That link has pictures of both the carry grip and full size grip and both are avail. Just make sure you click the right product, it has "full" in the description... I ordered and received one of each. As well as the full weighted/magwell version for about $85.... experimenting and playing around.

Is that grip built up, or reduced in places?
-
If you order one without the weight and magwell its even cheaper. You could always transfer that's stuff later. $65 https://www.opticsplanet.com/sig-sauer-grip-module-for-p320-x-series-9-40-357-full-size.html?_iv_code=SD9-G6-GROFU-GRIP-MODX-F-943-M-BLK

Seems to be a little bit clandestine. Or its a service someone is charging for, and is proprietary knowledge, which I'm cool with. But a pictorial and step by step on adding 10+ ounces to an X-Five would be awesome.

I think it would be hard to get over weight for Production with just basepads and a guide rod.... those other guys are doing all kinds of unnatural things to the insides of their frames with extra weights etc. above and beyond that.

Might want to read some of Jake's nearly 6K posts before you accuse him of not walking the walk. I agree it is a nice drill for basics and trigger control, but not particularly challenging a par time to a M or GM shooter. Or maybe a A or B shooter, on point.

Welcome! Have shot in Fredericksburg a few times... hope to do more this year. See you around!

New shooter - Should I do a major match?
sfinney replied to UpYoursPal's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
Have fun. Observe the better shooters in action. Do not try to duplicate - shoot your own pace. Listen to the R.O.s. Have fun. Soak in the environment, atmosphere. Visit the vendors. Have fun. I wasn’t really hooked til my first major. -
So you are getting a firm return to battery with a 10# even with the tighter fit of the X5 barrel?

Looking for info on Dawson fast-six STI Eagle
sfinney replied to Gomar83's topic in 1911-style Pistols
I had one of those. I think he was selling those for about $2K. It was basically a Dawson tuned stock 6" Eagle with the milled ball end cuts. It was an easy entry into the 6" world. -
Those will work just fine

If you ordered from Springer it would already be in the mail. Springfield Armory is top notch, and I have had great customer service from them.... I'm sure they will take great care of you. And, as you said, for free.

Guns that make weight for IDPA SSP or ESP or "The search for bigfoot"
sfinney replied to keonard's topic in IDPA Shooting
The Arex looks like a cool gun.... guess it works for IDPA by fitting box. FWIW I don't see the Arex models listed on the USPSA Production Handgun list? Anyone heard if it is in process? -
I vote for Springer. Top quality stuff. Less down time. Who knows how long SA would take to warranty?

Take your PPQ you have and go shoot Production, or better yet Limited minor*, and have fun. You'll figure out real quick if you need better holsters/mag pouches etc.and get a better idea of what holsters and gear all the cool kids are using. 4 or 5 mags, a stiff belt, belt holster (recommend something kydex OWB) and a couple double mag holders or 4 or 5 single mag holders. Many of the inexpensive kydex ones work great, not required you get a "race holster" or top of the line fully adjustable mag pouches.... Then start building up your Q5 kit on the side, get it ready, and transition to it when able. Assuming you still want to stock with the Q5 plan. *Limited minor is a good place to start as 1) you don't have to stage plan as much 2) get to shoot your mags to capacity, less reloads 3) likely won't be competitive anyway first few matches - so have fun and enjoy shooting as you figure things out.
-
In IDPA, for CO as long as it fits in the box. Right? In USPSA magwells are prohibited in CO.
-
Ok, point made. ? Mind sharing the specifics of how you heavied up your X5 using internal parts? It may be in the last 50 pages of forum thread, but I searched through and did not see it. Thanks!
-
Look I know some people say they get unreal large amounts of round count from their barrel. Its possible. 30K rounds over "years" of shooting is not a bad barrel in my opinion. Its a "wear" part. I have had a well used STI that probably had over 100K rounds though it, but at least 2 or 3 barrels.

Obviously all of these weights are minus the steel magwell. So what parts are going in to add the difference in weight between these different guns? A tungsten guide rod is only so much....
-
Wow, thats light. I assume the stock rod and spring maybe add a couple ounces... still 27 ounces is light. I also assume the grip weight is in the frame? Huh.
-
Hey, he just said he liked shooting red dots. And CO use big mags too, less stage planning. Limited with a dot. I thought we were just having fun. But if his goal is overall match wins agreed, yes he should invest one of his kidneys in a real open gun and learn to use it. and keep on with PCC.
-
Ok, good to know. I'm just now setting up my X - I'll be sure to weight as I finish it up.
-
Ah, now I get your point. ? Thanks for clarifying. Little dense sometimes. So a stock X-Five weighs 27.5 ounces? (43.5 - 16) Official weight on the Sig site says 35.6 ounces. (I do have an X-Five, just never weighed it... its a little heavier in the nose than my P320 full size, by feel, but haven't weighed it either). Not arguing just trying to understand the discussion... ?
