I received a call from a friend of mine the other day asking if I could come over and help him sort through a couple boxes of reloading stuff his Dad had given him . He really just wanted to see if he had enough stuff there to reload or just a bunch of garbage . First up was a brand new in the box Redding beam scale from the late 50's early 60's . The box was mint and it had sold for the princely sum of 14 dollars according to the price tag still affixed to one end of the box . It had the instructions , warranty card and everything still inside the box and the outside was just 50's-60's cool . Next up was an Ohaus 5-0-5 beam scale from probably the same era . It still had its original box , albeit a little worse for wear , and looked like it had seen very little use . I showed him how to set it up and zero the scale . Last up was a RCBS JR2 press which again had been stored in its original box with all its pieces and other than a little surface rust on the ram was in mint condition with a special bonus being a set of dies and shell plate for reloading .308 (a caliber my buddy owns 3 rifles in). I sat there looking at the simplicity of these items and remembering my journey as a firearms enthusiast . I shot my first season of USPSA loading ammo on pretty much the exact same press shooting a pistol that wouldn't get so much as a second glance at a match today out of an old Safariland pin gun holster I had cut down and added a piece of bent sheet metal to in order to keep my pistol from falling out of it . Fast forward to today where we need Dillon 1050's , digital scales that measure 6 decimal places out and handguns that cost more than our first car did matched to holsters and ammo carrying devices that rival anything seen in Star Wars and made from pure unobtanium . It was just kind of cool seeing someone excited about something as simple as a single stage press and a beam scale .

I am glad I am working overseas right now . It doesn't gain me anymore ammo but it gives me the opportunity to buy ammo and components I find at reasonable prices , get on waiting lists and not erode the one year buffer I spent several years after Obummers first election rebuilding . I have always purchased 3-6 months worth of components at a time since like everything else in life buying bulk saves you money . I don't know when its all gonna end but I am glad I am not at home wondering if I can afford to shoot up the last of my stash in a particular caliber .

My Oldest Daughter is a self driven , smart , witty and downright awesome kid . She competed at the State level DECA competition over the last 2 days and placed well enough in 2 different events that she earned a spot to Nationals and 750 dollars in scholarship money (Hey its one book I won't have to buy). Anyway , just wanted to brag about how awesome my kid is and how happy that makes me . Now to help her fund raise enough money to get to Nationals

I know a lot of the local guys who used to buy a couple months worth of components are attempting to purchase a year or two worth of stuff just to make sure they don't get caught without anything if things don't get better . Couple that with the fact that a lot of stuff is getting bought up by manufacturers so the overall amount thats available is less . I know that the pulled bullets and pulldown powders that were everywhere not that long ago are being bought up by the truckload by companies loading remanufactured ammo . The last thing killing us is obviously all the people running out and buying a new gun and 5-10 boxes of ammo for said firearm which is wiping out factory ammo supplies.

When I first started shooting Walt Bodie (CL106) was still pretty involved with our club . Whenever you were scoring his targets and there was a "Mike" he would argue that it was a double . He buffaloed a lot of the new guys because he had been around since Gods dog was a pup and would let you know it . Well one day we are shooting together and Rich Redovian was ROing our squad when sure enough Walt shoots one of his doubles . Rich is looking at the target 8 ways from Sundaynodding his head and telling Walt that he just might be right while surreptitiously pulling a layover out of his rear pocket . Rich puts it up the hole and says "Nope not a double" to which Walt just stares at the damn layover . Rich did that 2 or 3 times before Walt quit asking about it and the rest of us all started carrying a layover . I can't remember who said it later but it was in response to Walt's "Doubles" , he said "If your good enough to put them all in one hole , your good enough to spread them around so I can score them ."

Does anyone make a .22 upper and magazines that will work with a Para-Ordnance High capacity frame ?

Finding projectiles is whats killing me right now . I see guys selling bulk pack 55 grainers for 160 bucks a 1000 on different classifieds and can't bring myself to pay that price . Heck I can order Nosler Custom Competitions and SMK's at that price , that is of course if I can even find them .

I have to agree that License to Ill was their best album ever . I bought it originally on vinyl if that dates it at all My pard used the aircraft tail number on the license to ill cover as the serial number for his suppressor after the BATF office staff gave him grief over a serial number of "BACON".

Sold a Winchester model 94 30-30 that my Great Great Grandpa had handed down through the family . I was young and thought a 100 bucks was a lot of money . When my Dad found out he was pretty bummed and thought I was lying when I told him I didn't have the guys name or number anymore but unfortunately this was prior to cell phones and e-mails so I really didn't have the info .

Seriously , my Daughters are 12 and 15 so my days of the regular diaper changes are a ways behind me . Being the good samaritan I am I agreed to watch a friends kids for them while they went to a graduation but their youngest just left me one of them there Jeff Foxworthy type diapers . You know , when its says 24-30 pounds , that really is all they will hold I will save you all the graphic details and not post a picture but my oldest is pretty sure she is never gonna have kids now .

I just got a shipment of O-rings from Eric yesterday . He is still in business but as has been mentioned depending on whether he is home or not when you put your order in it can take a week or two for him to ship .
