  1. Randy, that must be from last year... I have yet to see grass at any of our matches since December!!!!
  2. I think the above post covers it!!!
  3. Great discussion here guy's... I have to thank Glyn and Randy for taking the time at the match as well as here on the forum to discuss this ruling. Again, I must reiterate that the decision to NOT re-shoot WAS MY OWN!!! I questioned what had happened after the stage only because I spent some time while getting back on my feet wondering if I would be penalized for getting a shot off while my ear protection was dislodged. I was in no way looking for a re-shoot or trying to imply the RO's did not do their job, just the opposite. I think they both do a great job and bend over back wards to do by the rules. The reason why I would not have been comfortable doing a re-shoot was with the fall itself... I fell, recovered safely and continued the tricky stage considering myself lucky I had not DQ'ed... In the future, if I am in a similar position, I may hope that things go differently but at this point I'm in this sport for my own enjoyment and the great camaraderie this club presents and feel that the RO handled the situation with full regard to the RO's Creed. Rod.
  4. Hello all, I'll add to the discussion here. I was the shooter in question today for this topic. I will tell you that when I hit the snow and knew my pistol was still in hand and safe, the next thought I had was whether or not I would be stopped for the hearing protection!! Newb's tend to think of that kind of stuff tying up the side of the brain that should be used to get the stage back in order!!!! When the stage was completed I asked Glyn and another RO what was the correct thing to do just so I would know the next time it happened (Hopefully never again). In fairness, after discussing the ruling I WAS offered a re-shoot but declined using this as an opportunity to remind myself how NOT to run a stage!!!! At the local club level I will say it is great to have this type of camaraderie and so many people more than happy to work with you to ensure a safe, honest and professional match..... Oh and for the record, when the temps are cold and your wearing muffs, it is NOT a good idea to wear them over a slippery synthetic tuke!!!!
  5. Congrats Randy . Great guy to shoot with and a a lot of help to us new to the sport....
  6. Another tool to show me I'm slow!!!!
  7. What class do you plan to run in?? I would add a S&W M&P Pro to that list if you plan to run Production class as another Polymer option...
  8. I'm just getting into S.S. and have the same question. Have bought from a couple of people at Gun Broker.com but the pricess are getting high and quality of some worse.......
  9. You can fill the primer hole with High Temp Silicone which is Red in color. Gives the firing pin something to strike and is very noticable. Just takes quite a while to dry through.
  10. I ran into this also. Pulled the locater pins from the shell plate and wrapped masking tape around the head and trimmed off excess. It took about three wraps to get a thickness that I need to tighten the case in the slot. Becase the pin will rotate when the shell makes contact the tape holds up pretty well, just change as needed. Just don't go so far that the casing is too tight.
  11. I tumble with corn cod / walnut media mixed just because it's what I had. Usually around 1 1/2- 2hrs. I also do a quick 10min run after loading to get the One Shot lube off. My feeling is as long as the brass is clean and straight it doesn't need to be pretty!!!!
  12. I would guess you may want to get infrequent blood tests so that you know what your exposure is if your going to continue in these conditions. Better to be on the safe side..
  13. Yes it should be shut of and left off. We went thru this 10yrs ago in Vermont. What will happen is as power is restored there may be a lot of flututation in the power supplied to your house which will cause all kinds of problems with your electrical. It is best to just leave it off until the service is stable. Unfortunatly from what I've seen in the news this is going to be a while... Having been thru this once, I want to wish you the best of luck.........
  14. Yes, no problem. I have +- 1000rns thru mine this way......
  15. I have peg board behind mine so I use screw driver holders which work great, just leave the clip in and slide thru the hoop!!!!
  16. You had fun and you didn't get DQ'ed.... I'd say that was a good first match. Safety is #1, the rest comes with practice!!!! (Of which I need alot of).......
  17. With the temps below zero are you going to have her shoot for you this weekend too??????
  18. Thanks Julie for keeping up with this and thanks to S&W for making the PRO in the first place.

    NEW TOY

Worth more than the real thing!!!!
  20. I run an M&P9 and love it. As far as I'm concerned accuracy is on par with any Glock and you can taylor it to fit your hand. Have been running a M&P Pro in Limited until it is approved for Production class and it's looking like this will be the way to go. Shooting Limited Minor with the scoring penalties for anything but A hits has done more to help improve my accuracy than any mod would have!!! Oh, and both have run anything I put thru it without fail.....
  21. Julie, Thank you for taking the time to keep us posted here. Not all manufacturers have reps that stay in touch with the end users of their products. This is one of the reasons why S&W's customer service stands out as far as I'm concerned... Rod Fisher.
  22. I suppose the case could be made that if the holes were left in and allowed on your frame there should be no reason why I could not use grip tape or stippling in the same area which MAY give me an advantage (Obviously against the rules). Being a NEWB I probably would have just filled in with Black RTV flush to the form for good looks and not realized I had broken the rules. Kudos to you for having the integrity to question if you had an issue and bring it out for discussion. Although the replies may not pertain to your problem specifically the information/opinions given are useful and sometimes entertaining.
  23. Why does my Posts count not reflect the actual post I've made? Does this help keep the Newb's Newb's longer????
  24. I run a mag well so went with the Taylor's from Speed Shooter Specialties since they are milled for use with a magwell. I think they are a lot more robust than the Arredondo's. I Also run the ISMI springs because a set of 5 are cheap enough. Have had no issues so far. (3 matches) I squeeze 23 into the first mag and run 22 in the rest...
