  1. Another benefit of Arredondos, you don't lose sleep if you have to sand them down to fit the gauge...
  2. Had a Gen 3 with a Storm Lake barrel that had no issues with 200 grain SWC bullets. I didn't think it would feed them, based on the internet, but it had no problems.
  3. I get 23 reloadable with Arredondos, had them over ten years, with zero issues.
  4. I'm no expert,, but it seems the single feed is a pistol thing, maybe due to the lack of room In a weapon that needs to be portable. HK, ARs, AKs, Colt SMG, Uzi, CZ, Sig MPX, and most other rifles don't have single feed mags. Glock mags are designed for pistols, not rifles, and PCCs have been designed around the existing magazine for no other reason than it was thought everyone had Glock mags, so they'll buy a Glock mag PCC. Which is a joke, cause most people didn't have 32 round fun-sticks laying around, so they had to buy mags for whatever type gun the ended up with. It's been my experience that Colt SMG mag guns are easier to get to feed smoothly. Up until Taccom came out with their feed ramp, then their equally excellent superfeed barrels, Glock mag guns were hit and miss. JP also perfected the Glock mag gun, but you gotta be willing to pay their price, and it ain't cheap.
  5. Yeah, you're probably right, though they have come out with a smaller thumb safety, so maybe there's hope for this one...
  6. Yeah, wish the rail wasn't there, and wish they had a better "Classic" style grip adapter than the hokey, cheap, plastic one they have. Waiting on the aftermarket to pick up on this, but no joy so far. And how about some flat safeties like CZ does?
  7. Mine has been fine over about 1,000 rounds so far, bought in December 2020. I have the extra power spring on hand in case the issue develops though. Not sure what spring rates are, but changing hammer spring to 12 lb Wilson Combat lowered trigger pull by about .3 lb. Trigger was very good to start, slightly lighter now. 5.9 lbs DA, 2 lbs SA. No issues with CCI primers. I also have the Wilson Combat Short Reach trigger on mine, didn't like the reach to the stock trigger in DA. Made no difference in anything other than the reach to the trigger.
  8. I used this one, dropped in with no issues. Gun now fits in my standard Blade Tech Brigadier holster. https://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/frame-parts/disassembly-parts/levers-latches/beretta-m9a3-disassembly-lever-92-series-prod107993.aspx
  9. Ready Tactical for Production and Single Stack, you can easily get six on a belt with plenty of room to grab the magazine, and they're affordable. Safariland 773 for Carry Optics, and Limited, I had them laying around, only need three, so real estate on the belt isn't critical. I did modify the mount, removed the part that hung below the belt, it dug into my legs, so I cut the offending part off and screwed and glued the mount together. I like these two brands cause they're durable and don't have a lot of small parts to break. Lasted about eight years so far.
  10. Get one of these: https://taccom3g.com/product/signature-9mm-upper/ Spend another $150.00 on a bolt, then build a lower for about $400.00 or so depending on your choice of trigger and you could be well below a grand.
  11. Can anyone confirm whether the sight dovetails on CORE 1.0 and 2.0 slides are the same? Thanks. Bob
  12. It'd be nice if $20.00 magazines would work reliably, I'd buy a bunch before the manufacturer realized it and raised the price. The top round not easily stripped by hand doesn't bother me, cause it probably means the top round won't be dragged forward preventing the magazine from dropping free.
  13. Just saw, $20.00 each. That is a sweet price.
  14. I've never had an issue with Metalform 10 round mags other than they can be a bit of a pain to unload. I'm not doing that in the clock, so it's a non-issue for me, and the bug that makes them a pain to unload is probably the feature that prevents rounds from sliding forward (the only issue I've ever read about with Tripp magazines), preventing mags from dropping freely and interfering with mag changes,, which I am doing on the clock,, so again, not an issue. Never had an issue with the spacer either, not sure what the issue would be,, it puts the round closer to the feedramp, which is supposed to be a good thing, no? They hold 10 rounds easily, go into the gun with no hiccups, drop freely, and feed fine. What do the new MecGar mags cost?
  15. Now take it to the buffer, and voila!! Good as new.
  16. Comrade 5322, I chuckled. I was half-joking about the JB Weld in the divot, probably not necessary, but probably won't hurt either. The firing pin springs in these guns almost seem like an afterthought. Most of the ones I've handled seem pretty flimsy for what they're doing.
  17. Once the protruding piece is removed, and and firing pin replaced, wouldn't function be returned to normal? Not optimal to have a small divot in the breechface, but probably not a problem either. Bigger question is what caused the damage? The nose of the firing pin breaking off and getting jammed between the next round and the breechface? In any event, JB Well will fix it right up...
  18. Arredondos work. Had them since 2008, used on .40 & 9mm mags, 20+1 in 40 and 23+1 in 9mm. Also got a Dawson and a Taylor Freelance brass extension that work and hold same number of rounds.
  19. I'm just glad it wasn't a 5.56 round. That would have left a mark...
  20. Well, my two 9mm 1911s are a 2017 Colt GCNM and a Springfield Loaded Target, and both were so loosely put together, if the bullet jams onto the feedramp, there's probably enough wiggle room for the barrel to move and chamber the round anyway. The magazines that came with the Springfield were of the design you're talking about, but only held 9 rounds. I had no issue with them other than the limited capacity. Maybe I'll pick up one of the newer 10 round version and try it out. You can never have too many guns or magazines.
  21. This, but I use my middle finger. Trigger finger still comes off the trigger, just less contorting the gun in my hand. And I don't need to modify anything if I'm using an unfamiliar gun.
  22. Did this, makes it much easier to use the left thumb to drop the slide. Had to smooth the contact points on the slide and slide stop, not a big deal. I removed the detent and tiny spring, and reinstalled the housing, looks like nothing has been done. Not sure why this detent was put there, it serves no purpose but to make the gun less functional, especially for left handed shooters. To remove the housing, put a small screwdriver behind it, hold the slide stop up and pry the housing to the rear. It pops out. Remove the spring & detent, reinstall housing and back in business. I'll test it this weekend for auto-forward functionality, but even it it doesn't do this, it's still easier to use with your left thumb, and you can slingshot the slide forward if that's your thing.
  23. Not a lefty on rifles, but had this happen to my right forearm when shooting around a barricade left handed and had either an out of battery shot, or casehead blowout. Lot of blood, but surprisingly didn't hurt. Extractor pin sheared, extractor is probably what broke the skin, never did find it. Replaced the extractor, and gun was fine. Newer, AR15 style extractor on Taccom bolt.
  24. Got 12 older Metalform mags that haver given me a bit of trouble in two guns (heavily upgraded Springfield Loaded Target 9mm and a Colt GCNM that's had nothing done to it). Calling magazines that work "crap" is a bit extreme, no? Not saying your MecGar mags ain't the bees knees, just pointing out that there are other options out there that seem to work for a lot of people.
