  1. I drilled my tunsten springco with a cobalt bit on my drill press, went thru with no problem, I always wondered it that was a good thing.
  2. I have to agree with L2S. givin the chose of slow deliberate shots or a short movement and hosing, hosing usually works better for me.
  3. love those caspians, bill I wear med. size gloves, and the hogue grips feel real thin to me, barely better than grip tape. navridex made grips that are contured and hand filling, but good luck finding any.

    Sp2

not to be a wiseazz, I solved it by changing powders.

    Hybrid Holes

I run a 4 port hybred, all ports straight up, with the 1st port kinda close to the c-more. don't really have a problem with the lens getting fogged up. and muzzle/comp blast is alot harder on the RO than it is on the shooter.
  6. benny, been there, done that, racker gone
  7. I have access to both, the Mk IV has all the cool features, crono, balistic calcalator, rpm, etc, and about all I use it for is the crono, although the rpm mode is a blast to see how fast you can yank a trigger. the club timer II is all I use for practice, its lighter, smaller, the display show the same info as the MK IV. I only wish the horn was louder.
  8. my club has 3 M422, the alumimun version of the 622. they have been shot alot and cleaned very little. lately after being abused for a number of years, they are showing sign of wearing out. they all have problems with extraction unless the ammo is fresh and the guns are clean. but basicly for the money you cann't go wrong. pros: decent trigger, sights, accuracy safety and slide stop are great for a right hander, suck for a left hander and like most smith autos, it has a mag safety cons: it has a mag safety, which makes it a pain to dry fire take down for cleaning is a pain, the first couple of dozen times you do it, you'll curse, after that you'll really hate it, (thats why I don't clean them often) and if you ever lose the take down tool that comes with, good luck. oh did mention cleaning it is an pain. if you dry fire them alot, you'll break firing pins although I do find it easier to take down and clean than a ruger mark II.
  9. I generally don't care for wilson parts or his standard mags, but I just ordered more of his 10 round .45 mags. I've tried other brands, never found any that were as good. never seen a tripp cobra mag, I got a hard time justifying spending that much money on a single stack mag.
  10. my super got the same barrel as yours, 9.6 gr of sp-2 is border line on major.
  11. yes thats normal. when I can't find my dot, I alway dip muzzle down a little to find it.

    Para Grip

I've got an old para, you know the ones that feel like a 2x2 in your hand. I took the stock grips and sanded them down as thin as I dared, and put skate board tape on, never had a problem with them coming off.
  13. I had a gun once that the accuracy went to hell quickly during a match. drove me nuts, checked everything I could think of and nothing helped, then I notice my sights (as in both the front and the rear) were loose . you might check that also.
  14. bill egw made 2 different base pads, the first only added length to the mag, the second in addition lengthening the mag added 1 round or if you modified the mag tube 2 rounds. caspian sold both blued mags and hard cromed ones, I've had good luck with the cromed ones, the blued mag required a bunch of work to get them to work. btw the 10 rounder caspian sells, SUCKS big time.
  15. guys, I read the above and now I'm really confused. I've got a fat free slide on a trophy match, I check the wolff website and they list long slide spring by numbers, not weights. what number wolff spring do you recommend? rufus, is the ismi spring for a 5 or 6 inch slide? also what power factor ammo are you shooting. thanks
  16. 3QT, I've had BrianH lighten the slide on my open gun, and I just picked up a 6" trophy match that benny hill did his magical ff lighting to. and tell you the truth Brian did beautiful work on the open gun, benny does some radical cuts to the ff slide, it look like something only a mother or a ipsc shooter could love. I instead of telling Brian what type of cuts you want, I would simply tell him how much you want your slide to weight, and let him work his magic. I kinda remember reading the article by bob logdron where he stated you shouldn't go under 11 or 12 oz. and your right you can't beat Brian's prices.
  17. "alway make sure your mags are loaded" also never put a partially loaded mag back in your pouch, you will find it during a stage. if there is a door on the stage, check if the door knob works and which way the door opens. if you have to use your weak hand to open or push anything, keep the muzzle up around eye level so you don't sweep your weak had with it.
  18. I've got both, the one factor I haven't seen mentions is the other advantage the wide bodies have is the shorter length of the mags. a typical 10 round para mag is about the same oal lenght of a 8 round ss mag with a base pad. the 10 round ss mag in addition to being skinnier it is also alot longer. and easier to fumble the re-load. Chucks re-load (which are smoking btw) were done with 8 rounders, just curious what the difference would be between 8 round and 10 round mags.
  19. ditto, LEAVE L-10 ALONE if you feel that you just gotta change something, combine the limited and L-10 classifications. over 95% of the classifiers are revolver neutral. (when was the last time you heard that term.) shooting them with a high cap guns is not an advantage. it make no sense to have 2 seperate classifications when to only difference is one of them holds less ammo.

  22. thanks Ironman, when you get around to loading the 9's, I'd appreciate an up date. I'm thing about getting a 1000 and give them a test drive.
  23. saw the ad in front site, priced right, but how good are they? has any one tried them Thanks
  24. sent my slide and comp to BrianH to have him flat top the comp to match the slide and to lighten the slide. well he took about 2 oz off the slide, contured the comp to match the slide and prep it all for bluing. the work is cosmeticlly perfect, he contacted me asking how I wanted it lighten, did the work in a week and it cost a grand total of 95 bucks, delivered. if you need machine work done on your guns, give him a call, I did and I am very pleased.
  25. www.swfa.com and go to their rifle scope page and click on hakko. they manufacture a bunch of different scopes for various companies that put their logo on them. they should hae the latest version of what your looking for.
