  1. Tried the boards a couple of times but two days later looked like someone who fell out of an airplane at 10,000 feet. Not a born skier. Nate

  3. Does it bother any one else that you might end up with a chunk of shock buff floating around in your gun? Know lots of guys who do it but I have always been reticent. Nate
  4. You need to be happy with your gas block/ front sight fixture and front furniture. I put on a solid forend and wish I had machined out some slots or put on one with slots for cooling. Also no changing to a adjustable block once the comp goes on without cutting off the comp.
  5. My favorite text book scam is where the professor requires three texts, two of which he has "written". They are usually a collection of notes copied and bound together for................$25, and his new book for..................$55. Then the class is taught by a grad student with a very limited interest in the subject.
  6. I feel your pain. I would quit my job, but it would make those around me happy and that is reason enough to stay.
  7. SV. But it is the driver not the car (thought having a fast car is nice).
  8. I have a .40 EGW lee I would sell if anyone wanted it. Too many stops in my 650 and I don't seem to suffer from the bulged cases. Nate 1martin@bigsky.net

    Wedge

I just installed a wedge shaped main spring housing in my limited gun. I like the weight and the way it forces my medium sized hand up. The bottom of the housing comes out to the edge of my ice magwell. Any opinions on these? I am going to use it in dry fire for a week or so then take it to the range (if the snow doesn't reach my holster ). Nate

    Moving

It aint the house it's the man. Take your memories and your good feelings and live it up in your new home. Don't let that temporary domicile be a road block.
  11. This topic seems pretty well covered except for the part about 5 30 yard A's..........I'll get my rifle.
  12. Wow a scope instructional just waiting for me. Thanks Kellyn. I have some questions about distance and target size. How often do you seet targets past 300 yard and how big are they? I have only participated in uspsa three gun matches and only area and local at that. We have had less than 10 or 12 shots past 100 yards in each of these matches and usp's seem to be the target of choice.
  13. If I get my way at our local matches we will do away with doors and just have door frames. If you want to slow em down put a no shoot just inside or outside of the door way. The door always seems to be broken or sticks or gets ripped off the hinges or a new shooter points his gun at his hand or.......... Did I mention that I don't like doors. Still, a good way to support the frame indoors? I can't imagine what would stablize such a heavy prop without anchors.

    Toilet Paper

In my 41 years I have never seen a woman replace an empty toilet paper roll, now you are telling me when the do they put it upside down.

    Deer

OUCH that stinks Had a friend, Andy, driving his new pickup home from the dealership and hit 4 or 5 deer. He still wont talk about it. As for the deer.......Maybe a little garlic and a nice red wine.
  16. If you are not experienced in using a iron be very careful. You can cause quite a bit of damage with too much heat.
  17. Taran Butler has a SV that looks like he has taken about an inch or two off the end of a long wide frame. To what affect I don't know.
  18. "I'd still like to hear more ideas on optic/scopes for use in this new division" . . . I am a very average rifle and at 41 the .030 front sight tends to vanish at times on the far targets. I guess I will use the smallest dot possible (2 minutes?) or a small diamond if I can hit the steel with it. The 200 yard+ stages are few with low point values and what I gain with a variable will be lost with how it slows down the 75 yard and in shooting. A 20 target, 40 round, 200 point stage is going to be close just so it can be scored, and a dot is much faster for me. I guess we all take our points where we can. Some of the guys in open seem to be able to use the variable up close but they have much better rifle skills than I do.
  19. Advanced Perfomance at: http://aps.3av.com/ He will do any paint you want and you will love it. Nate
  20. Had a SV in .45 and it was a great gun, ran all the time and was accurate. The sight does track to the side a little rather than the straight back track from my .40. Also you might get 16 in a .45 and those 8 round arrays with steel don't leave much room for mistakes. If I could afford to keep them both I would like to have it back. TL, are you asking Rhino for fashion advice?
  21. At Nationals I held an alloy framed STI that would be sweet in the set up you are talking about. If you were not going to run 100k through it it might be great (who knows, it might stand up well). It is noticably lighter and will still hold a box of ammo and has the grip you are looking for. I have a stainless officer framed/ commander slide .45 and I'll bet it weighs more than the sti and my .45 only holds 8. Let us know what you end up with. My father-in-law has a subcompact glock in 10mm and that is the ultimate snappy gun.
  22. If I tell my son that if he "does that just one more time" I will punish him, over and over, I will see the behavior again with out fail. If he ends up in time out after I let him know one time the behavior doesn't fly, I rarely see it again. I know that DQ's suck to give but you are teaching him to be a range lawyer who will end up arguing even obvious situations not in his favor: "that hole on the no-shoot is not from a bullet ". People who are never wrong don't belong on the range, way to dangerous.
