  1. One thing I should have added regarding my "method" is to check a few shooters to verify you've calculated the correct hit factor. Sometimes, a shooter will reshoot the classifier and only THAT run will show up on the USPSA website (note, the USPSA changed things recently and now list ALL runs for a classifier). If you don't check at least 2 shooters, its possible you can end up with the wrong HHF for a stage. Philadelphia Gunman -- C class in any division ranges between 40% and 60%
  2. Yeah, I shot a stage on Sunday that had 12 rounds fired from one position (through a port). In the end it really didn't matter because everyone shooting Limited 10 (or production) is going to have to reload at some point anyways......and were ALL going to have to do it.
  3. Quote: from actionshooter on 5:00 pm on April 23, 2002 How did you get the 8.0 hit factor? I recently shot this one and haven't been able to find anything on it. Steve To get the hit factor for any stage.... 1) go to google.com and enter cm99-xx (where xx is the classifier number. 2) go to one of the links that has "match results" for that classifier 3) Note the shooters USPSA number and their hitfactor for that stage. 4) go to the USPSA website and put that shooters USPSA number in and look up their percentage for that classifier.... I'll let you complete the math.
  4. Quote: from Erik Warren on 12:30 pm on April 23, 2002 >8.6 seconds to fire 21 .41 splits, plenty of time for a GM. Maybe not for that 15 yard target. I was looking at it, figuring a 1.5 draw, .5 splits/indexes, and 1.5 reloads, which comes to 11 seconds. So a 13 seems very doable. Classifiers are sometimes very humbling. I personally have a Limited 53% on this one from a couple years ago, right before I got an M card. Well unless I'm missing something in your math... draw 1.5 seconds 21 rounds at .5s/splits = 10.5 3 reloads @ 1.5s = 4.5 total = 16.5sec
  5. Ok..I'm beginning to think the numbers on this classifier are flawed. I shot this classifier over the weekend and am trying to move from a high C to B in Limited 10. I did it in 27.15 sec @ 95 points and no misses (HF = 3.5). Previous to my run, two local GM in Limited ran the same at 20.32 @ 100pts (HF = 4.92) and 24.55 @ 100 pts (HF = 4.07). So I'm figuring "Hey, these guys are GM's in Limited...I'm a C in Limited 10...I'm pretty close so I'll probably have the 55 pts I needed to make B in Limited 10. Get home and run the numbers....now unless my calculation of the HHF for CM99-37 is wrong, I came up with 8.00 in Limited 10 which means my run was at 43% and the GM's were at 61% and 50% To make matters more intersting, I looked around the USPSA Top 20 for shooters who've shot this before...the best I could find was 72% for a GM in Limited. I would guess the HHF for Limited and Limited 10 are about the same on this one. Now if you reverse engineer this stage an 8.00 HF and 105 pts makes 13.1sec.. figure 1.5 sec for a draw and 3 mag reloads at 1s/per (which is probably a bit fast) which gives 8.6 seconds to fire 21 rounds into some pretty tight targets. I'd like to see the guy who did that! Is this one of those "can't win" classifiers or one that everone but me stacks the rounds on and hopes no one notices?
  6. Quote: from TDean on 3:07 pm on April 18, 2002 You're imagining correctly Steven Can you blame me though? Every time I watch Yong, T.Stidham or Derrell shoot I learn something new. See ya there! Yeah...I figured as much. Should be fun....and a welcome break from Spring Quarter at school. I'm going to try and shoot Marysville Sunday and if all goes well...I'll be Unofficially B Class in Limited 10 by Monday.
  7. Quote: from TDean on 8:37 pm on April 17, 2002 Should be a great match. The Marysville club hosted 2001 Area 1 Championships. Hey Tom...Rick and I are already signed up....if you haven't squadded yet, put us down.....or I would imagine you're going to squad up with the SuperSquad?
  8. Yeah! I think this would be cool to have Team Ancient shirts to wear at matches. Count me in!
  9. Shot this one last weekend.... Limited-10 53pts in 8.77s reloading between boxes obviously. I generally had a crappy match and came into this stage as the last one of the day. I was in the start box thinking "go fast" then thought "just relax and shoot". Nearly overcharged the second box and felt my right foot start sliding as I came up, I started shooting and for the first time during the day became "aware" of my shooting...I could feel the trigger and time felt like it slowed down. Right now I'm a high C in Limited 10 and trying to make B.
  10. Quote: from Ron Ankeny on 7:17 pm on Feb. 4, 2002 TDean: So, is that 20% indicative of your known ability? Sorry, had to ask, lol. I've seen Tom shoot....multiply that 20% by about 4 and you'd be close to "Tom's known ability".
  11. Yeah, I would agree. It's a good tape and brings up a bunch of points that are often overlooked........assuming one can get over Lenny's hair! (Edited by Steven Zopfi at 7:57 pm on Jan. 31, 2002)
  12. Quote: from TDean on 9:53 am on Jan. 10, 2002 Check out Alaska Air Medford is still a gooood drive from Portland, what 4hrs? There are some small airports in the Medford area that Alaska services. See you there! (Edited by TDean at 6:40 pm on Jan. 10, 2002) I think a better choice would be Horizon Air (which is Alaska Air's Commuter partner). They fly directly to Medford. You can check out info on their website and if I recall correctly they have their ENTIRE flight schedule available in .pdf format
  13. Well just a short follow up on where I'm at on this. Went to my primary doctor on Tuesday. He was at a loss as to why I didn't get any better. Refered me to physical therapy. Today was my first visit. Yes I've got tendonitis...I've also got scaring from attempting to "shoot through" the pain...Ok, it may not have all been shooting (softball, motorcycle riding, etc) but basically the cycle goes like this...damage tendon, body buids up scar tissue to heal...damage tendon again...more scar tissue...repeat about 20 times. So now what they have to do is to break down the scar tissue and then reheal the tendon's while stretching them (so the heal properly this time). They worked on my elbow/tendon's today and my arm's in some pain. Next week I've got 3 sessions where they're really going to rip into it. Sounds like I'll be out of commission until about February or March according to the therapist as far as "activities" go....the nice thing was the guy didn't freak out when I told him that I probably go this from shooting...infact he seemed somewhat interested in it. :-) So, if you've started to see the onset of tendonitis...get it looked at quick. If I had back in May when this started, I quite possibly may have been better off today.
  14. Quote: from Erik Warren on 2:15 pm on Dec. 10, 2001 Maybe you need to get even more specialized, with a sports medicine specialist. That was suggested by my sister when I saw her at Thanksgiving (she was diagnosed with the same thing....she doesn't shoot however....at least not that I know :-) and got the cortizone shot by her Dr. What kinda torqed me off is that my doctor didn't even bother x-raying or doing a MRI to take sure it wasn't anything else...he just said "Tennis Elbow wear this arm band and it should get better". I figured he knew what he was talking about.....it's not getting any better.
  15. Well just to check in on where I'm at on this....finally went to the Dr because the pain was getting worse. I was also diagnosed as having Tennis Elbow and was told there are three steps 1) Wear the arm band for 4-6 weeks and if that doesn't work 2) physical therapy where they "scrape the tendons" which apparently is really painful but is supposed to work well..but if that doesn't work 3) cortizone shot to the elbow (which he said they don't like to do). Well I've been wearing the arm band for 4 weeks now (not using my right arm for anything i.e. no shooting, no lifting ... he said not to try any exercises until the arm is healed) and ..... my arm hurts worse then it did 4 weeks ago. I'm in constant pain now rather then only when I did stuff. I'm going to see about getting a referal to an orthopedic doctor (someone who knows what their dealing with) and go from there.
  16. Quote: from TDean on 5:51 pm on Nov. 25, 2001 No Steve he doesn't. Wow, what a coincidence then .... (Edited by Steven Zopfi at 6:51 pm on Nov. 28, 2001)
  17. Quote: from TDean on 6:34 pm on Nov. 17, 2001 There's a Master class shooter in my area that engages in Production division activities with a magwell'dGlock! The brass magwell must weigh 1/2 lb..... (Edited by TDean at 6:36 pm on Nov. 17, 2001) The shooter in question wouldn't by chance have the same first name as you would he?
  18. I've noticed that ever since I started practicing more, I'm starting to develop joint pain in my right elbow and right wrist. There's a chance that his may be related to playing softball but I seem to recall it started happening right about the same time that I increased my shooting practice before AREA 1. Is there anything that one can do/take to elmininate joint pain (besides ibuprophen?). I'm guessing that the recoil is beginning to hammer the joints in my right arm. Strangely, I'm shooting isoceles and only the right side has pain and yes, I'm a right handed shooter.
