  1. Glock mags aren't NEARLY as bad as STI mags, so I'd plan to have at least 4. That's what I had when I shot my M&P40 in limited, and like everyone else has said, it makes life A LOT easier. Another point is grabbing a mag with an extended base pad on it for a reload is going to feel different than grabbing a factory magazine. The consistency of grabbing the mag the same way every time will help with your reloads. Just a thought.
  2. Where did you get yours from? The powder I mean.
  3. I bet I could make it to the bottom faster than he could. Except I'd take a more linear route.
  4. That was plain silly. This classifier-video will shed some light. Touche, sir. Well played.
  5. For those of you who don't get it, This should clear it up:
  6. Strangely enough, I just heard about this powder the other day. A shooter from your area called Joel mentioned it to me. I'm thinking about giving it a try for practice ammo. N-320 is getting expensive
  7. Don't ever forget about accuracy but the general rule I've been told is shoot at least 90% of the available points as fast as you can. Or as some of the wiser (read: older ) shooters have told me, shoot as fast as you can SEE.
  8. P.S. I want to know about the empty box as well.
  9. My last order I got two cases. One came just fine (but I had to call because it didn't get shipped along with the first) and the other came torn up badly. I even think some bullets fell out because the heavy plastic bag they come in isn't sealed, just wrapped around the bulk of the bullets. That said, I like their bullets and the guy who I called quickly found it and shipped it immediately.
  10. Is that really true, or is there some mistake with the data? There are at least two people who post on this forum every day who are GMs in SS. I just checked the SS nats results, 5 GMs competed this year, two of which were GMS last year. Wow, maybe there really are only 9 SS GMs. That's pretty bad ass. There are only 9. Johnny Brister is the most recent GM in SS and the first person to be a GM in all six divisions.
  11. Some guy will completely disable the slide lock in order to prevent the slide from locking back with one round left in the mag. This is known to happen with 2011's.
  12. I'm a loser. Or did anyone else do a double take because they thought they saw a magwell on the revolver?
  13. Well since you're so close to the match, Atlanta Arms and Ammo or Precision Delta is out of the question. Blazer 180 grain says it makes major easy (according to the site it's about 177-180pf) out of a 4inch barrel. And since it's readily available, it might be your best bet. I've used the aluminum cased stuff when a friend gave me a case. It didn't seem to flip TOO bad. However I never chrono'd it so I'm not positive about the pf. But with the 180 grain stuff making about 180 power factor, you've got a pretty good cushion.
  14. It depends on the gun. Some guns (STI/SV's) like the rounds loaded longer than SAAMI spec. If you can give me more details on the gun, and the caliber (I'm assuming 9mm or .38 super), I can help you out more.
  15. The "loose fit bushing" is their "bench bushing." It allows you to quickly remove the barrel from the slide (as you will have to do A LOT) as you file down the pads on the barrel lugs. If you have any questions, call up Kart. Fred Kart himself will walk you through any questions you have. Otherwise, you can PM me and I'll see if I can answer anything for you. *experience: I fit one not too long ago.
  16. I like N320 for my lead. I've heard of people with good results with Solo 1000. Whose bullets are you using? If you cast it yourself, what lube are you using? The lube is what is responsible for most of the smoke.
  17. How hard is it to replace an M&P slide stop? I managed to somehow break mine completely off internally. I called S&W and the customer service guy seemed to be having a bad day. I've stripped the gun before for the Burwell DIY trigger job so I'm comfortable taking it apart. The customer service guy just sounded reluctant when I told him I wanted to order the part and not send it in.
  18. This will be my first Area match. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
  19. The first match I ever shot was with Johnny Brister. He's a nice guy and great to be around and I'm proud to call him a friend. Congrats Johnny!
  20. For those familiar with the term: BOHICA
  21. I'm surprised I haven't heard of a bullet feeder for the 550 yet. Where did you find it? And has the casefeeder been reliable for you? Which of the two between the case and bullet feeder has had a more profound effect on speed.
  22. For the problem with the case being crushed at the powder station, I used to have the EXACT same problem. Tighten down that center bolt on the shellplate to where the case will not rock hardly at all. This keeps the case more vertical, allowing the powder funnel to slide in without catching the lip of the case. The primer issue, I also had this issue. I'm willing to bet you are having my same mistake. The 550 ships with the large primer tube in the primer system. Look inside the primer system where the little cup would catch the next primer to be loaded, if the cap on the end of the tube is red, there's your problem. That's the large primer tube. Swap it out with the small primer tube. Let me know if I can help.
  23. Thanks for the response guys. This will be my first S_I limited gun and all the hype surrounding SV tubes, I guess I was expecting to open the box and a chorus of angels chime in as the tubes began to emit their own light. I will certainly still post pictures if anyone wants a better idea of how they look.
