customer service.
  5. went from howard leights (they sat on my ears vs going over them and just weren't that comfortable) to pro ears 300's. the pro ears are a lot more comfy (go over the ears don't sit on them) and they haven't bothered me during any 3 gun matches.
  6. ask another shooter if you can hand them your smartphone and follow you around (not getting in the way of RO or scorekeeper of course). i have asked and been asked, not that big of a deal.
  7. absolutely love my 9mm eagle in idpa, 2 and 3 gun, steel matches. you will too. mine is a dawson supertune (trigger and reliability) but don't think they do much if any of those.
  8. look at the "multi gun gear and accessories" subforum down below this one, couple of threads on carts and the like. lotta folk get used jogging strollers cheap on craigslist. some pull wagons. some just drive stage to stage.
  9. make sure you clearly understand their reimbursement policy. i had a brand spankin' new never fired ar-15 stolen during a break-in years ago and allstate wanted to depreciate the crap out of it. only after threatening my longstanding agent with cancelling my biz with them did they agree to reimburse me for the full purchase price. i didn't have any sort of separate policy or rider, just the pkg home and auto deal.
  10. thanks again Bob. i did the above over and over and nothing happened. was just ready to give up and box it up and decided to give the recoilmaster a few wacks just for yucks (small diameter sight tool placed inside the plug). that must have jarred the recoilmaster "ears" loose or something as i was then able to rack the slide. when i pulled the slide the "ears" seemed aligned and positioned properly but maybe they were off kilter and the wacking got them back together.
  11. check out dawson's website, says free shipping and i don't think there's a minimum (i spent $45 last week and got free ship). believe shooters connection has some pretty low shipping for small stuff.
  12. Thanks Bob, I'll give that a further try tomorrow. Is this something that i just have to apply more and more force til it finally gives? No plan B or anything? thanks again!
  13. "only" problem is the slide is jammed. safety goes on and off and trigger cocks and releases when pulled.
  14. ok i'm an idiot. sti 2011 edge, cleaned (removed slide, recoilmaster, barrel) like i have dozens if not 100s of times. put it back together, pulled trigger and now the slide won't move back more than a 1/4 inch, just barely past where it would stop with the safety engaged. saw a prior thread where they said to grasp slide in left hand and push hard in opposite direction but that isn't doing anything. even lightly put the slide in a padded vise and pushed harder at back of grip and no better. also put the top front of the slide (above barrel below front sight) against edge of workbench and pushed hard with no luck. it's new enough and low round count enough where nothing should be breaking, but of course stuff happens. pretty confident i put the slide stop thru the link pin. the only thought creeping into my head is maybe the recoilmaster wasn't sitting correctly on the barrel perhaps i was distracted while removing that plastic recoilmaster compression tool. any help / thoughts GREATLY appreciated!
  15. inconsistent clays and iirc the rifle position was pretty unfriendly for lefty's.
  16. as long as they get the parts right leading up to me shooting, don't care too much what they say after i'm done. do you understand the cof... as i'm adjusting my earpro - are you ready or the guys that skip the 'are you ready' and go right to 'standby.'
  17. Yep soldering iron didn't work for me either.
  18. Yeah I got home from an idpa match and checked scores and had 20 secs of penalties on one stage. Guy hit ftdr instead of procedural. With small screens and the nooks and tablets being finicky, it's easy to do.
  19. I replaced the mount on my dvc open to a sideways and had to use a butane torch on the inside of the frame to loosen the factory screws. I think two loosened with just a lighter but the rest needed serious heat.
  20. further back would help keep some powder blast off the lens also, have to clean my sideways cmore on my steelmaster after every stage.
  21. aunt and uncle were heavy smokers and maybe 20 years ago went and got hypnotized and haven't smoked since. sounds like voodoo to me but it absolutely worked for them.
  22. that's crap that not only didn't they make you go last, they didn't even let you go last when you asked. I have never seen that request not gladly and graciously honored. yep, done some stages where I never saw the sights, gets better with some stages under your belt. newbie today dq'd while clearing a malf, so you have him beat!
  23. I'm just a b / c shooter but got the dvc open in 38 super. after I cleaned and lubed it the first time, it has run flawlessly since (4 matches iirc) and I'm very happy with it. BIL just got the ck hardcore open gun and pretty much the same deal and I'm really not good enough to tell the difference. given that, I'd let price and availability guide your choice between the two. as noted above, factory major power factor ammo (ie Atlanta arms) is definitely pricey, but that's what I'm using for now.
  24. As opposed to finger off trigger, I think finger along slide. Easier for me to think where it goes vs where it doesn't go. If u have choice of running right or left, running left to right puts a right-hander in a safer reload position than right to left. Good luck at next match.
  25. Timer has hard time picking up 223 suppressed so surely harder with pcc.
