  1. Is it possible the slide stop tab is showing wear or rounding the edge to let the follower slip by the edge? Shlodn't be too difficult.
  2. The Chip McCormick type I have don't have the problem (see image) but the Mecgar types did. The fix was to bend the foot out to the side a bit to get a more positive engagement on the slide stop.
  3. Spring is installed correctly. Wierd thing is, STI shows the same slide stop for all calibers: http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/frame-parts/slide-catch-parts/slide-catches/1911-auto-slide-stop-prod27136.aspx but I have seen others that differentiate. http://www.fusionfirearms.com/parts/frame-parts/slide-stops EGW sells different stops for different calibers but I can't find ny machine drawings showing dimensions. http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/frame-parts/slide-catch-parts/slide-catches/1911-auto-heavy-duty-slide-stop-prod26867.aspx
  4. Had similar problem on my 9mm Trojan. On mine, several mags would have the follower tab (foot) get "past" the tab on the slide stop and wedge into it. The slide did not lock back and the mags would not drop when I hit the mag release. The fix on mine: I installed a new slide stop and bent the follower foot slightly outward. Make sure you have a 9mm slide stop in the gun and not a .45 slide stop. The latter typically has a smaller tab so it won' hit the nose of the larger round.
  5. I read they rushed out WIN 10 as a result of the anger that the screwed up WIN 8 had generated.
  6. This is wisdom. Every new OS comes with a ton of bugs that are gradually patched with service pack upgrades until it works OK.... and then you get the next new OS. You might research online, I read a LOT of negative hate about WIN 10 because they changed the interface too much and screwed it up.
  7. Well Reshoot, Scott is using Barsto, Carver is using Storm Lake. While I understand they probably use those because they believe they are the best, NOBODY uses the EFK barrels. Is there a reason or is it just personal preference. That's really what I'm looking for, is someone who has used the EFK barrel so I can get their opinion. I have an EFK in my Tactical model and it seems to shoot well. I can't compare it to Barsto or Storm because I have only shot EFK. I think EFK is typically drop in and Barsto may need fitting. Barsto also seemed expensive. IMHO, accuracy is more related to ammo and individual shooter not barrel.
  8. I keep seeing posts about how the ammo shortage is all better.... well nobody told the ammo sellers. I was checking some of my "discount sites" for ammo and gave up on the first one. This is from Ammo Bank. The good news? They have ammo. The bad news? Bend over and bay $28/box for junk grade 9mm target ammo. I really have flipping had it with the artificial ammo gouging. When I run out of ammo, my shooting career just might be done. ADD: you can get the Win white box for "only" $35/hundred which is only about $20/box 50 delivered. Such a bargain. I swear, that's higher than the junk at the local range.
  9. I agree, problem on only one TV makes me think it was the Sony but it had worked fine for a year on the old Comcast internet hookup. The new ATT service worked on the VIZIO but I was getting COMCAST error messages trying to start Netflix on the Sony, the error code indicated "network compromised" but the same network runs all my devices (?) All other apps were working on the Sony, only netflix failed... and then started working eventually. If I was cynical I might think netflix has a thing that screws up the feed when you change network connections so they can sell you system cleaning software and then they go ahead and release your account after you refuse to buy it and you can go back to using netflix.... This is why I hate changing ANYTHING when it's working, I just want to leave everything alone....
  10. But the "problem" TV started working with netflix after about an hour of screwing around with it for no reason (no changes made) which made me wonder what's going on. My concern is the tech showed me all the terrible problems shown in the black screens after the diagnostics and I wonder if there is anything wrong or if it was just a scam.
  11. I ran that and it didn't find any actual viruses or malware, just "potentially unwanted programs" which is the usual junk. I have been running AVG anti virus for years after my brother in law recommended it, he is a programmer.
  12. The guy spent an hour scanning the computer so he definitely put in some time. He hung up after I declined the overpriced "fix" service he tried to sell me. I want to find out if there is actually something that needs immediate fixing.
  13. I am in the process of changing over from my COMCAST ISP service to AT+T..... yes, I swore hell would freeze over before going back to AT+T but COMCAST has ramped up my monthly rate to $95 for basic ISP with no TV at all! AT+T provides the same for $50 so I am changing. I hooked up the ATT modem and got things working, PC was connecting to the internet OK. Then I set up the ATT wireless network to talk to my SONY smart TV that I use to watch NETFLIX videos. I kept getting error messages from netflix and it would not connect. The TV did connect to all the other TV apps. CALLED NETFLIX: spent an hour on the phone and their tech who took remote control of my PC and ran diagnostics eventually concluding it was not their fault (surprise) and showed me an error code that said "Network compromised" and claimed NETFLIX software would not connect to a compromised network. Except that: my VIZIO smart TV immediately worked with Netflix and my PC could also access netflix and download video??????? How could the defective network only affect the sony TV? The tech eventually showed me that my PC had the KOOBFACE virus and also that somebody in Europe was controlling my PC (I am attaching the scan readout). He then tried to steer me to a place that could fix that all for only $250 (one time) or $500 (lifetime). I said no and he hung up on me. Questions: 1) How is a smart TV part of the "network"? It talks directly to the modem, the PC isn't in the path. 2) Do I need to get something done to my PC to clean it? Any stuff I can do myself so I don't have to get reamed? BTW: the SONY eventually started working with NETFLIX again on the new ATT wireless system after a couple of hours for no reason I know of.
  14. Given this, does the fact the 9mm barrel is slightly smaller than the .40 affect accuracy in any way? Does the 9mm barrel "flop around" in the slide of a G35? The conversion barrel is thicker, so the OD is the same as stock so it locks up tight. I've had excellent reliability and accuracy with my Lone Wolf. As a byproduct of the thicker barrel, the "converted" 9mm gun will weigh a few ounces more than the stock 9mm if that makes any difference to you. On my Springfield XD it's actually quite noticable.
  15. Is the sideplate fitted properly? I see some where the sideplate doesn't align just right and the edge of the sideplate intrudes a little to the left. Anyway, slight rubbing isn't going to keep it from shooting.
  16. I don't know if "normal" is a good word to use, but it's one of the common defects I see on many new SW guns. Sometimes it just takes removing a shade of material off the inside edge.
  17. Clean with cleaners and lube with lubricants. If you like Gunscrubber, buy non-chlorinated brake cleaner spray for about 1/5 the cost. As for lube: Slide Glide mixed with FP-10 as needed to adjust viscosity.
  18. And in the process they are force dragging the trigger nose across the sear faces on the hammer tearing them up. +1 with buying a second hammer and just cutting off the SA cocking porch.
  19. Golf players actually impose penalties on themselves if the ball moves just sitting there even if nobody sees it.
  20. Kuhnhausen manuals are the best. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/books-amp-videos/books/handgun-gunsmithing-books/the-s-w-revolver-a-shop-manual-5th-edition-prod73553.aspx
  21. I thought that even the MIM sears had to be fitted. It's a critical fit to get the "hand off" from the beak of the trigger nose lifting the hammer to the lower porch. I have a 66 with MIM parts that had a problem with the sear and needed fitting. It's possible one might fall in and work OK (?) Do you mean the bottom edge of the sear? That bevel is where the fitting is.
  22. You get the G35 and conversion barrel and 9mm mags. I have the exact setup with an EFK conversion barrel. I haven't shot it in so long, I should sell it to you....
