  1. Make sure you get a u-die (egw has a great one) and like other have mentioned load to a 1.10-1.20. Make sure your magazine feed lips are correct and you should be ready to compete. I watched Bob krogh win a number of matches with an sti edge. Sti has always stood behind their product wit me even replacing a 10+ year old 2011 grip at no charge.
  2. Dillon 650 and pick your single stage. The 650 is the best re-loader I have ever owned. Dillon is a big sponsor at many shooting events and their customer service is second to none.
  3. I had the same problem and backed off the crimp to solve it.
  4. Tight group works for both rounds mentioned in additon to .40 and .45. Just go slow and look down each round to verify powder.
  5. I have 8lbs of WSF so I though what the hell. I didn't shoot enough of them to speak about clean or dirty but they felt as soft as my n320 loads. 5.5g WSF 1.1800 OAL Crimp .416 WSP Extreme Plated 180g ~90* outside (love az in the early morning) These were shot through a SS with a 5" Kart Barrel (know to be a bit faster than normal) My first shot is always slow out of this gun. 908 981 945 953 930 930 931 954 ~941.5 PF 169.4
  6. What would be the most accurate round / gun for hunting turkey. (Head shot) I was thinking a 22-250 but am open to anything. I don't want to break the bank but am open to an new rifle.
  7. N320 on a Bayou 180g shoots great for me. I have been loaded them since I found the bayous. I also have been having good luck with Winchester WSF. Its a little more dirty but a much cheaper and easier to find power if you want a slower burning power. I loaded WSF @ 1.180 OAL and can notice a difference in the recoil. (over the shorter rounds)
  8. I have had great luck with the frontier 230 rn.
  9. My 170 tube runs perfect and gets 30 with sc, 29 with 9mm.
  10. It's just a weight thing for me. 99% of the time the loaded gun +1 magazine are more than enough. Funny thing though I will, bet I have a few rounds in,my pocket + knife ect ect.
  11. Frames are different but I don't know if this is the cause....subscribing.
  12. I carry 2 20`s and a 20 with 11 rounds in the back for big matches. (4 total with the man in the gun). My though is less weight and in the of shit moment I have at least 1 position in my deep reserve. 99% of the time I don't get past the gun + reload mag but I did have a big match where I was 1 round short do to a missed reload and jam. It happened to be a popper so mike + Fte. Local matches I carry 3 total mags. (20,20,11)
  13. You can shoot a local match twice for 15-25. If there is no prize table what is the point of paying more for a L1 match?
  14. Bayous will smoke less (and not smell like burnt electric) with. A slower burning powder. I'm running a 124g rn bayou with 4.3g IMR pb (close to n320) 1.130 oal. This load make a 136 and is very accurate. 4.3 pb 124g MG jhp 1.100oal made a 131 and is the softest 9mm round I have shot. (The chrono guy at A2 thought I went sub minor for sure. 3.9g tight group 124gn bayou 1.130oal 133pf. (More smoke) All loads above were out of a dw pm9.
  15. My shawdow liked 1.130 with rn bullets and 1.100 with jhp's.
  16. I have owned and shot both. (Dan Wesson PM9, CZ Custom SP01) The 1911 hands down has less felt recoil. Both are soft shooting but my preference is the 1911.
  17. I run a 124 rn bayou through 2 1911 9mm, and my glocks. The bayou's don't like much crimp so you may need to back off your final crimp a bit. These loads were very accurate and soft shooting out of the 1911. 124 Bayou RN 4.3g IMR PB (~135pf) or 3.9g Tight Group (~130pf) 1.130 oal 5" 1911
  18. 1.130 feeds reliably in my sp01,1911 and glock 19/34. The cz's generally like a shorter oal but mine never had a hickup with this length.
  19. You will want 10rd magazines for uspsa. I'm not sure if their are magazine capacity restrictions in the speed steel.
  20. With plated and jacketed I run a 1.180 with zero issues. The bayous seemed to like 1.150 better. (4.8g n320, 1.150 made a 171pf very consistently in mine)
  21. When is the last time you cleaned the magazine?
  22. send it back to sti. they have awesome customer service and have experienced gunsmiths in the warranty department. make sure you send a mag or 2 with it so they can test them.
  23. I shoot frontier plated (180g) for steel/weekend USPSA match and mg 180 jhp for big matches. I have not noticed a big difference in accuracy but there is more variability with the bullet weight in the frontier plated bullets. 178-181g the mg's are great bullets but I have a hard time justifying the extra cost.
