Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Tightloop.......I guess the short answer would be: because I didn't know any better. (It sure is good looking though !!)
  2. I don't have enough flexibility in my wrist to draw from a forward-cant holster (muzzle rearward) without throwing my shoulder forward a little, or slightly bending at the waist, or some of both. Is this considered OK form for IDPA / IPSC, or should I change holsters toward more of a straight drop (vertical gun) until I can draw without forward shoulder movement? Thanx for any input.........
  3. Hey thanx........maybe I should have asked this question on some other forum..........so by the way, where do you find some of these "tactical forums" or "LEO forums" ??
  4. WOW !! That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanx for all the responses.......
  5. Does anyone out there have the formula for calculating ft lbs of energy, using the velocity (fps) and bullet weight (grains) ?? Thanx......
  6. Does anyone have a rough estimate of typical .45 reloading costs ? I'm talking about cheap stuff, nothing fancy in bullet or brass etc. I've got all the equipment, and even a start of 500 brass. I'm getting Blazer, alum cases, for $9.65 per box of 50, and am not sure it's worth the time and effort to reload. Any guesses on the long term cost of a reloaded box of 50 ?? Thanx..........
  7. Does anyone out there have any thoughts about using the new Federal Expanding FMJ or Corbon Powerball (.45 acp) for personal defense, instead of the usual hollowpoints ? The reason I ask is that I've seen a good hollowpoint (Black Talon .45 acp) plug up with hair and hide and not expand at all, and it seems this problem is not all that uncommon. The ExpFMJ and Powerball seem like a perfect solution to that problem. Your thoughts ?
  8. Thanx Eric.........found it. Good info....that's exactly the kind of legal and practical discussion I want to hear more of. If anyone else is interested, I found it at "Questions that don't fit anywhere" Pg. 3 ...........Topic "Who here carries" Pg. 5
  9. Thanx for the suggestions........will order some of Ayoob's books. I didn't find anything about "Kelly Neal" ??? Who? What? Where? Thanx again for the responses..........
  10. I'm looking for a good source of info (books, etc) re: rules of thumb and general guidance for potential real life CCW situations. A "do's and don't s" sort of thing. Such as, how do you make sure other good guys (police, CCW, etc) don't mistake YOU for a BAD guy? What are some of the more important legal considerations ?? How dire should the situation get before you'd draw and engage? I'm sure each situation would hinge on it's own particulars, but there must be some standard guidelines and "textbook" approaches. Thanx for any info sources you can provide............
