  1. Anderson Mfg has a no forward assist, no dust cover, WITH shell deflector upper. It is their SPORT upper. Mick
  2. Check the cutout in the BCG. I also have a "tight" port door you can try to see if that will solve your problem... Mick
  3. DO NOT inhale the fibres from G10 material Mick
  4. Change the phase 5 bolt release for a standard one and see what happens.... I have the same barrel with JP LMOS carrier and have no issues with bolt locking back on either TACCOM, std carbine buffer and gas set in the middle of the operating range... Mick
  5. A huge thanks to Mark and Carbon Arms! Match video here; www.facebook.com/smm3g Mick
  6. C products 9mm mags are crap. The standard is the Metalform mag, which is a modification of the original Uzi mag. Mick
  7. The difference in recoil shooting identical loads between the M3 and 1301 was very noticeable, for me. However, you seem to have talked yourself into getting the M2... Mick
  8. if you want to keep it all Colt, you can buy the 9mm specific flat top upper complete with gas deflector and port door from Brownell's or G&R Tactical. Mick
  9. I shot the Benelli M2 and Beretta 1301 and the Beretta has les recoil. I did not like the recoil impulse of the M2 and bought the 1301. But that is my personal preference. The M2 is a great shotgun and they run and run as long as they are fed the minimum power loads required. With that said, the Veramax has the lowest felt recoil, but is also the heaviest. The Beretta is light and fast handling like the m2 but softer shooting. I would suggest shooting an M2 and see how you like it first. Just my $0.02 ( = CAD $0.0251, so it's worth more ) Mick
  10. I have a 9mm SS Trojan that I will be adding slim VZ grips to. Are there any other mag well options to match the thin grips besides the S&A? Mick
  11. Buy a Colt 6951, install the trigger, furniture and sights of your choice and call it good. Mick
  12. From one Mick to another, Get the barrel clamp with the MXT tube, otherwise it can spin loose under recoil. Install tube till it bottoms out on nut, then back off half a turn. Mag extension will now float side to side and up/down. Then install barrel clamp - the floating mag tube will now align with the barrel. Tip - add non-slip electrical tape or similar to inside of clamp, or around tube to stop tube spinning under recoil. Mick Any advice or link to advice or page num that has advice? Haha
  13. ^^^^^^ This is the correct answer.... Mick
  14. I didn't have a problem getting one during their Black Friday sale. Not sure about the current supply situation... Mick Good luck finding one.
  15. The issue I have is that the QLS hole spacing isn't designed for the ELS belt. Safariland needs to offer a QLS size plate that has holes compatible with the ELS belt. Mick
  16. To the original poster, what gas block does SLR recommend for use with their hand guard? The set screw only, or is the clamp on OK as well? Todd at SLR will have the answer for you... Mick
  17. The "final where I want it" typically means lining up the gas tube hole on the barrel nut. The reason to tighten and loosen 3 times is to break in the threads of the barrel nut to the upper receiver. Grease the threads on the upper. Turn the barrel nut with the wrench till its snug and back it off. When you tighten again, you will notice the barrel nut will turn a little further is you apply exactly the same torque. Like mark, I used to tighten initially to ~40-45 using a torque wrench. I no longer bother. Just past tight is ~40-45. After backing off the nut on the 3 go, tighten till the gas tube hole aligns. You will find that you are typically in the 60-85 range when you are done.... Mick
  18. Aero upper with deflector but no forward assist. AP carbon fibre hand guard. Voodoo 16.5" rifle gas ultralight barrel. MFT Minimalist carbine stock. Aimpoint H1 2MOA red dot. JP LMOS carrier. On a standard lower the whole setup will weigh in at ~5.3lbs... Mick
  19. Also look at the Meprolight RDS. Looks like the love child of an Eotech and Aimpoint. 1.8 MOA dot with battery life of the Aimpoint, but with the FOV like an Eotech.... Mick
  20. Benelli makes a product called M2 and Remington has one called Versamax that you could try. Either one will guarantee zero carbon buildup on your JM930... Mick
  21. You make mention of the JP brake and its' effectiveness. The surefire MB556K or SOCOM brakes are of similar effectiveness to the JP, but also serve as suppressor adapters. So, either get the Surefire brake and can, or you will have to get a custom brake made... Mick
  22. Interesting comment on the Ti carrier. Not to derail the thread, but the Ti carriers wear faster? Can you maybe start a separate technical thread when you've got enough testing under your belt on the new Ti and Al ULMOS carriers? Mick
  23. What makes a bad barrel nut? A lot of hand guards come with their own flavor of barrel nut, but what about the old fashioned mil-spec barrel nut that the Samson Evo (and other) hand guards mount on? Mick
  24. More info from the Ramshot website, All data is for Hornady 55gr FMJ. .223 Remington 23.2 gr = 3,018 fps 25.8gr = 3,293 fps 5.56x45mm NATO 24.5gr = 3,159 fps 27.3gr = 3,450 fps
  25. Bushmaster upper and lower, $100 from Brownell's. Lower parts kit $55 Upper parts kit $15 Charging handle $35-45 (assuming you are adding a extended latch to a std handle, or just buying something like a BCM) JP trigger, $100 Grip of your choice $25 Bolt carrier group, std, $85 16- 18" barrel, $200-250 Muzzle brake $40-$125 gas block, $50 gas tube $10 handguard, $100-200 buffer tube kit $50 stock $40-85 On the high end, you are looking at ~$1,200 On the low end, you are looking at ~$900 If you pick up deals (or even better, prize table parts), you can get that cost down lower.
