  1. Yes, its not a "Seattle Slug" anymore.... its a piece of brass. It no longer sticks down past the bottom of the grip profile. Just a grip plug.
  2. I took a brass Seattle Slug Plug and ground it down to flush fitting grip plug length, and cerakoted black. Added about 2.5 to 3 ounces I think?
  3. Learn to accept what is an acceptable sight picture for each shot attempted, and let that drive your "shooting" pace" (trigger time, splits). That pace may improve as you work on "seeing". Then do everything else as fast as safely possible (movement, transitions, setting up in a shooting position, opening doors, etc.
  4. I think we have all seen a shooter shooting on the edge or out of control trying to hang with the speed of a M or GM in their squad. Trying to hard. Instead of just executing. Sure, some of the DQs we see come from that... someone who's running on the ragged edge of control. Should they do it? No. Absolutely not. They should put in the hours of practice, shoot safely, and at their level of capability. Not try to make up years of practice in 15 seconds. No one is advocating people shoot unsafely to advance (at least I hope not)…. but we have all witnessed the behavior.
  5. Yes we can argue semantics. Or we can accept the moral of the fable is intended as don't be complacent, yes, it can happen to you. Maybe the use of will is overstating it. There are many people who go their whole shooting careers without a DQ or similar infraction. No argument. Good on 'em. But I've also seen top level GM guys at Majors go down for the all the usual reasons.
  6. recoil of the sg is handled between plates, so really as fast as you can sweep the plates?
  7. Sometimes taking a break ( 1week, 1 month, 1 year) can help you find the "fun" again. Obsessive compulsive dry firing and drills can really take a toll, and become work.... its a game, have fun.
  8. Its not that every shooter will.... so much as every shooter COULD. No matter your experience.... some times sh#t just happens. No one is immune from the possibility.
  9. I have a basically stock Tikka T3x Tac in a KRG Bravo Chassis. Fantastic rifle.
  10. Had to change the front sight in my X5 too. Way to high of a sight. Lock up on mine the last 1/8" inch is very tight. Mine hesitates or stops going in battery with 10 or 11 pound springs. 12 pound in my gun is minimum. Most smiths seem to be recommending a 14 pound spring.... but many do run on lighter ones. YRMV. If its off at Sig getting the upgrade now. Hope to be playing with it again soon. The gun. Geez.
  11. Elite rocks - and if you get a membership it’s a pretty good value if you’re shoot more than 2 or 3 times per month. One of the nicest facilities.
  12. I have used ISMI springs in all my Glocks (and 1911s and Sigs) with great results.
  13. All aftermarket triggers now legal in Production, no matter how odd looking or material made from.
  14. Happens... now hopefully you will never forget to wait for the command. Learn, move on, have fun.
  15. On a stainless barrel use a 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar - maybe 15 minutes at a time - submerge whole barrel and let sit. Then Run a brush - might have built up moly. Hard to get out otherwise.
  16. Well, obviously a custom #.... from a championship prize table maybe? What matches had these initials in 1996? Maybe for 2nd place?
  17. Most short dustcover 1911s/2011s with rail will fit just fine in a full dustcover with rail holster.
  18. Quit worrying about trying for faster follow up shots.... start letting your mind seeing an acceptable sight picture for EACH shot dictate your pace that you pull the trigger. Through practice this pace will gradually speed up... as you get used to seeing better. But just hitting a fast split (on well tuned gun that doesn't really bounce much), is a lot different than breaking that second shot as you see a sight picture that ensures the shot you are trying to make. Its not speed, its efficient vision.

    Shadow 2 LOK Grips

I like palm swells or even the stock rubber on my CZs but have med to large hands. Always have struggled with thin grip guns, need something wider for my left palm to lock into.
  20. Not to mention, for some people its tinkering with and fine tuning the guns, that's half the fun.
  21. $300 to $400 for a functionally decent non-junk O/U that's the right length/choked useful to your purpose is a decent deal. If you are doing clay or bird at all - I'd rather spend 800 or 900 on a used Browning or Beretta, but thats just me.
  22. Agreed. 1 Procedural... if it did not specify carrying it.
  23. When they made Open and Limited Divisions, it was to protect single stack .45s and Para framed hicaps non-comped non-scoped guns, and give them a place to play. Very quickly .45 was obsolete, and due to .40 min for major, hicap .40s ruled the Limited Division for capacity. They later made Production to give the 9mm guns a place to play without feeling penalized.... and level set the equipment war by making it 10 round limit. Now Carry optics is out, and many are fixing up their maxed out heavy $2K steel Production guns to run C.O., instead of an M&P or Glock. PCC is all about highly tuned $2K AR and MPX platform guns, in many cases not resembling anything like a 9mm duty or hunting carbine most would carry in their trunk or plink with. Guess my point is everything has been an equipment war since some guys started shooting hi-powers instead of 1911s... or added comps to their .45s. . Red Dots? Mind blown. So if they change the min caliber for Major, and make 9mm viable in Limited.... would it be that big a change in the scope of past changes, and divisions added? Sure, there would be a lot of 9mm Limited guns getting sold/built.... but we have proven for decades people will spend to have the next best thing, and do it over and over. Having said that, in full disclosure, my Limited gun is a 9mm
  24. Obviously there are many good great cop shooters who are LE, yourself included. My father in-law (retired Dallas Sheriff) is was a decent shooter. I think though the public expects LE to be better shooters than most are, or think they are. I shoot with an FBI agent neighbor, occasionally at the local range, but have been unsuccessful in getting him to a match.... he is safe, and can surely pass a qualification. But not anywhere near a good C, or B shooter for shooting points or calling shots. Just because cops carry guns everyday does not mean they can (or like to) shoot. Or have a knack for it. Some decide to get better after their first few matches and come back motivated, and some just go away (intimidated or embarrassed, or not interested)... in probably the same ratio as most new shooters.
