  1. Oh trust me I know. I've been debating the pro's and con's of different badger brushes all day. Huh. There's something I'd never though I'd say.
  2. Odd...since your avatar is all about "identifying wood" Touche', Flex. Touche'. Although.... You're the first person to ever mention that. So what does that tell me is first on your mind?
  3. I hate modern day online shipping charges. Which is one reason why I haven't raised my store's shipping charges since 2004. be Which is why I order anything I can from you.
  4. Man I hate shaving....I really hate those crazy expensive blades for a Mach (what ever number they are on now) razor. I might have to try this. What is a good economical safety razor? I would rather not spend 100 bucks for one and not like it. From what I'm hearing as long as I use good blades i should be ok right? I've been doing research on the side and put together a kit from www.knifecenter.com (Merkur CC163 safety razor, Badger brush, brush stand, soap, and extra blades for about $60+ shipping). The guys over at www.badgerandblade.com recommended that Merkur razor because it was relatively cheap but very high quality. Think of it like reloading. May not pay off the first time you do it, but over time it'll pay off and it's a rewarding experience.
  5. You guys have talked me into it. I'm going to try to buy a kit soon.

When my order finally gets shipped, it'll come out to $140/case including shipping. Who'd you order from, if you don't mind me asking?
  7. You might have better luck putting a Wanting to Buy (WTB) ad in the classifieds section of the Miscellaneous forum.
  8. You don't have to change the mainspring if you change recoil springs. The mainspring's primary function is to make the hammer fall to slap the firing pin. That being said, most of us shooting 1911 style guns will play with different mainspring weights to tune the way the slide opens. A heavier mainspring will retard the slide's opening, and increase muzzle flip. A lighter will increase slide speed. A lot of guys also like to angle the base of the firing pin stop to adjust the way the slide interacts with the hammer upon opening. There's no "better" or "worse," it's all individual taste. JMHO.
  9. I can't wait to see Blake do his shooting without looking trick that they showed on the preview.
  10. My dad is 48 but he's old school. He's a strong advocate of the "beat the hell out of your kid" discipline technique. I am only 21 but I can relate to a few of these stories. Not too many, though, because his technique worked. After the first few major screw ups, I didn't do them again. Maybe parents should just hit their kids every once in a while. I know I thank my parents frequently for doing it to me. When I was 17 I was trying to install a new set of speakers in my car. I ran out of wire crimps and needed to go to the hardware store to get more. Since my car was in pieces in the garage, I needed to borrow my dad's truck. He was out of town on a business trip and was using his work truck. He said I could use his personal truck, "as long as you don't scratch it or I'll kill you" (he said that last part jokingly, but with a hint of "Seriously I'll kill you") My dad's truck is parked in front of the garage door where he kept his boat, the truck facing the street. So I go inside and grab his spare set of keys and get in. I start to pull forward when I hear the most awful grinding sound I've ever heard in my life. I slam on the brakes, having only traveled about ten feet. I start shaking as I look in the rear view mirror. I get out of the truck and nearly pass out (seriously) from the sight in front of me. The garage door has been completely ripped off the house. Along with it is my dad's bass boat (tied for second with his children on things he loves). My phone rings. It's my dad. He says, "oh by the way make sure you unhook the boat first." My dad fishes about four days a week in the summer. To expedite his frequent trips, he got to where he would just back his boat into the garage and lower the garage door to where it contacted the trailer hitch on the boat trailer. He would never actually unhook the boat. He would then just roll the door up and take off whenever he wanted to go fishing. I didn't know this.
  11. She is, and if you are going to be at the match this Sunday, I would appreciate a chance for her to try your M&P. Robbie is loaning her a 34 and hopefully Danny will be there with his Springfield. She can try all three. Unfortunately I won't be able to make this one. If Robbie or Danny's guns don't quite suit her, just let me know and we'll find a way I can let her run a few magazines through it to see what she thinks.
  12. She's welcome to try my M&P. Is this the same daughter I met at the Classic?
  13. The thing that caught my attention was making your reloads too low. Try bringing the gun a little bit higher so you can "look" the magazine in. Also, what hatcam were you using? The video quality is great.
  14. Everyone, thanks for the replies (even Merlin as I can appreciate the sarcasm). Chuck, my backup gun would be my M&P40 I upgraded from, but then I'd have to carry extra ammo because they won't accept the long ammo I use for my STI. I plan to get another STI as a backup, but that's down the road. I'm starving myself as it is in order to send off that last check for my new limited gun. I'm going to take cslafrain's suggestions. I wouldn't have thought that a mag catch would go.
  15. Bob Londrigan had an article in an issue of Front Sight a couple issues ago with the life expectancy of parts in an STI/SV. Since I'm trying to get an emergency repair kit together, can anyone give me a rough idea of what extra parts I need to keep on hand? I apologize if this has been mentioned before, but I tried a search and came up with nothing.
  16. Did anyone ever answer as to whether or not the sideways C-more mount affected balance to the left/right?
  17. Bobby Keigans is good people.
  18. Taking a class this fall. Hopefully with the both of them.
  19. Can someone explain the difference between feather and merkur blades? And what is the benefit to using a safety razor/straight razor vs the more common gilette/schick razors?
  20. When you're a broke college student that has figured out how to cook Ramen Noodles 57 different ways, just so you could afford your new 6" limited gun. When you lied to your significant other about how much said limited gun costs. When you lied to your significant other about how much you make so they don't know where all your money is going. When your food budget is $7 a week, but your bullet budget is....... you know what? I don't wanna know. Ignorance is bliss. When you've met some of the best/friendliest people on the planet at matches.
  21. Definitely try out the Rydon II's. It's the exact same frame as the Rydon's, just with the lenses cut smaller. I have a small head/face and the Rydon II's are great. Don't forget to use the coupon code 2ALPHA to get 40% off and help out our Rudy sponsored shooters.
  22. +1 for V for Vendetta- The line "you'll all be dead before you've reloaded" gets me every time. The Hangover- The scene with Mike Tyson 300- When the Persians make the first charge, there's a point where everything gets dead silent before the Spartans push them back.
