  1. 5' in 100 yards is negligible for sighting in purposes. Get your zero and rock on without worries! 5 degrees would be like 26' vertically, just for the record.
  2. I've shot in a few of these matches and my advise would be to scope up your gasser and go give it a shot. Go in with realistic expectations and get the feel as to whether you want to pursue it further. As others have made mention, ask if you will have to move with bolt back and mag out before you even sign up as that will be a frustrating experience to be sure. It's a much more common rule to allow semi autos to move with just the safety on, but nonetheless, some matches have the other rule. If your SA is as accurate as you say (1/2moa repeatable), then you'll be just fine and will just be fighting the deficiencies of the 308 caliber. See if you can maybe get some 155s ripping along fast enough to limit that caliber deficiency as long as it's one of the shorter matches like the Las Vegas one. Just my $0.02
  3. I find that it's easier for me to shoot more accurately at speed with my 2011. In other words, I have to practice less to be at the same level.
  4. This is a great point, and one worth repeating. I also agree with the point that we need more people putting on more matches rather than more people trying to organize things.
  5. Hand drill or better yet a drill press. I've done a bunch of messing around with gas ports using both methods.
  6. Definitely use H4350 if you can find it and the SMK will serve you well although I prefer to run 130s in that sized case.
  7. I run 12lb for major and 10lb or 12lb for minor when shooting 3gun, based upon whether I feel like changing it or not. This is a full weight Edge with bull barrel.
  8. I don't have near as much experience as others on here but here's my take on it. If you're on a tight budget, get the Miculek or Nordic Corvette. If you want to buy once and forget about it, get a Seekins ATC.
  9. FWIW, I am in favor of 30 round mags for rifle, 140mm for pistol, and 8+1 to start for shotgun with unlimited after the buzzer goes off. ETA: Open is open and everything goes there, my comments are for the other divisions.
  10. That was a Leupold VX6 Multigun Edition on my RBros/Seekins AR as seen here: http://swfa.com/Leupold-1-6x24-VX-6-Multigun-Riflescope-P57682.aspx It's been a great scope and the firedot SPR reticle works pretty well. It's a little thick for my liking, but the thickness makes it really easy to pick up....especially for newer shooters like my wifey. I got a lot of people saying I was crazy for letting it sit out in the dust, but that rifle has been in testing since the NWMG match last year and I was making sure it'd still run when things got a little dusty. I didn't clean it before or during the RO match and still haven't cleaned it. I purposely beat on it and treat it way worse than anyone should just to make sure our products will hold up to everyone else's "normal" use before we offer it to the public. If and when RBros decides to make a 3gun rifle, that's pretty much what it'll be as it's held up to everything I've put it through so far without so much as a hiccup. Thanks for letting us be a part of this year's NWMG Doug and Scott, you guys put on a great match. This year was great for me even though I didn't shoot all that well because I was able to spend the week with such a great group of friends and also got to be there with my wife as she shot her first 3 gun match. Then there was also the great squad that sang happy birthday to my 6yr old out on stage 9, THANK YOU:) Looking forward to next year already.
  11. Maybe try to trap the buttstock in your armpit a little more. Ironman is definitely a proving ground for your equipment and technique!
  12. Saying ouch is way better than saying "crap I'm out of primers"...
  13. I've always ran Tripp mags in all the Spartans that I've had and they work great.
  14. Last year's MGM Ironman had a stage that was to be shot weak side only. Some folks were gripping the pistol normally and just pulling the trigger with the support hand, but I decided to shoot the whole thing with hands completely reversed. I had some trouble, but still finished around 20th on that stage.
  15. I've used it with a lightened rifle buffer with no issues. It was a standard rifle buffer with weights removed to be the same weight as the JP one.
  16. I run 3.9g of Titegroup and a 124 MG cmj with an OAL in the range of 1.14 through my 5.25. Not sure if that helps you or not, but it sure shoots great in the two that I've shot it in. I haven't messed with the recoil spring at all, but I have put in a Powder River trigger.
  17. Nothing to add other than did you guys notice the last post in this thread was made over 7 years ago??
  18. I've been know to make people shoot a hostage paper target off of a backwards rooftop before.... You're right though, the long range stage at the NWMG would have been pretty fun with a bolt gun.
  19. I know a few guys that would be into that type of rifle match for sure. It'd at least give me an excuse to get a .223 bolt gun:) Really the greatest match of all though would be a rifle/carbine/pistol/shotgun team match with 4 man teams. Carbine and rifle shooters work together to clear longer targets and shotgun/pistol shooters work together to clear short range stuff.
  20. I'd say score it just like time plus, something like 2moa targets and lots of positional shooting. I'd say you could run a couple different divisions, but for the most part a MOR is going to have a scope so I'd just run maybe a light and a heavy class.
  21. A great ambassador to the shooting sports world, RIP Bob. We should probably all go out and burn a few rounds of .45 out of respect for the man.
  22. I really like my VX6 Multigun scope with the exception of the reticle. For my preference, it needs to have 1mil hashes and thinner stadia lines. The glass and dot illumination though are very good in my opinion.
