  1. Hey...it will be on my birthday...that means I'm supposed to win something....right?
  2. I am REALLY glad you finally got your safety check out of the way and can now start shooting USPSA matches....just in time for the shooting season to end! So one comment regarding stage 1. I watched a lot of right handers go left instead of right on the back of the T (in fact I nearly considered it myself...it just felt more natural to go that way) but I also saw a lot of muzzles right on the 180 (and perhaps over....ok...OVER). There was no advantage going left vs right. Going right and doing the reload insured that the muzzle was pointed down range (for a right handed shooter). Its a minor thing but screwing up could become a MAJOR thing. Just something to consider for future matches.....overall (considering it was your first IPSC match)...you looked good! So did you enjoy your "freedom" of shooting in the open and dumping mags whereever you wanted?
  3. I had talked with Tom weeks before he went out of business...he told me he was about 90% certain that after he processed his last batch of lead...that he was going to pull the plug. He listed off a number of reasons as to why he wanted to get out of it....dealing with the USPS was a main reason (the "flat rate shipping" thing has become a major headache for the USPS and apparently they like to make everyone else suffer), raising cost and difficulty to acquire lead was another issue...and lastly the "health" problems of processing lead in general.

    Limiting Out

    That brings back good memories!
  5. I've talked with the owner (Tom) and he tells me that is his intention....to shut it down once he finishes processing his last batch of lead. After hearing that...I ordered 13,000 bullets from him.
  6. Chris...if you've got 100 or so rounds of factory 40 and want to run it through my Edge sometime...your more than welcome to give it a try. My Edge has never choked yet (on good ammo) but then I got it from Dawson Precision. You're definately shopping with the right guy with Dave.
  7. Well...I didn't want to say it earlier...but a couple weeks ago I talked with Tom and he told me he was about 90% certain that he was going to fold the business after he ran through his last batch of lead. He said that the increasing cost of lead and the daily hassles with USPS trying to ship bullets made it difficult to stay in business. I was hoping that he might change his mind but it sounds like he's really planning on shutting it down. So it seems that MB is now soon out of business and it seems that Bear Creek may have pulled the plug also; that leaves Precision as the only major moly/poly bullet source. Not good for competition!
  8. Consulting the rulebook...they appear to be legal. The previous statement about "steel guide rods" is missing from the revision: http://www.uspsa.org/rules/1911_Single_Sta...2006_Update.pdf See line item #21...the requirement is 43oz and they don't (for the most part) care how you get there.
  9. www.masterblasterbullets.com actually its masterblastersbullets.com I've delt with Tom for a number of years...great guy and great bullets. It's all I shoot. When I've gotten into a bind in the past and needed bullets NOW, Tom was always there....I'm lucky as I live about 50 miles from him and shoot the same local matches he does.
  10. I can relate to this. I was part of the staff for Area 1 this year and was CRO on one of the stages. Day 1 (staff match). I start getting sick. Day 2 (staff match). I'm so sick...I'm shaking like I drank 10 cups of coffee...can barely keep the gun on target. Day 3 (1st day of regular match). I'm now chasing shooters on the stage....and getting sicker. Day 4 (2nd day of regular match). Bronchitis starts to set in.....fellow RO's on stage threaten to take the timer away from me. Day 5 (last day of match). Fellow RO's succeed in getting the timer and relegate me to taping targets and not talking! Then it took 3 weeks to get over the crap I got. Getting sick while shooting sucks!
  11. Ok...stupid question time. I've got a STI Edge and assuming the site falls appart some day and I want to replace it with a Bomar....I presume I get a BMCS...and everything lines up as in literally drops in?
  12. I had John for my instructor for the CRO course. After hearing of all the stories of how tough John is....I actually found that John was great to have as an instructor...it was fun and I learned alot. Couldn't have asked for a better guy to do my CRO course with.
  13. I'm using one of these too and really like it. Got it from a place called cases4less.com; very good service and low prices.
  14. I'm heading to Sweden for 3 weeks and am wondering if its OK to carry my CRKT clip knife? If I can...does it have to be buried in my pocket or can I carry it clipped to my pocket? I can't find any knife laws on the net as they pertain to Sweden.
  15. As much as I dislike the El-Prez as a classifier...I'd take it all day long over this POS. I shot this one (thanks to Matt) yesterday and I think I spent 1/3 of my time just trying to get into position (at 6'1" its a little challenge) but the real trick of the day was watching the 7'0" shooter in our squad try and get under the bar. I didn't think it was possible..but he did it.
  16. Mike...the idea behind the grinding is to remove part of the bottom of the die so the carbide sizer can size further down the case. All I did was take the die perpendicular to a belt sander and take a bit off the bottom...but don't go too far....thats it.
  17. In my case...I looked at Eric's picture and then took mine to the beltsander until mine looked like Eric's. I think it took about 5 seconds total time on the sander....then a few minutes on a wire wheel brush...and a bunch of minutes on the buffing wheel.
  18. TDean is a Master...I was there when he did it in CDP.... made it look like a walk in the park. Matt's a Master.... Emanuel is a BasT@r0
  19. Glad everyone had fun...weather turned out to be great. Matt, Bill and myself were running Stage 9. As an added feature we had the Bond soundtrack playing in the background all day Saturday (didn't have power available Friday) and quite a few shooters enjoyed that. We elected to not have it going on Sunday....because Matt didn't want to hear Madonna sing anymore and I didn't want to hear the theme to Moonraker again. See you all at Tri-County next year!
  20. I've taken "flying below the radar" to a whole new level!
  21. and me! I modified my die after reading Eric's post. While I haven't loaded near the number that Eric has (I'm trying to catch up as fast as I can)....I also haven't had a single problem with it.....I also haven't had a single case not feed because it wasn't sized properly.
  22. Ah yes...seems like yester....uh year! For years (I think thats an accurate statement) I encouraged Sharyn to take up IPSC shooting...but she insisted to keep shooting some other 4 letter shooting game...then one day...she ... uh....saw the light and hasn't looked back since it seems.
  23. There's another way....and its free if you are using Dillon dies. Real all about it here! http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...&hl=carbide EricW came up with this idea and it works. I sometimes get 40 brass that has been Glocked...I've modified my Dillon sizing die per EricW's instructions...never had a problem...and I don't have to use case lube.
  24. I shot for a couple years with both arms locked out....and then developed joint problem in both elbows, my right wrist and right shoulder. After going through rehab...I developed the "bent elbows" position and haven't had any joint problems since. Something to consider....
