  1. Has anyone seen the new ARMS #22 M68 Extension spacer for the Aimpoint mount? I saw one pictured on e-bay as a package deal with the Aimpoint, and it looks like just the perfect setup with the #22, It spaces the Aimpoint up just like the regular M68 spacer but also moves it forward over your handguards. Will this work with M4 handguards? Where can I get one and how much?
  2. OK we know you are superman but are you ever going to shoot in the states anymore, Saturday maybe????
  3. You may want to reconsider your barrel choice, you are gaining nothing by going with this barrel. If its the extra weight you want heavy frames, magwells, and guiderods will give you plenty and are easy to lighten as you speed up your transitions. Stainless is not the best option ether, most limited guns you see that are silver are actually hard chrome over steel. Stainless steel is inferior in almost all respects to ferrous steel in respect to gunparts. With hardchrome you can build the gun you want then have it hardchromed after your done and it works. Hardcrome on the rails will last almost forever and not gall like stainless.
  4. Think of it like this. The side ports counteract the recoil imparted due to the bullet accelerating down the bore, and the top ports are counteracting the pistol moving muzzle up due to the boreline of the pistol being above the center of movement resistance I/E your wrist. in a "perfect world" you could build a comp that would utilize gas presssure to counteract all recoil forces, but this will never happen due to the physics involved with the gas delay vs recoil action.
  5. Try using a fine wood file to open up the mag holders and holster just a bit at a time, then use a rat tail file to contour the holders and holster to fit over the outside ridges on the belt for a custom fit. worked great on mine.
  6. Take a look at the parts from SVI, I have had several drop in no stoning needed. Also the triglide assy is great if you want a reliable light pull.
  7. Kevin; Get a USPSA membership. Go to the USPSA websightUSPSA and look up ranges and matches in your area, show up and ask questions. IPSC shooters are more than willing to help you out and so you can make an informed decision. You can go with a singlestack 1911 45, or go all out on an SVI or STI its all in the funding, many start with a 45 and shoot Limited 10 and then move to limited or open. There is nothing wrong with a Glock 35 either.
  8. Give Brownells a call or check there websight, get a catalog and see just what is available. Brownells link
  9. Yes, Yes, No-but most use a lighter spring to make gun feel softer, Not slower-softer. Do a search under buffer or just read the whole area under springs and you will find a wealth of information.
  10. I am getting ready to buy a hammer and sear fixture from Brownells but there is quite a few that seem like they will all work. Power Custom Series #1 or #2, Bob Marvel, Yavapai, C&C? What ones have you used and what would you buy again?
  11. Don't drill holes in the bottom you will regret it the first time you shoot off a bench or prone, not to mention you will get muzzle blast reflections off the ground. You can ream the diameter of the comp to increase the bullet gap but it will decrease the efficiancy of recoil controll also. The best way would be to increase your side vent size this will keep the recoil reduction but decrease the downforce.
  12. Jewell triggers are wonderfull when you are shooting highpower, as are Knights, Rock River, and Compass Lake all these companies offer 2 stage triggers that work great for long range precision shooting. IPSC and Tac-3-gun are not "precision shooting" but fast paced games where an adjustable single stage trigger works best "IMHO". JP makes a great adjustable single stage trigger and is a big supporter of our sport. You can buy them direct from JP or from Brownells, if you buy direct from JP they will give you several springs and great advice as well, it is the best addition you will ever make to your rifle. Talk with JP and find out what assy. is best for you as to spring weight and what hammer to use, for match use there lightweight hammer is nice but its not advised for a SHTF rifle as it may not hit some foreign ammo with enough force. JPcan tailor your trigger for your needs.
  13. I really like the Cominolli framesaver tungsten guiderods, I use them in my singlestack and SVI limited. I have had to change to a Hiett .090" red buffer on the front on my singlestack as the super soft red buffers from Cominolli kept shredding on the sharp frame edges of my singlestack. Wilson buffers also fit. I like the idea of no metal to metal contact at all and 2 different buffer hardnesses seems to soften the gun. Read some other replies by BE and others and you will see some users mix and match buffers to tune there gun. I am an ex setup machinist and there quality is first rate for a production part.
  14. If its not to bad dont' worry about it. If you want to fix it though, clean area using a dry cleaner like non clorinated brake cleaner and use Locktite green. This will wick in and seal up gap, this is what lots of highpower guys do. shooting will clean any out that may wick into the gas hole just don't overdo it use 2 small applications instead of one big one.
  15. You may want to take a look at the Browning Gold, it seems to be catching on bigtime. Mine feels softer and faster than my Remington or Benelli, and the speed feed feature can shave a second or so if you run empty.
  16. Makes for a sweet crisp light trigger. The changable inserts are great.
  17. Get hold of me and You can shoot my Browning as much as you like, heck I will even let you shoot a match with it. You will find the 24" gun actually works better. That is if you ever make it back North
  18. This is proof, we are our own worst enemies!
  19. As for AK's the Bulgarian milled reciever guns from Arsenal USA are nice if you want an AK. The Vepr is a nice gun but its not as traditional an AK more of an AK-AKM-Galil mix. Krebs Custom makes top notch AK's, they are the JP of the AK world. The cost of the "overrated" Valmet and Galil rifles is through the roof. The Romanian stuff is fun to shoot and will go bang, for the price they are fun. For competition a brake will help shot to shot recovery, for fun they are just plain loud. Slant breaks are not that bad but the AK style brake is rude, the louder it is the better its working though. I have to say it though "flame on" if you want a quality rifle for competition don't waste your money on an AK! Just buy an AR, they dominate 3-gun matches for a reason.
  20. It will probably never make it off the cutting room. To survive with Ted you may actually have to kill and skin Bambi or Thumper, and eat some good fresh cooked to perfection, drug free, wild meat. For a look at Teds real world read God, Guns, & Rock'N'Roll by Ted Nugent, he is for real not like the "pantywaste, goodygoody, treehugging, sheep that have been on everyother Real World and Survivor in the past. Just think, 9-11 happened because of 4 razorblades? Not in Teds Real world!
  21. I have had the best luck using an armband and a side saddle, and using a hip holder just for the big stages. Having real small hands picking up 4 shells out of a carrier just puts 2 on the ground. If you flip the gun and pull it in close you can get real fast with an armband and sidesaddle as you dont have to move your hands much. This is in front sight also. I have found using shells with dark cases vs. red on the sidesaddle and armband helps with target pickup.
  22. Alot depends on the state you are in, the laws for use of force differ greatly in each and every state CCW or not. A very informative book on the subject no matter where you live is Florida Firearms - Law, use & ownership by Jon H. Gutmacher, Esq. w Depending on the state you are in, you will find much of the information you will here in gunshops and even by talking to law enforcement officers is either flawed or outright bogus. I believe I have seen a similar book about Texas firearms laws. No matter what keep a busness card of a good firearms friendly attorney and perhaps judge behind your CCW permit.
  23. Did Rob shoot a singlestack????????
  24. Now that the match is done before this topic dies off, I would like to thank our host and everyone for the updates. Congratulations to all that helped represent USPSA by hosting and helping out with the match. And good Job to all the competitors, not just the super squad.
