  1. As far as the sales tax goes there was a supreme court ruling recently that said states can charge sales tax on vendors in other states. Now, there is a certain sales dollar amount threshold that makes it possible but many are just charging it no matter what either just because they can, or they are genuinely scared. I still shop things around and make sure before I pull the trigger on any large buy they aren't one of the ones charging but I have moved too quickly twice now and inadvertently paid sales tax when I didn't have to. Anyway, yeah that is how I understand IFG's deal to work as well. That's why they've got the LimPro and a few models that are new or EAA has never imported them at least and they are committed to bringing in ALL versions/calibers, unlike EAA that is large-frame only. I wonder if they could go so far as to import small-frame models that EAA only brings in as large-frames, but I'd guess not since they haven't yet.
  2. Unfortunately the hole in the Xtreme shock buffers is too small to work with Henning guide rods.
  3. I've only ordered direct from the a few times and only when it showed in stock. I try to get as much as I can from PD or Ben Stoeger even though they are in TX and I have to pay sales tax. The Limited Custom basepad situation is absurd, they charge a lot for the parts too. I just took both of mine off and run standard grips and mags. Some day I might sell the mags they came with since they are often so hard to find. EAA must be doing well unfortunately if Tangoglio is happy with this business arrangement. I wonder how big IFG will get.
  4. The SNs just rolled over, the MT prefix is gone and looks like they started at EAA00000. I just got one in the 1100 range, marked 2019. They are also triple serial numbered now like all other European handguns I've seen
  5. Thanks, guess I'll not do anything. I noticed the sear appears to be the Unica sear, the trigger pull is much nicer than other my other Limited Custom was out of the box.
  6. It is pretty clean. This is my 8th tanfo and the first time I've seen this. I'm sure it is only possible on Stock 2, Limited, etc. Guns with the bull barrel which this is my 4th. The whole inner area of the slide is pretty rough looking. It is smooth to the touch except for some sharp edges but under light there is lots of visible hand tool use. The barrel is easily movable on the muzzle end at lock up which is also a first.
  7. I just picked up a new Limited and brought it home, disassembled, cleaned it up, and inspected it. I noticed that where the little divit is for the front sight's set screw broke through into the slide. Has anyone seen this before? I wonder if it can "grow", open up, start forming a crack, or otherwise cause an issue down the road. With EAA's legendary customer service I'm hoping it isn't an issue.
  8. Another reason I love compressed loads with slow powders.
  9. Has anyone ever experienced rimlock with a Tanfolgio in .38 Super? I haven't yet, nor have I started loading my own yet but I'm kind of torn on sticking with what's working or buying SC brass.
  10. Is it true that besides the reduced rim diameter that the SC brass is also much thicker towards the rear of the case? I'm going to get set up for loading .38 Super soon and am still torn on which way to go brass wise. I don't currently have function issues so don't NEED SC as far as I know but it seems that so many people say that eventually they experience rim lock and then move on to SC brass. My issue with the SC brass though (besides POSSIBLY needing to adjust extractors, which I don't want to do but I understand most guns extract both) is I have heard that the thicker web can limit you to shorter and lighter bullets because heavies will bulge out the case where it is thick. I'm only really interested in loading 158s and 180s so if those will bulge SC brass that will rule that out. I'd just hate to pull the trigger on a few thousand pieces of new brass and then change gears when I run into an issue.
  11. I'm looking for a powder that I don't believe has ever been imported into the US on any commercial level, Rottweil P806. I didn't know if maybe there were some independent importers like there are with guns. Norma R123 as well. I've used a lot of Norma powders over the years and Powder Valley contains several, but never R123 from what I've seen.
  12. This is a great thread, there seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there on the Jerichos and what it is more compatible with. It seems to have some "best of both worlds" attributes between CZ and Tanfolgios. I know there is a lot of "my clone is better" and "real CZs are better" out there, but I'm the rare guy that loves both CZ and Tanfoglios and the Jericho seems to be a nice blend of the two. I suspect that the guns in the now removed videos were not actually Jerichos though, but the Turkish guns that look like them and those are made by Tanfoglio still. I've seen tours of the IMI/IWI facility in Israel where they were definitely making them at the time. Considering the fact that some later models after they took over making them in house would show up with more Tanfoglio like features I assume they still have some sort of working relationship though. It appears the polymer Jerichos use the Tanfoglio hammer spring and strut arrangement and I'd bet they licensed something from Tanfoglio on those.
  13. Yeah, the factory mags ARE Mec-Gars unless the gun is so old it pre-dates that change to them. The change to Mec-Gars was made due to some issues with the old mags so it could be possible that is what he has if it gave him trouble. It depends on the vintage of his used gun.....if I remember correctly the switch to Mec-Gar was more than 10 years ago now.
  14. The bluing on that Xtreme looks REALLY nice too compared to any other blued Tanfoglio I've seen. Yeah, no interest in their laws but how much better would it be if they (Tanfoglio) just had a stateside operation instead of a partnership with an importer? We'd have access to the whole catalog.
  15. Check out the Stock III in this video that they export to Canada:
  16. I had read that before too, that it was more like a surface treatment than a coating. If so, that is pretty unique as any nitrocarburized finish I've seen is black.
  17. Maybe, I don't know what all is available overseas. I just said EAA is only importing lower end models with the wonder finish. Maybe that is all that is available, it is hard to tell stateside. Is Wonder Finish for sure nickel-plating? It sure looks like electroless nickel to me but I've never seen anything firm on that.
  18. I always "wondered" about the Wonder Finish as well. I see the same mixed reports---some saying it is durable as hell, others saying it sucks. Then for whatever reason the only ones imported here are on the lower-end models.
  19. I still want to see a hard chrome Stock III. The bluing on them is kind of thin, if one of mine ever gets looking really ugly I might send it into CCR or Ford's or whoever does the best work for the HC treatment.
  20. Dan Wesson is in Norwich and they stated on another forum that they were getting very little from CZ for these guns and were mostly made in-house. So yes, the governor of NY shutting them down had to have affected them. Maybe it would have been a few months delayed anyway. At this point we will never know. However, a mandatory closure of your only facility for a few months is certainly going to hinder operations to a large extent for some time yet.
  21. New York shut everything down
  22. I thought they completely closed down?
  23. Since it comes with the competition hammer it should be even a bit better than a standard S2 in SA.
