Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. For those that are using practiscore to score steel challenge matches, how are you setting up practiscore? Using it as a USPSA match, time plus, time plus with points. Curious as to how everyone is doing it, and what is the easiest way to do it. Tom
  2. Happy Birthday counselor. Hope all is well in corn country. Tom
  3. When are you coming to town? We won't start anything outdoors until end of March or April depending on weather. The local IDPA guys shoot indoors at shooters in Racine twice a month. That is only 25 minutes from Burlington. The company I work for is based in Burlington, what are you going to be doing in town for a month. Tom
  4. I just talked to one of the other clubs in the area by me. They are using Kindle Fires for there tablets. They are an indoor club though. They said you could see them just fine outside though, and you do not have to root them. They are more expensive though. Anybody have any experience with these devices. Just found this site. Anybody ever try this before. http://root-android.org/
  5. We want to try practiscore this year at our club. But this whole rooting thing is way over my pay grade. Does anybody have a device that would work that we dont have to mess with rooting that would work as good as the NST. I am an Apple user, so I am comfortable with the apple products. But is the whole outside glare, battery life problem that bad with the Ipods. I just know there is no way I could root one of those NSt with out wanting to blow my brains out when It does not work. Or is anybody willing to sell some NST's already rooted for practiscore. Tom
  6. You do not have to stay hot between stages. If you want to unload your gun then do so. At area 5 2 years ago at Pasa, they had two small stages in one bay, they wanted to keep you hot between stages. We had a shooter shoot the first stage, stay hot, go over to the second stage, Ro says "make ready", shooter proceeds to pull his gun for the sight picture, pull the trigger like he always does for his sight picture, and off goes the gun. Shooters fault, no one argued that. He was DQ"ed. I asked Jay Worden, The CRO on the stage if we had to stay hot between stages, and he said no. After seeing that in person I no longer remain hot between stages, you are just asking for trouble. Tom
  7. Just picked up a bunch tonight for our steel match this week-end. 2.95 a can at Menards. Tom
  8. I used to collect paint through out the year for our annual steel challenge match. We would dump it all in 5 gallon buckets and mix it all together, get the cheap paint rollers from menards and have at it. I got sick of the mess and clean up though. Last year I went back to white spray paint. Spent countless hours with an air chisel and wire brush getting the build up of paint off of our targets. Some of the targets had 3/8" of paint build up on them. The paint always came out with a pink tint to it. It didn't matter what color we put in to the mix, it always came out pink.
  9. Been a carpenter for 24 years. Wear wrist braces at night when you go to bed. It will help a little bit. Tom
  10. We just raised our match fees to $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Our first match with the increased prices we had a record 77 people show up for the match. 6 stages plus classifier. $35 does seem a little high for a local. Tom
  11. Depending on what you have available for equipment, the easiest way is to stack your dirt up bigger than you want. Compact it in lifts( every 2 feet), and then"sculpt" your berm to the proper size. That is how they built the berms in Tulsa. That is the only way to get a small footprint and a lot of height. We use the blocks from the ready-mix companies at our gun club. It cost us more to transport them and set them, than the cost of the block itself. Tom
  12. I am a carpenter by trade, and the Duluth Trading firehose work pants are the best pants I have tried in a long time. They are comfortable, durable, have plenty of pockets. I used to be a Carhart guy until I tried the Duluth's. http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/mens/duluth-ingenuity/fire-hose-workwear/fire-hose-workwear.aspx Tom
  13. I would be more concerned about the baggage guys stealing your guns then the laws of the land. Chicago is known for stuff going missing out of your bags. Make sure your guns are inside your main luggage, not in a separate case that says, something expensive inside. Tom
  14. We are shooting USPSA down at Schultz's this week-end. Not to far of a drive from Oshkosh. Tom
  15. That is a PC 625. It also has a shortened cylinder. Mine came with a greenish color JM grips. Is it any better than a regular 625 with a 5" barrel? Probably not. But those are getting hard to find as well. For 800 I would grab it. Tom
