  1. In Three Easy Steps! 1. Switch to low brass ammo in a gun that favors high brass in mid-stage. 2. Throw several misses after getting flustered because you now have a (even less convenient than normal) pump shotgun. 3. Have a member of the peanut gallery drop the f-bomb ABOUT your shooting. This video is from our local Defensive Multi-Gun match, which is 3-gun based on IDPA rules with concessions made for the long guns. On this particular stage the course of fire mandated that we start with three rounds in the tube and one in the chamber. Shoot the six clays in sequence and priority (as if each pair was one target), then move to the end of the barricade and pie the four steel plates. My plan: since I started with 3 in the tube at the buzzer and my 930 SPX holds 7, I'll load 4 immediately after the buzzer and take the 6 clays, then load 2 on the way to the end of the barricade. I was lazy friday night and didn't feel like driving 45 minutes one way to pick up high brass ammo at the only place I know to find it locally. I thought that the low brass stuff that I had on hand (which USED TO BE about 90% reliable before I stopped cleaning the gun so diligently...) and the handfull of high brass stuff that I had leftover would do me. It didn't. Now I'm kicking myself. Lesson learned. Here's the video (rated "R" for language...one f-bomb in the background...) http://s616.photobucket.com/albums/tt244/r...nt=MVI_1027.flv
  2. I'm famous! Not really...but I'm the SO running the clipboard (with the hat) in the second half of one of those videos. Here's my youtube channel...mostly IDPA, but the most recent three are my first attempt at USPSA Limited- shooting a Glock 24 that I had bought the night before: http://www.youtube.com/user/MrSWasHere Sorry for the crappy video quality...these were made with my cell phone.
  3. Updated pic of my setup...added shelves to move some of the clutter off the bench to make more room for cleaning guns.
  4. If you spread the cost of the equipment out over a few months until supply is (hopefully) back to normal it's like you wouldn't have spent anything.
  5. +1 I'm fortunate to live close to Chris Stewart and have lots of his products.
  6. SSR - MM by classifier. I (unintentionally) shoot classifiers very poorly. It's the only time I ever get nervous while on the clock. It is for that reason I've just about decided if I ever move to a higher classification, it'll be by way of a bump at a major. Got bumped to SS in SSR last weekend by way of classifier (surprisingly). Shaved about 20 seconds off my time since I first shot it with the wheelgun in April. I wish I could make that much progress EVERY two months.
  7. Our first born- Ralph, the humane society rescue: Middle child- Helix, found on the side of the road...the rest of her litter didn't make it. Our youngest- Billie, mix...great watchdog.
  8. I bet if you found some screws that are of similar finish and fit semi-flush to go in those holes no one would even notice.
  9. Just finished her up yesterday with the Burris PEPR and DMS-1. DPMS lower, RRA Middy upper with front sight cut down under handguard. Jard 1.5 pound trigger (more like 1 pound 15 ounces), Miculek Brake:
  10. That's what I thought immediately as well, since it happened when the upper was on a different lower.
  11. Some of mine I've had over the years... Currently all I have is this: (cafe racer restification that's a work in progress)
  12. I was the one running the clipboard on stage 7 at the IDPA Southern Regional yesterday with a 686 on my hip. Very nice to meet you and great shooting! Alex Stephenson
  13. Practice loading your shotgun. I always pack up my gear the night before, and go through it again the morning of. If I oversleep I won't have to worry about forgetting to pack something, and if I don't oversleep I have a second chance to make sure everything's there.
  14. I've always heard that you should put the gun under your dominant eye. You can train your weak hand (with repetition) to feel more comfortable, but you eye dominance (usually) won't change.
  15. +1 Make sure your email address is correct on the information page on the IDPA site.
  16. Ordered mine from SWFA in mid-February and I'm still waiting. I've got a Millett DMS-1 just waiting to be mounted. Oh well...I guess this Saturday's 3-gun match will be shot with my POS Bushnell again...
  17. Any competent gunsmith should be able to do this without any problems.
  18. I've had bark from a tree I used as support ground into the knurling on my aluminum FF tube for several months now. I tried using a toothbrush to clean it out but it just kinda smeared and spread it. Now I just say "F' it".
  19. I'm tempted to duct tape a box of shells to the end of my shotgun to get an idea of how much extra weight one would have to be swinging around with one of those attached and loaded to capacity. Interesting concept, though, and it looks like they executed it nicely.
  20. I like the 147's also. 3.1 gr. Titegroup and a Wolf Small Pistol Magnum primer make 136 PF out of my G34.
  21. Nope. Read my post again. (Check your crystal.) Add 10 to "their class and the class above them" Add 9 to "their class" I stand corrected. I'm putting my crystal in the shop tomorrow.
  22. The rules are crystal clear to me. Lemme try to explain it better. A shooter has to beat at least 10 people in his class and/or the classes about him (in his division) to get bumped. For two shooters to get bumped they'd both have to beat at least 20 people in their class and/or the classes above theirs (in their division). For three shooters to get bumped they'd all have to beat at least 30 people in their class and/or the classes above theirs (in their division). For every shooter that gets bumped just add 10 to the number of people in their class or the classes above them (in their division, of course) that they'd have to beat.
  23. My interpretation is a little different from yours. If there are 30-39 in your class the top 3 will move up; 40-49 and the top 4 will move up; 50-59 and the top 5 will move up, and so on and so forth. Basically put- the top 10% will move up a class.
  24. I'll shoot my first match next month...if I decide I like it I'll buy a better dot.
