  1. I've tried at least 50 times so far. Is he bringing his arm back so that the heel of his hand hits his pectoral and then slamming it back forward?
  2. Could it possibly be that the KKM barrel is slightly tighter, and therefore pushing the bullet faster?
  3. UPDATE: I put my chrono in the shade, paced off 14 feet, fired the exact same load and voila! The results speak for themselves. String #1: #1: 1023 fps #2: 1020 fps #3: 995.5 fps #4: 1009 fps #5: 991.7 fps #6: 1002 fps There was still the extreme spread of 32fps. But I consider that acceptable. Thanks for all the advice gentlemen! I had no idea having the chrono out in the direct sunlight would have such a dramatic effect.
  4. What are different aspects of stance that I can try to see what works for me? (sorry if that makes zero sense) My biggest problem lately is my splits. I just switched permanently to major loads from minor loads about 400 rounds ago, and my split times went down considerably. I was right around .20 seconds with my minor loads, and now I'm at .30+. These times are for A zone hits at 7 yards, not just blazing away. Also, am I understanding right that just shooting lots and lots of major PF in practice will help the most with getting back on target quickly?
  5. Which muscles are used in controlling recoil? I'm a smaller guy and I've watched other guys shoot the same gun with the same load and the muzzle barely rises at all. What can I do to keep that muzzle down??
  6. Whew! Now I feel better. With the shortage, all I've been able to find is Rem primers, so that's what I've been using. Anyone else want to elaborate with what exactly their problems were with the Rem SP?
  7. Are these the official shirts that you order on your entry form? Or separate shirts?
  8. ill be driving back and forth all 4 days Good Night!! How far away are you driving from?
  9. Is everyone still having trouble with Remington SP primers? I've shot several thousand and not had any trouble. Am I the exception?
  10. It will proabably not make major. I load 4.3 to 4.4 @ 1.170 OAL for a 172 PF and this is with a 6 in barrel. I feel certain it won't. I had to load up 5.5 grains of WST to just make 168 PF out of a 4.25 inch barrel. OAL was 1.13"
  11. I'll be there! Sent in my stuff today! D class limited is gonna be mine! That is, of course, assuming I'm classified in limited by then!!
  12. Shot mine the other day as well. I have the brass magwell. I'm still new at the game (U in limited), but I did alright, all things considered. I had never shot a major load out of my M&P, and worked up a load the night before the match, so I wasn't quite used to the recoil. However, I can say it flips less than several S_I limited guns I've tried. 21 rounds to start isn't bad either! I'm having a problem with only one of my basepads, (can only load 17) but Kenny is fixing me up!
  13. Unfortunately, I agree. I felt like there was a little too much of a "preachy" attitude. Another good read, and FREE, is "Lights Out." Just google Lights out survival story and you should find it.
  14. It says that with anything fired sub sonically, the muzzle blast will definitely interfere. I'll try varying distances, with known velocity ammo first. Keep the suggestions coming.
  15. I just want to be sure the chrono can take consistent readings. So from the muzzle to the first fork of the chrono, you'd suggest around 12-14 feet?
  16. The skies were clear. Maybe I should back up further? Around 20 feet or so just to see if I'll get consistent readings?
  17. I had to get 5.5 grains of WST before I got up to the 1,000 fps I need to make major with the 170 grain precisions I'm using. And even then, my chrono was spotty, spitting out inconsistent velocities. See my new thread in the general reloading area.
  18. Thanks for the quick response, Jim. I'm going back out early in the morning and try it in the shade. What do you mean it could be picking up muzzle blast?
  19. I started a thread in the .40 loading section but I thought this topic fit better here. I just loaded up some rounds to try to make major out of my M&P40. 170 grain precision molys, loaded to 1.130", I also had to use 5.5 grains of WST (we'll get to that in a minute). I stopped every 5 rounds while loading on my 550 to check the powder charge, and got the usual tiny bit of variance (i'm using a balance scale) but at the chrono, my velocities were all over the place. #1: 920 #2: 1012 #3: 956 #4: 905 #5: 1001 #6: 1032 I'm using a shooting chrony F1. Could the crappy chrono be the problem? Should I switch to chrono with my Pact MKIV?
  20. Thanks for the heads up Kgunz. I'll be buying an extra couple 1000. You know. Just in case.
