  1. We currently shoot 3 pistol, usually a shotgun and a rifle COF each month on a club basis. To enhance participation, several members have suggested different side matches, using the same basic pistol COF’s. So far, thoughts have included a match for carbines (in pistol caliber), .22 rimfire, a revolver friendly setup (6 rounds from a position), and a backup gun (5 rounds, short yardage). If we did two COF’s each month as a side match for one of these choices, it would give everyone an additional chance to shot those seldom used guns in the safe. Any other thought? Have any of the clubs experienced problems with these types of events? Thanks to everyone for your help.
  2. I shoot a 5" into "C" class for a couple years. Get some good 10 round mags, and drop check the barrel with your ammo. Some are chambered tight. The only problem I had was shooting off the back site. Replaced it with a Millet, and shoot that off as well. I would start this way again. Good luck.
  3. I do the same tuning as singlestack, only remove the follower and use a lead jaw vise. Little bit goes a long way, and usually just on the upper end.
  4. And to muddy the issue a little more, do I make up a dropped shot on the El Presidente? On any one target, if I drop a shot , I've got +5 for an A, 0 points earned for the miss and down 10 for the miss penalty. Total -5 and my time. If I shot three times, and get 2 A's, I'm up 10 points, but loose 10 for the extra shot penalty for zero on that target, plus time(which is better than down -5). Is that all correct? If I move to a fixed time event, where misses are not penalized, I'm +5 for an A and a miss. Shot three times and get 2 A's and I'm up 10 in earned points, and penalized 10 for the extra shot for a target score of zero plus my time. Thanks.
  5. Let me shorten this question. One A on scoring portion of target, one hit on hard cover portion of target. Do I take an extra shot, and strive for an A, or stop, and not get an extra shot penalty and save the time? If I stop wiht two shots, I've got +5 for the A, and -10 for the miss and my time. If I take a third shot for an A, I'm up 10 points (two A's), and down 10 for the extra shot penalty. Zero for that target, and the time is wasted. There is not penalty for the extra hit, since it is in the nonscoring portion. Is this correct? Don't take the third shot?
  6. Need some help. On Virgina Count, and a target with partial hardcover, hit two A's on scoring portion, and one hole on the hard cover. Do I incur penalties, or not. If I hit the hard cover early, do I make up the shot as seems to be allowed under 9.4.4.2 (Hits on hard cover do not count as extra hits) Thanks in advance. JJH
  7. At the last RO class I took, the instructor flatly stated that a discharge while loading or clearing a malfunction was, in his words “prima facia (sp) evidence” of a finger inside the trigger guard, and grounds for a DQ. The shooter would have to convenience the arbitration committee the incident was an equipment malfunction. Don't know that I like it, but thought I would pass it on.
  8. The 14th edition of the rules is pretty clear for USPSA. Appendix E states no more than 10 rounds in the magazine for production. There was a long discussion on one of the forums about L-10 and barney bulletts. 10 means 10, not 11 or more, even to load on command. 10 in the mag, strip one into the chamber, and reload the mag or insert a full one. Same issue applies to production. That said, are you sure the other guy is shooting production? We have a few who shoot that style gun in Limited. Good luck!
  9. Check your bullets. I used to have a lot of problems wiht one brand of cast bullets throwing strange OAL's, and went thru the same things you are. In the end, the local caster had some bad molds. Try a box of good jacketed bullets, and see if your efforts aren't more effective.
  10. You did not mention the frame type. If its single stack, shoot L-10. If its wide body, you might want to shot L-10 anyway. (L-10 is ten rounds in the Magazine) Put the 5" slide on and shoot a limited division of some type. Its hard to run with the big guys in open with a .45, but it would sure get their attention.
