Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have used these as well. The best!
  2. I like the Burkett DVDs (Vol 1-3 and Vol 4) and also purchased a couple of the Barnhart DVDs. You can get Barnhart's separately now from Brownell's. You used to have to buy the entire set of tapes. Brian's book is the very first thing I bought and I've highlighted almost the entire book. It is that good. Another good book I have is "Shooting From Within" by J. Michael Plaxco but I understand that it is hard to find now. I'm a Class C shooter in Limited with USPSA. I took a 3-day class from Todd Jarrett. Todd is a great guy and I did improve somewhat but if I had it to do over again now I wouldn't take the class. I just didn't feel it was worth what I paid. I'm not trying to talk you out of it if that is where you're headed. Read Brian's book, get the videos and practice what they teach, follow these good folks' recommendations for dry fire and LOTS of practice then see if you need to spend the money on a class. Patience grasshopper! You can buy a new gun for what you'll spend on a class!
  3. I have the TJ tape. Save your money and put it toward either Matt Burkett's or The Burner Series. I have Burkett's 1-3 and 4. Play them quite a bit. VERY good. Brownell's now has Burner DVD's and you can buy the set or individual ones. I just ordered one of the volumes.
  4. Realize this is a tad dated but wanted to add my experience in case someone would want someone else's experience. I had a Safariland belt, a 2001 CR Speed Holster, and Safariland 773 mag holders. The holster will fit the Safariland belt BUT loosely unless you add the supplied plastic wedge spacer which I lost during my first match, probably after the first or second stage. I used a twig I jammed in for the remainder of the season which worked. I just bought a CR Speed belt. The 773 mag holders are a tight fit so exercise care. The holster fits perfectly - it should. Also, the velcro faces the "right" way so now I don't trash my car seats getting in and out. Now I'm happy!
  5. Simon. I use a good old inexpensive Uncle Mike's Kydex and also use their mag holders. They have worked great for me.
  6. CR Speed. Shooter's Paradise $44.99
  7. Got to agree with John Dunn, I have the CR Speed holster and Safariland belt. The velcro is a pain when you get in and out of a car. I compete at a huge range and you just have to drive between some stages. If you remove your outer belt then you'll stick to the seats. I should have / and am getting the CR Speed belt. Just wanted to make sure my Safariland 773 mag pouches would work with it first. Thanks zhunter.
  8. Do the Safariland 771 and/or 773 mag holders fit the CR Speed belt okay?
  9. Pretty much addressed in Post "Fastest L10 legal belt rig?" Asked my question there.
  10. I bought the I-Shot Pro Shooters Range Bag from MLE Shooting Sports for a tad under $50 and love it. Plenty of space for my stuff. I shoot USPSA and have used it the last two matches and it works great for me. When I visited the NRA National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia recently they had the exact same bag for about the same price with the NRA logo embroided on it. Looked nice. If you want even more room they have the Tournament Range Bag for around $90. Their price is hard to beat and I have absolutely no complaints with mine.
  11. I love my Para 16-40. Bought it from Dawson Precision and it was a special work-up ("Dawson-Jarrett", as in Todd Jarrett) they were selling. I'm not sure if they still have it but you could check their web site. I shoot USPSA Limited with it and LOVE it. Dawson did some "special" stuff to it. Great gun.
  12. The pic of the TruGrip sure looks a lot like skateboard tape and I get mine for free. If you do a template first then cut it out you can make it just as nice.
  13. Okay, so maybe they get hot. How about cold? Shooting in Virginia I have a few months shooting matches outside that it would feel real uncomfortable to grab an ice cold grip on a gun from a holster. Don't have as much of a problem with rubber or wood - or maybe it's just what I envision grabbing a gun with metal grips on it and it is close to freezing outside. Tried gloves but the skateboard tape really trashes them pretty quickly.
  14. These new rules baffle me. My good old Uncle Mikes cost $17 w/tax. Now I gotta spend $$$ for a new holster. As to your question I think you'll only find out the next time you shoot an IDPA match. I wonder about the "thinnest" in the product description. From the new rule book: "G. Must be constructed of normal thickness common holster making materials (leather, Kydex, plastic, nylon, etc.)." So, what is normal thickness? Hopefully you won't have some jerk measuring the thickness!
