  1. My first guess was magazine as in feed lip spacing too wide. If you hand cycle the ammo by fast racking the slide can you reproduce the jam? Have you checked extractor tip and tension?
  2. I put a new Fusion slide stop on my Trojan as well as one of their two piece magwells and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Forged steel well made, good price made in USA. http://www.amazon.com/1911-Fusion-9mm-Slide-Stop/dp/B00N33WL80
  3. Yeah, sure. Always a balmy 72 F. :roflol: Humidity is The Problem, for me. We have been treated to that as well. Several times this summer we have had remnants of pacific hurricanes run up the west coast bringing us sticky tropical air along with bizarre lightning storms, hail and rain.
  4. Only if you can build a time machine...... used to be like that around here.
  5. My pet peeve is the smirky faced weather morons on TV saying how the weather is going to be "warm".... when it's actually going to be 95 - 100 degrees in an area where normal weather for this time of year would be around 80. 95 is not warm, it's STINKING HOT. Stop trying to tell me it's warm. 80 degrees is warm. We have had the hottest year in history in north Cali and I have lived here about 40 years. It actually started late May which is weeks before summer even started and we have been getting scorched all summer long. And the pattern is always the same: the weather forecast moron will say we are going to have "a couple of warm days" except it always turns out to be five to eight days of temps 20 degrees above normal. And the "cooling relief" shows up when the temps drop to "only" being ten to fifteen degrees above normal. I have really had it with the heat. These three months count as time served in hell.
  6. Starship Troopers. Denise Richards made her intro in that one.
  7. If there was an award for best post that would get it. I would add that the best built 1911's are fitted a shade tight when they are built and may need a few hundred rounds to break in and loosen up. Even my SIG226 did. They may short stroke the slide, not lock back on last round, or not cycle occasionally until broken in. Or, it may run fine but I would DO NOTHING to the gun until I had run a few hundred rounds through it.
  8. If it's in time enough to hit the primer its in time enough for the bullet to align the cylinder as it jumps to the FC. Squib or Double charge. 3.2 of clays with a 160 bayou in that cast. I happened to have a S&W guy on the phone right after it happened discussing finer points of revs going off out of time. This is when I got the "i recommend replace cyl stop every few thousand rounds, etc..." I asked him if they sold them buy the dozen or not.... Interesting. In my experience, the cylinder notches on SS guns peen and distort a lot faster than the stop does.
  9. The SVI on the kommiefornia list is only in.45, so this exact pistol isn't easily available. I suspect someone will pay the reserve or more? Any SVI can be purchased in California - SVI will sell you a .45, which you can legally DRoS in California, and then you send it back to them and they'll convert it to whatever you want. Last time I did it, it cost about 75% of a new gun price to have a different caliber top end built up for my gun. It is legal, it is typically more pricey than buying a good used gun (if you can).
  10. Yep, basically double what ever the fair market price is for a gun in california. Go over to Calguns and look at the selection of $4k Pythons......
  11. reminds me of the old Howard Cosell days...... howard used to win the surveys for both the most liked sportscaster and most hated as well.
  12. California is burning from top to bottom too. It will leave us a scorched earth dirt plain waiting to get hammered by the rains from what has been described as "the Godzilla of El Ninos" coming next fall. Half the state will probably slide into the sea when the mudslides fire up.
  13. If the sights are in fact not moving, it may be that the new style sight is being perceived differently by your eye and making the POI move. Since one is at 25 yards and the other is 10, are you sighting the same?
  14. Sorry to hear it. Stay strong.
  15. The worst are the commercials they cram into the videos on the TV channels. You can go to NBC, ABC, CBS and watch the show on their site and the commercials suck. On one site, they could pick up when I muted the sound on the player and would keep repeating the commercial until I released the audio. Sneaky, not sure how they did that. The other bonus is the commercials often didn't load correctly and crashed the playback. In most cases, they are just cranking up the volume on the commercials. That's illegal now, but they ignore it. The other trick is to used audio dynamic range compression and clipping so they can crank the average volume level up to twice as loud as normal but still have the same peak level. But bottom line, commercials always have been and always will be WAYYYYY louder than content and it is by design.
  16. Interesting point I just saw: Netflix has the old Star Trek episodes from 1967 and the content length of the show is 51 minutes per hour. The Star Trek Next Gen of the 90's is 48 minutes per hour. Today's programs are 41 - 42 minutes per hour which means basically you have one minute commercial per two minutes of program which is the saturation beyond tolerance. With the 51 minute length, you get about 7 minutes program for each one minute of commercial or about 13 minutes program and a two minute commercial break for each quarter hour which is pretty tolerable. Today's commercial content set is about ten minutes content with five minutes of commercials per quarter hour which is ridiculous. The other problem is that commercial breaks used to be a minute or two minutes max at the half hour but now they are typically 3.5 minutes minimum and 5.5 minutes max. That's why NOBODY watches live TV anymore. I have dual screen TV and sometimes watch a half hour show during the commercials of a live show. You can basically watch a half hour show in the commercial time of a typical hour broadcast. Ridiculous, they have pushed it to the point where it has become this bad.
  17. I bought a Fusion stop because it was cheap. Very high quality but I had to polish off the groove they machine in the end to engage the pin that keeps it from accidentally engaging. I think lots of sources on stops, Brownells will have a selection. I don't think the stop should need much fitting.
  18. It's too bad MS doesn't give you a list of the "updates" with a summary and let you select the critical ones and skip the garbage. I have been getting "Loading 14 updates" most times I turn off recently and I know most of it is crap. I really don't like downloading unknown material.
  19. Bite what? Speaking of getting bit, with my first PC: on one of the long "updates" it loaded something that killed my PC. It had blue screen lock next day and I ended up having to pay the shop about $150 to unfreeze it. I still have no idea what the hell happened. Hence my distrust of MS dumping GIGs of software into my machine when it is running perfectly.
  20. No joke. My wife's old Toshiba lapyop hadn't been used in a few years and when my PC died I fired it up. That's about what happened to it.

  22. In the last few weeks I have noticed that every time I turn off my computer, microsoft is dumping "updates" into my computer.... some of these took more than 30 minutes to download. My computer runs fine, I don't want it screwed up and I sure as heck don't want any windows 10 junk stuck in my PC. Any way to block these downloads I don't want?
  23. Good eye on spotting the curve, the thing is definitely bent. Not sure exactly why. Instead of firing blind, I would do some diagnostics. Get the "problem" magazines ans some dummy rounds and see if you can get the problem to occur to verify exactly what's going on. If the follower is not raising the slide stop and sliding past it, may be accumulation of wear: the follower has some play in the mag shell and the mag shell has some play in the frame. On mine, I have large base pads and my left hand can apply some side pressure to the mag movin it sideways in the frame. From the symptoms, it sounds like the follower is not holding on the slide stop tab but you need to verify why. Here is the original fabrication drawing for the Colt .45 slide stop so you can check yours if you have calipers. I assume if yours matches the drawing, it's a .45 slide stop.
