I will surely be branded a heritic but I bought a cheap Wally world machine and have loved it. Lots of excercises available and I have used it 3 times a week for 2 years and it has not fallen apart. I was very surprised at how much it seems to help my shooting. I have a fine frame (kind of a fat body though) and the extra arm strenght is a big deal. All the fooling around with cows, horses and trying to fix your four wheeler in a 10 degree barn are worth it for the fun of turd dragging at high rates of speed in the spring

Something you can usually count on at an Area match is a Range Master (from outside in this case I'm sure) to correct any walk through language and debug a stage. As for the sub they should be able to do it with good target placement and a RO with a stout heart.

You think they will go through with the hatch-way design? It is interesting that there are 11 different start positions for 11 stages. I am happy not to see any low ports as my body is not a low port model. The range has several large bays but some of these stages will be set up on small pistol bays and should offer some of the hose work you mentioned. You do have to shoot 4 targets with a briefcase in your weak hand but that is the closest thing to unusual challenges. Nate

Had a custom SV .45 with a short dust cover and sold it. My .40 is faster for me but I still kind of miss the .45. I shot lead in it and it was very soft (and smokey) but did torque a lot harder than my .40. I want one of the light framed sti versions for carry.

I don't remember the two girls, what happened? In my town the deposit is as good as gone once you give it. We rented for years (while renting out our home in Colorado) and I could never get thing one repaired and had to go to court to get a deposit back on a place I left cleaner than when I moved in. Got half of the deposit 8 months later. College towns suck that way.

Area 1 registration ???
Nate replied to ktyler's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
That is the work of Joel Peters, a local gun smith and part of the match organization. He is listed on the USPSA site under vendors. Nate -

Eric's Subaru will fit right in in town. There are VW micro bus owners here!, as for the range.......... SANDOZ The KOA has cabins, it might not be a zoo in June. Go to the KOA web and check it out. If not shoot me an email and I will see what I can find. Nate -

I'm local and will be there. We will have to find a time to get together for a meal. Nate -
Do you like the tungsten rod in an open gun? I am just getting started with an open gun and was wondering what people liked. Nate

Matches in Las Vegas this Winter?
Nate replied to Nate's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
Thanks George, I will give it a look. I am looking for somthing this winter to get me out of the cold for a few days. Never done a three gun nat so that sounds like the ticket in the fall. Nate -
Skip the new SV ambi. I had if fit by a smith and it never was any good on the right side. I took mine out. Any one want one to play with? I think it could work with a few mods but I am not the guy to make them. I will make you a screaimg deal. nate

We have new super low air fair to Las Wages from my area and I am wondering if there is a special match of any kind to be shot this winter. A section match or big club match would be great. I need to get out of the beautiful but cold Montana winter for a few days. I looked and saw the sin city club schedule but it does not describe the matches. Glen are you still the boss there? Nate

It's funny you should bring it up. I sent Benny my pistol a few months ago and got it back in the same fast manner. I had him do his reliability package and it made a good gun terrific. I had only put a few hundred rounds through it until the last month when I was again able to get out every week and it is running like a clock. Time for the open gun to go. Nate

Broke a firing pin stop on a SV, same crack in corner as described above. Shot it that way for a long time with no trouble. Also broke a firing pin on a single stack, though I have to think it was a metal issue. That was a strange failure as my gun ran ok until I droped the hammer on an empty chamber and then had a lot of firing pin in the chamber.

What's in your pockets?
Nate replied to mcoliver's topic in Miscellaneous Topics That Do Not Fit in Any Other Forum
Right Front: Car Keys, Handcuff Key Left Front: Work keys, small folder Left Rear: Wallet Right Rear: Who in the heck carries anyting in that pocket Taped to the inside of my belt: extra hadcuff key and razor blade. Just a note here, DON'T GO THROUGH AIRPORT SECURITY WITH THE CRAP TAPED TO YOUR BELT. No amount of ID and explaining will get you to your airplane on time -
If you feel like the grip is a little narrow the Burner grip can be had in a wide configuration. It does come with some grit on it but I added to that in the way mentioned above. You may need an enhanced mag release. It made a big difference in how I shoot my single stack.

I actually had some wear in my disconnector tunnel and the round ball (SV) of the disconnector was hanging up on the worn spots. The pistol was going to Mr. Hill anyway so he took care of it and smoothed out the tunnel.

How often do you have to make shots in USPSA MOR that you do not have a pretty good Idea of the target range? Can you use a range finder during walk through? Is 600 yards the longest shot you have seen at a match?

Glad to see Stern make a stand, but too little too late. Money is a killer. I find it amazing that any 20 year old men survive being given millions of dollars, not to mention a guy that a doctor has ordered to take meds for his mania. I hate to think what I would have done at 20 or 25 with a endless pile of money.

A good trick when painting a grip is to use a product called "Sand Free". It is a combination of solvents that soften the substrate for better adhesion. It is used for painting plasic or poly car parts. Spray it on and paint while it is still wet. I used it to cover a terrible paint job on a used grip I bought. Nate

Suggestions for Scope for Manually Operated Rifle
Nate replied to Religious Shooter's topic in Precision Rifle
He did great work on my shotgun. George, I appreciate it. I will probably do it. I wonder if they can fit one with a nut so it could be removed for matches that don't allow it. I shot Bruce Gary's AR with one of the tank breaks and it actually feels like it is pulling away from your shoulder. Nate
