  1. Benny, what do you think of putting some slide glide on that spring? I have done it and it has not caused me any trouble and the sound effect is gone. I don't run 10k a year of 223 like some of you though, so I don't know if problems develop later. I clean it out each winter and reapply. Nate
  2. I take it that with the change in ownership that all is forgiven with S&W politics of the late 90's?

    Camo Everything

Some place out in the mountians of Montana is a camo fanny pack (I got for my birthday) with a Kenwood 2 meter radio a knife, some sun glasses and marking tape.
  4. Some one better throw out the anchor as I feel I am drifting. I'm doing the MOR rifle on the cheap thing. Still spending the price of a used .40 wide body. I am convinced I have the right rifle and the right calibre. Scope I bought is a question mark but looks good in the box. Still need rings, bipod, dies, range finder......... I am thinking about sending the rifle off to JP to have one of his comps mounted. No recoil (they are awsome) will have to help my shooting. I wont list the brands until I can see what I have as I don't think I can take too much "encouragement" right now.
  5. You can look at them on the Advanced Perfomance Shooting site also. Thread drift: Rhino 8 1/4 hat? That is a big cocoanut!

    Voting

Voted in 5 minutes with my son ( he got to go twice, once with my wife and once with me). We used little black pencils just like in 1st grade. Only strange thing was one issue called for voting for 7 out of 21 people for a comission of some sort. Nothing about party and nothing in the voter guide. Started at the end of the list and picked names I liked.
  7. Thanks Rhino and Smokshwn! I love those little boxes under the Christmas tree.
  8. Sorry to hear that. We had better luck here in the Big Sky state, but times are changing. We even have to lock our house. Nate
  9. Do they (eotech) make one with the 1 minute dot, 65 minute circle and AA batteries? I like all those qualites. I have a cheap small dot on my AR and it is great at 200 plus yards but is developing a corona around the dot so it is about time to move up. You can always count on the people on this forum for expertise. Nate
  10. Rhino, is this the one with the one minute dot? Have you shot any 200 yard usp? I have always thought that this is THE set up for tactical. If you can see it you can shoot it. Nate
  11. I have no idea, but the terms "home gunsmith and breachface" in the same sentence give me a bad feeling. Does it affect the function on your gun? Nate
  12. I really loved my SV .45 and sold it to by my .40. After reading this thread I am going to call the guy I sold it to and see if he wants to sell it back. I always shot lead and it was very smokey but very soft. I could get 16 in a couple of mags (140mm). I was thinking it might make a super L10 gun.
  13. I had a SV .45 for a long time and found the SV mag tube to be much better than the STI. I guess you would be stuck with the 126 mm tubes. Someone makes a +1 pad for the IPSC box, maybe Dawson? Try his web page. I also like the red Arrendando followers and his mag springs. Also we have a couple of members who will tune mags for capcity and performance: Triangle Shooting Sports and Grams. Both those guys are outstanding. Try a serch also, I am sure there will be several good threads. Nate
  14. "They have taken up year round residence at the local mall. Yuck! You could fill your limit quick with a baseball bat, but I can't imagine eating the giant feathered rats". Taste like chicken
  15. TJ was shooting a post this summer (at least when I saw him shoot) and he says TGO will black the FO sight out for some stages. I can not follow the .090 that I had on my limited gun as well as the FO I use now, but my point was that vision/pecepton was what seperates the top shooters not the sight.
  16. It seems that most of the top dogs do not use a FO front and I have always wondered if the reason is that their vision is better than most of ours? They seem to have the ability to quickly focus back and forth on long shots and to still find a black sight on a black gun up close. I love the small FO on a narrow front. N
  17. I bought a gun from a forum member and after 40K rounds the darn thing needed a couple of hundred bucks to make it run like new . Gave the $ to a forum member. Lot of good honest people here. Nate
  18. A friend encouraged me to shoot at a smallish dot on a target, maybe a 2" X 2" dot. The trick was to keep pushing the front sight back to the dot as you pull the trigger. Start close and work back a step at a time, trying to keep the groups close to the same size. The "pushing the dot back to the target" concept really helped me gain follow through on my shots. It will come, good luck. Nate
  19. How many single stack guns finished in the top 10 at Nationals? Any class winners? How many GM's chose to shoot L10? Did any use single stack? I don't know and am interested. I am guessing that a lot of people who have put off shooting limited and even open will now try it with legal mags available. Maybe we don't need a place for single stack or maybe we do, but I do think it is worthy of discussion. Nate
  20. With the sunset of the magazine ban and with new rule books to be mailed soon, is it time to tune our new rules to our new (old) laws? Should we make limited 10 a single stack division? Should Production mags be limited to mags shipped with pistols, no matter the capacity? If it is done soon it could be folded into the new rule book. It would give single stack guns a place in our sport that I think they need. I have not looked at the new rule book has it been done? Nate

    Range Stooges

Let me rephrase............Range stooges get old. As a new shooter I may have fallen into the range stooge catagory for a while. I just could not get enough info and did not know where else to go to get it. However I am tired of having 20 minutes of my hour or two sucked up by people who follow down range to talk after you make it clear you don't want to. I have turned around after a drill to see a guy handling a gun behind me.
  22. Thanks for the advice, I will do that. Nate
  23. What do you think of the 22 45 as a starter for a kid? Is the grip angle close and is the grip small enought for young hands? I have my son plinking away with his rifle (a neat little Henry with a FO front sight) and he is really pushing for a pistol. How are the sights? On the subject of kids and guns, Bill Sahlberg gave a good piece of advice, never stray more than an arms length from a kid with a pistol as the short gun can turn into trouble with out much movement. I would be pretty happy if he turns out to like our sport .
