  1. Six grains Unique, 200 gr SWC makes major most months. 6.2 makes major in freezing weather (to -5F). I like the recoil impulse of unique. JJH
  2. Tick has a real problem here, mostly starting with OLDER SHOOTERS, who have been around a while and don't like the way they preceive things going. USPSA rules are starting to be enforced, and it take "some of the fun" out of things for some people. Few, if any of his problem folks have taken a leadership role in the last five years or more, but kibitz from the sideline. Few would be a loss to the club, and new member retention would go up. OOMV
  3. I see how it works out the right window, but how does it work out the left?
  4. When you find it, be sure and share! JJH
  5. NO! Unless you are a dealer, or state law requires, you are not getting a copy of our FFL. You can legally ship for repairs or transfer to an FFL holder under Federal law. If you choose to have an FFL holder ship the gun, the dealers will exchange licenses. GunBroker has a clause about the seller getting a copy of FFL’s, but we will not send one except to another dealer. Funny things happen with licenses floating around, even when marked “File Copy”, and clearly a copy. Had a gun trace once were the gun was shown received by us from a basement dealer. No record of the gun, and no license on file. No out for the gun. Turns out under audit, this guy had a handfull of other shop licenses, from one customer, but did a face to face handover of several guns with no 4473. None of the other shops had his FFL. Complete fraud. Last year, of 3000 transfers, 10% were non-4473. If you have a question of the dealers standing or viability, go to ATF and use EZ-CHECK. And if you want to make it easy on the receiving FFL, include a clear copy of your state ID.
  6. Milllcreek PSL, second Saturday of the month in Desoto KS, Topeka third Sunday of the month at CCPS (both listed on USPSA site. Practice every Tuesday night in Kearney ( thearmoryonline) and Friday night at the Bullet Hole. KC is fairly active. Jefferson Cith and Oceloa Iowa also have monthly matches.
  7. "You let your wife look in your safe?!?!?!?!?! " Dude, my wife bought my last two safes for me, as well as the 1050!
  8. Remove the part that won't fit in the gauge. Use a smooth cut file. Polish with a stone or cratex when done
  9. You might keep an eye on this auction: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/SearchResults.asp Carful posting all 12 boxes at ohne time. You might glut the market.
  10. I use the same bullet as my .45 load, and they run great. We also retail them, and most of the KC area guys that shoot cast use Mid States. The owner is great to deal with.
  11. Mil-Tac grips from Craig. The vertical black and gray look the best, and have a good bite. Good guy to deal with. http://www.mil-tac.com/grip_patterns.htm
  12. Over-travel. The amount the trigger moves after the sear trips. Leave a little.
  13. Active military in California? He may be stuck with the Springfield, which is not all that bad. The loaded models seem to do well in our area, and run with box ammo fine. While I would probably go for the Spartan elsewhere, it may not be an option for him at this point in time.
  14. On the retail side, it is getting tough. Try telling someone shot is $40 a bag or more, and 30-30 ammo is a buck a pop.
  15. Bagmaster nakes a stage bag that I like. Open top, holds gun, magazines, and couple boxes of ammo. Its a litle different that the one you have pictured. They are normally sold with thier range bag, but can be purchased seperatly.
  16. Concealed or hammerless is the way to go. Standard carry trigger job will slick it a bit, and the 340 will not hang-up as easily on the draw. Forces the use of intentional double action only pull, which in most areas is a good thing.
  17. The switch is easy, but we have seen more of the acrylic backs break, than the plain black backplates.
  18. Zero was behind for a while, but we just got 31,000 9mm bullets last week. None of the suppliers in the Midwest have regular Federal primers, although some of the smaller shops may have some squirreled away. Federal Match primers are available at Jerry’s and Grafs. At least we are not shooting box ammo much.
  19. Do any of our clubs have a member disciplinary policy? For the moment, put the USPSA rulebook aside; I am concentrating on member behavior that places the club at risk, not general safety violations or DQ’s. The NROI policy is headed in the right direction, but I’m wondering about the club/membership level.
  20. Check the manufacture’s web page. Brownell’s does not always carry all the items they offer.
  21. If schedules work out, I would shoot both days. JJH
  22. Must be a result of age. There used to be a MasterLock commercial, were a 30-30 was used. Lock never failed. Always made a nice ad when the Rifleman was on.
  23. We finally got our records straight for the match. With a BOD donation, Mill Creek PSL will write a check for $1206. The Bullet Hole Practical Shooting Club has chipped in $250, and the K. C. Shooting Masters have donated $544. Total donation will be $2000. Thanks to everyone who helped!
  24. I think you are going to find the guarantee clause pretty common for a corporation with no assets. We used to require it a lot in leases with Mom and Pop corporations. Keeps the office holders from skipping with the cash if tings get tough. It usually took the form of the corporate officers also signing as individuals to the agreement.
