  1. I tried a mix, didn't like it. Now walnut shells for case cleaning and the large corn cob media for a quick post loading polish. Cleans off the lube and leaves case and bullet very shiny Nu Finish Added)!!!
  2. The slide dropping when mag is inserted is fairly common with the M&P model. You will find a lot of interest and help with your experiment at the M&P website also. short slide / barrel length will only limit you against some of your competitors, it does not inhibit your own improvement with the gun at all.... http://mp-pistol.com/boards/index.php?
  3. +1 on the trigger job, very inexpensive (Burwell even has his on the web as DIY) a makes huge diff. Stippling the grips also fairly cheap and makes a good difference in grip on M&P. Are you using the larger capacity Speed Shooter Specialties Talor Freelance base pads on the mags?? Magwell??? I used these on my 9mm Pro model when I ran Limited minor.. HUGE difference... If they ever come out with the .40 in a long version I'll be back into an M&P for limited...... Good luck and keep us posted..
  4. Thanks Henning. If you can't shoot, look good..!!
  5. Titegroup not the optimum powder choice for lead. I'm sure others will chime in here with options, I prefer Clays under lead but have not shot lead in my PRO at all..
  6. My closest cousin is a Die Hard Pack fan, Packer colored man cave and all. Me, I'm a Vikes fan and we've feuded over the games my whole life.... Can't wait to get on him about this one!!!!!! I can see it now, Packers get booted from a playoff birth by the men in Purple....
  7. I've been looking for a screw that wouldn't corrode and the star pattern will look great with my grip work... I'll get an order in with a few other items I'll need....
  8. Graham, can you list your exact brass prep technique please. (Do you deprime before cleaning or tumbling, clean before tumbling, if so with what, Lube, etc) The reason I ask is I ran into a problem this past week trying to work up a new load using WST powder. I had worked up 100rnds of which I had several where I had to check for a squib because of the light recoil. None lodged in the barrel but many failed to come close to even cycling the slide and made it feel like a 22lr... At this point I suspect brass contamination for my problem which I won't elaberate on right now but I suspect an brass cleanliness/lube issue that became apparent when switching to this powder. I typically use TiteGroup which seems to burn consistantly no matter what I stick it in so I think the WST was highlighting issues I've had for a while. With help from everyone here we should be able to narrow this problem down with you. Any chance you can post a pic of the primer and inside of the case of one of the failed cartridges??
  9. I've only been reloading to 19 since 20 is very tight and the mags seat very hard. Oddly, I start with my stock nickel mag with the 140mm spring/follower and base pad upgrade and I easily get 21 in that.
  10. Have not had this issue with my mags. It appears that at some point in time the follower is twisting allowing a round to pass by it on the way up which is the lodged in the top coil. Since the follower has no "Legs" it can do this. I was just able to duplicate it on one of my mags with a few rounds loaded and striking the base pad sharply on my bench. Is it possible this happened when the mag was dropped with rounds in it during reload?? Just a guess on my part, and no idea why it would do it.
  11. Finally got a chance to run up 200 .40 S&W with Wolf SPP from Weidners recent shipment (Silver colored). All went bang but I did have several high primers in my mixed brass. I have always thought CCI's were difficult to seat on my 550B but these are worse.I use the roller handle so it takes a little bit more pressure to seat them well. The only REAL problem I did note was that during a pre inspection of the primers I noted several that were not round. These were marked before loading and when inspected post loading they were creased or wrinkled. They did go bang but the primer strike was a bit deep on these... I just picked up 2K CCI SPP just in case this 5K Wolf's don't work out.....
  12. Do I see 2 fingers in the trigger guard or just an unusual left handed grip?? Would probably be well worth getting that 2lb watch off the wrist also, or is that strategically placed weight to reduce recoil??? Cool pic!!!
  13. I know your not new to reloading as I myself am so this will probably seem to be a foolish question. When you are scaling your powder drops what do you do with the case afterword?? The reason I ask is because I caught myself once pulling the case off my 550 at the seating station pouring the powder onto the scale to do a quick check. ( I got in the habit of pouring the powder back into the case and placing back in the seating station and running it through) This time I place back in the station, placed a bullet and ran thru the rest of the process before realize what I had done. I know it is a dumb, simple thing to do and maybe not a concern at your level of experience, just a possibility noted.
  14. " I WILL find you and I WILL kill you "....... Gotta respect that king of determination.......
  15. If she were great looking, built and blonde everyone would be lined up to take on a date....
  16. This is disappointing. I researched the quality of Wolf primers before deciding to purchase them when Weidners had them available. All info I had found previous to this indicated these to be a quality product. It seems this American made primer shortage has us by the kahonas and we're being made to make other choices. It would really be nice if a spokesperson from Wolf would shed some light on the issues with the current changes noted to their SPP. I don't mind losing the money spent on the primers if the quality is not there but really not looking forward to loading up a bunch of questionable cartridges. Also a concern, longevity... If they won't light today, will they next year??? I will be able to test a couple hundred rounds this week but right now it's probably a good thing I was not able to make the Area 7 match this weekend.....
  17. I've used this service twice due to similar circumstances. There is a fee but I thought it was worth it. I xfered a couple thousand songs (My own and Itunes purchased) with minimal music loss. Sometimes you don't get all the bells and whistles on the free services that may be useful in the restoration process.
  18. Just got 5K Wolf SPP last week and they are the type you describe. Since these will be used in my Tanfo Limited .40 I guess I better run a few rounds up and try them out. Were you using the stock spring before??
  19. I am really starting to be confused as to what direction you are trying to lead us here. We still need to know what shooting discipline you are talking about. The requirments for Bullseye shooting can differ quite a bit from USPSA competition etc. I for one know that most any pistol I shoot is going to be more than accurate enough for my local USPSA shoots and any major shoots I would want to attend. What I'm saying is in the heat of the match, the gun is not what it is going to take to get me thru. There are just to many other factors I need to work on before the gun becomes what is holding me back. As far a loads go, I build what I feel is comfortable for me to shoot and keep within the Power factor rules. The MOST accurate load may not be what is most comfortable to shoot in a match. Obviously in bullseye the opposite may be true. I think we need to start over here and have you give us a better, more defined statement as to what you are looking for. If the members of this board can't answer your direct questions then nobody can... The knowledge is here.
  20. Hmm, M&P Pro Open Gun. Since the magwell and extended mag bases are already in place on mine I'll be making a list of what to purchase next when Dan has the comps ready!!! Other than Revolver Open is the only class I haven't tried since starting this sport last year so why not.
  21. Todd, not sure what part of Maine your in but if you ever run thru Vermont hit one of our matches, you will find a great group of people and plenty of Production guy's to shoot with..... http://www.gmpsvt.com/
