Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The OPS looks cool. And it is apparently certified ninja equipment. Only thing I don't like about it is that it is stainless (gotta black it out somehow) and the $. If anybody is interested, this the OPS during dusk: Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 2 is similar to what the 16" with the BM AK brake put out. OPS Brake Full Auto M4
  2. I was under the impression that the only thing prohibiting us Kalifornians (who already have AR's) and non-Kalifornians was the federal Crime Bill from putting on a threaded barrel and other "evil" features on a post-ban rifle. http://caag.state.ca.us/firearms/regs/sb23.htm SB23 back in 2000 required us to register "evil" weapons and stopped the further sale and transfer of such weapons in Kaliban. Now I know that if I bought a Mini-14 today (and therefore wasn't registered back in 2000) I can't slap on a threaded barrel, flash suppressor or other evil features because of 1) the federal Crime Bill and 2) SB23. So if the Crime Bill sunsets, only 2) SB23 would stop us Kalifornians from slapping on "evil" features. But if the above link is the full text or result of SB23, the only thing that I see that can stop someone from putting on banned features is a lack of registration. The words "manufacture", "assemble" or "create" isn't even on the text of SB23. So which Kali law prohibits registered owners of post-ban AR's/M1A's/FALS etc. to put on more "evil" features? A clarification would help me out in a future modification. I want to put a compensator on a post ban. A threaded barrel makes putting on compensators with ease. I would greatly prefer to wait until the Crime Bill sunsets and just thread the barrel. But if it doesn't affect Kalifornians, then I would have to regretably have the compensator permanently welded on.
  3. A run of the mill A shooter with a pump vs. a run of the mill A shooter with a working auto? I'd say the guy with the auto will, overall, trounce the guy with the pump gun. If the skill levels are different and the pump shooter is more experienced and skilled then I think a pump shooter can have a chance.
  4. Well the thing is I don't want to be switching around the muzzle device. It's just impractical in my view and I want to have the same feel/gun with for both social and play occasions (though in reality it is all likely to be just play). I took a class during the summer. During the night portion the participants shot-off rounds one by one. We each announced the ammo we were shooting and each shot off two rounds one-by-one down the line. The whole exercise was to show how the different ammo/guns flashed. Pretty cool IMHO. I was shooting Q3131A with an A2 FS. After I shot the instructor commented how little flash the Winchester had. Another shooter with an A2 produced no flash that I remember. What surprised me, was a guy shooting a 16" BM with an AK muzzle brake barely put out any flash. While a guy with a 20" with no muzzle device made huge fireball flashes. Also surprising was a guy shooting a Kaliban legal M1A (with the SA compensator) also barely put out a flash. I'm sure that the ammo selection played a huge part. But I came to the conclusion (rightly or wrongly) that 1) different compensators have different flash levels and 2) a compensator can hide the flash better than a bare-muzzle. I've read all sorts of posts saying the AK brakes/compensator put out a lot of blast. They may put out more noticeable blast, but from what I saw they have a minimal amount flash (with the right ammo). So in short... I don't think they are mutually exclusive. You can both reduce flash and jump with a compensator.
  5. Ron Smith? Is this the Smith Enterprises muzzle brake on the bottom of this link? http://dillonprecision.com/template/p.cfm?...67&min=0&dyn=1&
  6. If the Crime Bill sunsets how will this affect us Californians? I know we still can't get high caps or buy AR's/FALS/etc. But for those who already had post-ban AR's/FALS/etc can we legally put threaded barrels (without welding/soldering something on) on a post-ban? Can we put those cool bayo-lugs and flash suppressors back on our guns? (Sorry if this is the wrong-forum for this.)
  7. I have a pre-ban shorty that I want to set-up for both social occasions and 3-gun. I currently have a standard A2 flash suppresor on the shorty. I was reading through all the compensator posts and rediscovered the EGW. Since I want to use this gun for social occasions I wanted the muzzle device to also suppress the flash in addition to lessening muzzle rise. Since the EGW is basically an A2 with a restricted end, does it also suppress the flash? How is the blast with the EGW?
  8. Thanks. I'll check into it. I found this site on rifle stuff. Haven't read all of it but it has pictures of Tubb on them. http://www.rifleshootermag.com/shooting_tips/ BE regular Sweeney wrote this: http://www.rifleshootermag.com/shooting_tips/accuracy_101/
  9. The elbow thread got me curious. Is there anything like this: http://www.practicalshootingacad.com/moder...ting_stance.htm on the web for rifle/shotgun? Where the stance/form of a long gun shooter is explained and analyzed and such?
  10. What do you guys mean by "up"? Do you mean the upper arm is parallel to the ground? Or is it even higher than that?
  11. Tape is what I am using now. Only problem is, I think one of the mags may be a problem mag. Because of bulkiness I only have one set (two mags) taped. The rest are singles. Swapping out the bad one can't be easily done out in the field/match. Stinger, With the Fobus, say it does come apart with impact, can you still easily put them together after the stage is done? Will they remain together if you smack one of the mags while reloading?
  12. Of the mag couplers in the market (the one that attaches two mags together) which one is the best (or which one are you using)? Are the Fobus OK?
  13. I did this with a Beretta (used a 92 Taurus barrel in a Beretta 96 EII). Like the above posts mention the extraction was less than ideal (ejection wasn't as strong/far) but it still ran 100% for the 2-300 rounds I shot it. The sights were a little bit off too. I finally broke down and bought a top-end on Ebay.
  14. I have an 1100 with an Easy Loader. When I reload, it feels somewhat clunky. When I push on the Easy Loader I can feel herky-jerky resistance. Anybody have any experience in making it smoother? I was thinking of shortening/lightening the spring for the Easy Loader to make it easier to push. Is this a bad idea? I don't see why the spring has to be that strong. Also I was going to break the edges a little bit and just polish everything. Any tips on what I should specifically polish?
  15. What do you care? I thought you were jumping ship and going to IDPA?
