  1. Welcome from South Mississipi (pronounced Mi-Si-Pi: three sylables).
  2. Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your service and keep your head down. I will say a prayer for you.
  3. Most people can' draw and hit the A zone from 25 yards in 2.0 seconds......... Man, I finally made it, I'm most people. Usually I can't do what most people can do.
  4. To doubt everything or to belive everything are two equally convenient soloutions; both dispense with the necessity of refelction. H. Poincare
  5. I had that problem with a Glock 35 and 140mm Dawson baseplates and found that it seemed to be a combination of things. One was the 180 grain truncated cone jacket bullets. The second was a combo of the mags having excess plastic flashing that the follower and/or srping coils would hang on, and the last thing was an extractor that was too tight (where the rim of the casing would slide under the extractor). Correcting all of them helped, but the biggest thing that seemed to fix the problem was changing bullets. I went to Precision 185 moly coated bullets loaded to 1.128-1.130 OAL. I think that the precision bullets profile is more conducive to smooth feeding on a finicky pistol. I load the moly bullets over WSF and have lo0aded 4.8 grains to 5.4 grains with success.

    Duty and honor

"Everything that is called duty, the prerequisite for all genuine law and the substance of every noble custom, can be traced back to honor. If one has to think about it, one is already without honor." OSWALD SPENGLER, "Thoughts"

    My Glock 35

Yeah, he's in his mid twenties and I'm in my late 50's. I met his Dad about twenty years ago, but now I see Michael at the range more than I see his Dad. He is not only talented with a soldering iron, he's pretty handy with a long range precision rifle.
  8. I first heard of this during my Southeast Asia experience with the old M-16 magazines. It was probably based on the reasoning that because the aluminum 20 round mags were orginally designed as throwaways, the springs were crappy. As was some of the ammo, and as were the most horrigle item ever foisted on our troops. I am referring Vietnam-era jungle boots.

    My Glock 35

Hey guys, here's (hopefully) pictures of the stippling a friend of mine just did on my G35. I like the way it feels, and teh best part is he did for free. Michael put in 5 1/2 hours in on this project. Stock barrel, Warren Tactical Sevigny sights, JP Enterprises Magwell, Wolff Competition spring kit, Glock 3.5 Connector, stock recoil spring and Dawson Precision Mag Extensions. I had some early problems with FTF, but the stock recoil spring and Precision 185 grain Moly bullets seem like they are working really well. I was leery about lead bullets, tehn moly bullets at first, but neither have shown any signs of leading/build-up in the stock barrel.
  10. At the Gator Classic I saw a holster I really liked the looks of on the Center of Mass (COM) vendors table. There was one holster to fit a Glock 35, but Rick was using it to shoot the match himself. He agreed to hold hte hoster for me and I took it home after the match. I fell in love with the thing. It is a drop style and is adjustable for cant and tension. It is made of Kydex and has set screw to keep the holster from sliding on the belt. It seems to really suit me well, and I seem to be somewhat smoother out of the holster. It was $80.00 well spent.
  11. I don't design stages at our club, but I et there early with one of the better shooters and help set them up. We normally set up three stages, and a couple of other guys set up the other two. I can't mbelieve ho many targets that I FTE, and not just the ones that are hidden. But then again. I' still at just under six months doing this but I have noticed I do beeter at other club matches. I'm still at teh point where my dog brain is outrunning my human brain. In other word "Brain Freeeeeze!"
  12. Thanks from my family and I. My son in law in Afghanistan right now (about a week into his tour). Come home safe, and if you come to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, I'll buy the drinks mor the ammo, whichever you'd prefer,

    Slide Stop

I have a G-35 with the factory extended slide stop and I ahve never inadvertently "locked the slide back." Of course, my hands are small enough that I can't even reach the extended stop without shifting my grip. when you clean teh inside of the slide, make sure there is no oil and old solvent and carbon in the slide.
  14. Like Duane said, check to ensure that the firing pin safety operates freely. Old solvent and oil inside of the slide can trap carbon, which then can get almost as hard a mortar. This can prevent the fring pin safety from operating freely. With the firing pin safety impeded, this could make the trigger harder to pull. Maek sure that no (I mean none) oil gets in the firing pin channel or the hole for the firing pin safety. This oil/solvent/carbon mixture can render a Glock non-funtional.
  15. Yeah, whatmeworry, I remember those cars too. That is if you are talking about Bill Jenkin's "Grumpy's Toy,." i have fired a couple of the SIG 1911's, and they seemed to be good, reliable pistols that are worth the money you have to spend for them. The trigger was OK, about what you would expect from a factory 1911. They both fired hollowpoints without any difficulty from most of the magazines. One of the magazines acted like it had a weak spring or something else was making the follower hang-up. Neither one of the guns had a malfunction using Wilson, Mccormick or Kimber Pro Tac mags.
  16. In August at a local match I hit an 8" plate that turned sideways. The range was about 12 yards or so, and and all I could see of the plate was the edge. This stage was off hand only, and sometime during this CF My grip lossened and I began to experience FTF's. I hit the edge of the plate five or six times according to my friend that was the RO. I fianally went on and got all of the other targets, and then went back and shot four more times, before knocking the sideways plate down. After the stage the consensus was that I should have gone on because the penalty would have hurt way sorse than the extra time. I'm not sure that I amcapable of quitting in the middle as long as I had bullets and the pistol still worked. It may have been smarter, but in my mind I still had a "bad guy" up in front of me, so I continued until it was down.
  17. I annot speaks as to these calculations, but I know that I personally see the Warren Sevigny sights on my G-35 a whole lot better than I could see the factory plastic front and adjustable rear. My 58 year old eyes just "see" that FO front better, and I really seem to be better able to get my sight picture with the extra "light" on both sides of the Sevigny's. I have used Heinie Straight 8 night sights on duty Glocks, but I just seem to be better able to shoot the 35. I cam not skilled or knowledgeable enough to tell you if it is the narrower front, the wider rear. longer sight radius or a combination of all of them. I can tell yu it works for me.
  18. Bart is right, as usually is. Your probelem sounds like a PIP, and I have encountered this numerous times while teaching LEO's. It can be exagerated by using too much finger through the triggerguard. Make sure that your trigger is not against teh let sid eof the frame. Your finger pushing against the frame when you begin to move the trigger to the rear will help move the muzzle to the left. Also, in combination, you may be anticipating the the round going off. Practice, paractice paractice. Make one good, slow shot. Then make another one. To shoot fast, just shorten the interval between the shots. Sounds simkple, huh? It really is, but the application takes practice.
  19. And welcome from South Mississippi. It must be a Southern Thang.
  20. I've got the Dawsons, and I had some issues with half of them with the stock Glock 35 followers. I replaced teh followers wtih Arredondo white Delrin followers and no more hanging up issues. I am finding that I can get 19 rounds in four mags, and 20 in one mag. I smoothed, sanded, trimmed and interchanged parts, but that one mag is the only one I can get 20 in. Then again, 19 rounds is not keeping me from finishing higher, its the llose nut behind the wheel (she shooter)that keeps messing up.
  21. Welcome, from another member that shoots glocks.
  22. A certain swordsman in his declining years said the following: "In one's life, there are levels in the pursuit of study. In the lowest level, a person studies but nothing comes of it, and he feels that both he and others are unskillful. At this point he is worthless. In the middle level he is still useless but is aware of his own insufficiencies andcan also see the insufficiencies of others. In a higher level he has pride concerning his own ability, rejoices in praise from others, and lments the lack of ability in his fellows. This man has worth. In the highest level a man has the look of knowing nothing. These are the levels in general. But there is one transcending level, and this is teh most excellent of all. This person is aware of teh endlessness of entering deeply into a certain Way and never thinks of himself as having finished He truly knows his own insufficiencies and he never in his whole life thinks that he has succeeded. He has no thoughts of pride, but with self-abasement knows the Way to the end. It is said that Master Yagyu once remarked 'I do not know the way to defeat others, but the way to defeat myself." Throughout your life advance daily, becoming More skillful than yesterday, more skillful than today. this is never ending. from the First Chapter, "HAKAGURE" YAMAMOTO TSUNETOMO
