  1. That is because the SP-01 mags are 18rds officially, even if you can manage to cram in 19. The lowest witness hole should be labeled 18.
  2. If it was stolen from a Californian, ouch for the guy that got robbed. I read about a guy paying almost $2500 just to get one there.
  3. Poor gun.........gonna get destroyed because of those idiots.
  4. Interesting. On my chrome Tanfoglio slide stops there is a large circle easily visible on them (blued ones, a little less so) around where the base of the pin meets the part that stays outside of the gun. I always assumed this was just a casting flaw/mold marking. I had never considered it could be evidence of welding.
  5. With so many broken slide stops why hasn't any one in the aftermarket developed a replacement made from a shock resistant grade of steel? You'd think it would be fairly easy to do and it would be a popular upgrade.
  6. Wonder if they will make it standard on all the "elite" models eventually? I think it particularly makes sense for the large frame guns in .38/10mm/.45
  7. So, IFG spec'd these out a bit more than just mixing and matching it appears.
  8. Magazines often come new from the package with that reddish brown preservative gunk on them. I do like the others have already suggested snd disassemble and clean them when new.
  9. The Shadow 2 Orange bushing is different than the CZC Accu-bushing. The S2 Orange is a CZ-UB gun. I don't have a CGW to compare with but I own/have owned several S2Os and CZC guns with their newer bushing (the old one was threaded) and none have had any play and were fitted tight enough that even well lubed you need to use a tool to rotate it.
  10. My Berettas used to autoforward very easily. Some consider it a feature, others don't. After doing an overinsertion that locked up the gun I'd rather have a magazine that didn't want to cause an auto-forward.
  11. Yep, I love my CZs but will never buy one with a firing pin block.
  12. I can't imagine having to deal with that stupid roll pin just to remove the firing pin. Glad we can buy Shadow 1/2/TSOs instead.
  13. I ordered two 941s a month ago (I may have to cancel my order and get them some other time---still haven't shipped and I don't care what "virus" excuses they use that's too long for a supposedly in-stock item) because I was researching their similarities to Tanfoglio/CZ and it seemed that they may really be a "best of both worlds" option. The original hammer strut/spring setup Tanfolgio's firing pin block that falls down instead of being pressed up and retains the firing pin retention plate Compatibility with virtually all mags---Mec Gar 17/19 (CZ) or Mec-Gar 17 (SF Tanfoglio) Found a couple threads on here about them: I already have a PD SF extended firing pin, spring, Dawson Front sight (baby eagle) and Tanfoglio adjustable match rear sight (made by LPA) as well as some LOK grips. I figured I'd have the guns by now.

    Moving to CZ?

I have added a 12lb CZC hammer spring, extended firing pin, and reduced power firing pin spring in multiple Shadow 2s. The result is a 5.75 to 6.5lb DA and a 2.75 to 3lb SA and 100% reliabilty with any primer. Thats all the "tuning" a Shadow 2 "needs" IMO. You can polish and fit different parts and get even lighter with less pre-travel and a shorter reset if you want but man, talk about diminishing returns.
  15. The S2 Orange has the bushing, comp hammer, and short reset disconnector as well as hand fitting.
  16. The Stock Master and Limited Master are IFG, not EAA
  17. I'm also good with 6 to 6.5lb DA and want 100% reliability with even the hardest primers.
  18. Yep and if/when you come back after being shut down for months who is to say which employees are going to back with you right away and what amount of catching up to do you have from an extended shutdown? Even when full-time return to work there happens assuming there are no further shutdowns the effects will be felt for a year at least. Anyone who has run a business should be able to understand how disruptive that would have been.
  19. Couldn't agree more. Sure, there is some variation on the CZ guns too but after setting up about......7 Shadow 2s now with the CZC 12lb hammer spring, extended firing pin, and reduced firing pin spring and getting a 5.5-6lb DA and 2.75-3lb SA I can't see why anyone would fiddle with one any more beyond that. Also I've never had that combination fail to ignite even the hardest primers and have tested on Winchester M882 and IMI 158 grain, even though it was tedious I did all of the testing DA. To me that is the main drawback of the Tanfoglio---while they implemented a superior FPB (which is why the good CZ guns omit it) the change to the hammer spring was a mistake, IMO. Of course a Stock II or Stock III will still generally have a lower cost of entry but will still require more work to get a usable DA since they stack so badly compared to the CZs. I know there is a lot of back and forth between different fanboys but as I own both (and will soon have some Jerichos as well---can't wait to examine them as they seem like a nice blend of the two) and like both for different reasons so consider myself to be objective. The Tanfoglios are available in .38 Super and 10mm (yes, I know there are now 2-3k dollar CZC guns that appear to be using Tanfoglio mags but that isn't apples to apples) as well as hard chrome finishes on some models and some ergonomic differences many will enjoy. I've seen people list parts availability as an issue with Tanfoglios but with Patriot Defense in the game along with Henning, BSPS, etc I don't really see it as an issue. Factory support though gets a CLEAR edge to CZ as well since EAA has a well earned reputation. Consistency from gun to gun also clearly favors CZs as you noted. As someone that limits what kind of DIY things I'll do what I appreciate about the CZs is how easy I can set them up myself---hammer spring, firing pin and spring, grips and done. All things I can and will do quickly and easily. Front sight changes though, no. With Tanfoglios I have no issue installing Dawsons up front due to the different retaining method but all the work it takes to get a nice DA pull is way beyond me so I have to outsource that to Patriot Defense. I'm very happy with all 4 guns they've done for me and will send them work in the future.
  20. I think a lot of people read online that the Shadow 2 has an "increased grip size" and kind of read too much into it. I don't have small hands but I can't see how someone that did would have issues with the Shadow 2. With slim grips on it you won't find a thinner doublestack out there to my knowledge. The Shadow 2 is a bit longer front to back than a Shadow 1 or standard SP-01 and that's it, side to side they are the same. For some people they definitely prefer one profile to the other but I can't see someone adapting well to one and not being able to do well with the other.
  21. I know since the frames are cast there is quite a bit of variation so a true "flush fit" would require custom fitting to each gun and be completely unnecessary. Out of curiosity I might get a set of feeler gages and check the gap with a few Mec-Gar 17s on both a Shadow 1 and Shadow 2 and then my new base pads just to see how "tight" these margins and "issues" are.
  22. I know this is an old thread but I recently came across this same issue. I guess I really shoved the magazine in hard because I locked up the slide release and actually thought I broke something for a second. So I came across this and bought 12 CZC basepads for some of my 17rd Mec Gars but what has surprised me the most is that these basepads have what to the eye is the same amount of gap from the bottom of the gun to the top of the base pad. My guess is that they are only taller by some almost unseeable amount, like .010 -.020" and that is enough to correct the issue. I was thinking they would seat closer to flush.
  23. More like a brown color, like the pictures of it I've seen online. I have the standard 1 piece sear that came in my other Limited Custom and a Stock III with an Xtreme sear as well as some discarded two piece in my spare parts bin. It just looks like a 1pc/xtreme with the colored coating. I also noticed the serial numbers changed from the MT prefix. Looks like they started over some time in 2019 at EAA00000. They are triple serializing them like every other European pistol I've owned or own as well, marking the barrels and slides now.
  24. I didn't think the black/black model was ever coming back.
