  1. With such a great forum I'm sure the 2nd million will come alot faster... And Flex will still be saying "Use The Search Function".
  2. Just an update. Ran my match last week, 300rnds worth, and had only 1 FTF that was easily recovered from with a rack of the slide. At this point with Montana Gold 180 CMJ flat points looks like 1.190 -1.200 is going to work great. I'm going to be running Zero 180's FMJ's flat point next with more of an angled conture than the MTG's so I suspect they will feed even better at those lengths. Thanks all for the input, now love this gun!!! Still only running with the mags loaded to 19 to ease reloads but suspect when Henning gets my U-Die in stock and to me 20rnds will be no problem. With 64 competitors in that match I am alone in running a Tanfoglio so I had lot's of looks and questions. I'm not good enough to scare the S_I crowd yet but this gun (Check out my Grip Bling Post) had them looking. Yes, I am a convert....
  3. "I note the shell plate bolt #13794 tends to tighten with use. in other words I get it adjusted 'just right' with no slop or shake and after about 4 to 10 increments (1 to 2 1/2 revolutions) it tightens to the point of binding and I have to readjust. can you tell me what I am doing wrong?" There is a socket head set screw that stops the bolt from rotating when the shell plate is rotating. Are you tightening this after your adjustment is made?? It is located just below the shell plate on the left side of the ram. Just raise the ram and you will see it..
  4. With the checkering, I expect the points to wear a bit. What's nice is a little time spent with oven cleaner and a brush and I can start all over. Believe it or not, there is only 2hrs work here!!
  5. After seeing so many posts from the S_I guys with their custom painted lowers I thought I'd put my spin on some for the Tanfoglio Limited I recently purchased. I like the feel of the original Walnut grips, but the finish left a bit to be desired. A little thinned epoxy and some paint /clear have solved that problem!! (Hard to see in pics.. Black top, Deep Red then Bright Red. Accents are White & Bright Yellow) I expect to shave off all kinds of time just with the new look.. Let me know what you all think, worst case , Henning will be selling me a set of cold aluminum grips!!!!
  6. Make 'em have a shoot off, blindfolded of course....
  7. Thanks for the tip. Running a DOH right now but will switch soon. What magwell are you using on this Limited in pic's?? Is it a weld on??
  8. Mine were 10 days. In this environment I'd say that was better than average...
  9. This looks like a muzzle blast issue. Ran into this myself last week. 10ft should be enough distance but with those kinds of numbers it would be tough to believe, sounds like the cases/primers also indicate these readings are false. Just curious, did the chrono have the shades on it?? I was getting erratic readings due to having the shades on when they were not needed. Pulled them off and my readings were spot on... Course, I'm running the cheapest chrono I could find...
  10. Got my 5K from Wideners today. $26.40 per 1K isn't bad in this market and since my local shops have given up this was my best shot. Unlike some others at least Wideners had what they advertised at the price posted... Good enough for me!!!!
  11. This great reporter was able to report on all of the previously mentioned historical events without putting his opinion first... Try to find that now. RIP Walt....
  12. Well, based on what I've read here I decided to place an order with Precision Delta for .40 180FMJ for 2K. At the time there was no indication on their site of availability issues (still isn't). so on July 1st I placed the order. Later that week I had no reply indicating the order was accepted so I sent an email of which I recieved no reply. Last week made a phone call and was politly greeted and told that the order was processed and was in a pile waiting for the order to be filled. Because of the need for an upcoming match I requested a ship date and was told they should be able to fill the order and have to me by Tuesday. Well it is now Thursday and still no bullets. Another email I sent yesterday was answered today and the indication is that the jacketing machine is actually down and there is no way to fill the current orders at this time. I was told that it may be possible that I would recieve at months end (4weeks post order) and that there was a long line ahead of me. As a 1st time customer, not a positive experience!!! Now, I understand current market conditions and the whole supply vs demand thing but the manufacturers that can't fill orders in a timely manner , whether under their control or not, would really be able to help out their reputation if the customer is made aware of what their availabilty times are. I love a good deal on quality product as well as the next person but have and will continue to place my $$ where I'm treated the best even if it cost's me more. To all, please keep this in mind when you are looking for supplies. Order VERY early with suppliers you know and have good personal experience with and your reloading experience will go much smoother. RANT Off.....
  13. Just went thru the casefeeder issue myself. You don't say if you have a strong mount or not. With the strong mount you'll be about 44"-46" high (above bench). I ran out of room with mine in the basement and really don't want to go without the strong mount so the feeder will probably go.
  14. Ok, new to the .40 Limited game. 1st time out with Factory loads gun ran flawlesly with Henning 140mags. Went to the range today with my loads and had nose dive issues. I'm only running brass that has passed a gauge check and the mag set up look as Henning suggest. I think my issue is with OAL. After reading some posts it looks like I should move out to at least 1.190. Ran some up today and boy do they seem long!!! Barrel check passes ok though and they fit the mag well. Dry cycled a mag full trough and they appear to hit the ramp pretty clean. Am I on the right track here??? Can't hit the range again before my match this weekend so any input is appreciated. Rod.
  15. Thanks for the tip on Wideners... Never used Wolf before but I guess now is the time to try......
  16. Yup, what they said........... Oh, and welcome back... Hope you have plenty of primers..
  17. Love the drag pic's. When the guy in the lead has time to watch you in his mirror he may be leaving a little on the table...
  18. Is the Blade Tech DOH for the limited model USPSA legal?? I've tried several positions on my Double Alpha comp belt and I don't see how I can get it to within 2" of the inner belt surface. Has there been a rule change regarding this that I missed which would allow this holster??? I love the way it feels and would really like to use it as is....
  19. As far as the dies go here's what I would suggest: In automative restoration a tumbler is used to clean and polish small parts, fastners etc. all the time If you can get it at your auto supply or maybe even from a local body shop, I would suggest using Glass Bead abrasive. This will easily polish the dies to the finish you want without doing any harm (Dies are very hard). You will just need to be sure to clean all of the media out of the tumbler well when you are finished. I would also suggest doing 1 die at a time and checking their appearance often. You could then follow that up with walnut media afterward but it probably won't be required. When done rinse the dies out with hot water and dry with a blow dryer or air gun to insure al of the moisture is outta there. And to add to the firestorm: I do tumble loaded rounds for a few minutes post loading. A change I make is that I put a dab of Nu Finish polish in may hands and rub onto the loaded rounds, let dry then tumble. Makes the brass a bit smoother and cycles thru the mags a lot better. Have had NO ill effects from this since only very little of the polish remains on the jacket.
  20. You may find that the TF mag extensions will fit tight or not at all with the SSS magwell. The TF extensions from SSS are cut to take care of this. I just hit mine a bit with the belt sander to free them up with the magwell. Drop free now VERY easily.
  21. +1 on the paper clip section.. The first of many ideas I pulled of this forum since joining... Just can't beat doing it right the first time thanks to the efforts of others!!!!
  22. Another question on this subject. In this scenario lets say a shooter engages the star with 1 shot dropping 1 plate and then moves on to finish a stage. Would this be 4 Mikes's or 4 Mike's with 4 FTE's?? If things were not going well for me on the star I think I would insure I fired enough to cover the FTE's then finish the course of fire as cleanly as possible if round count was an issue just to keep my time down. As a new shooter, the star looks like fun but if it's going bad why let it ruin the stage........
  23. A forum special color?? Great, now I have to place another order... Great to see this going well.
