  1. Yeah...I thought about that so I checked it today. With it tightened down good the shells stayed put through a whole box of heavy dove loads. It's still not too tight to pull them out quickly, though.
  2. Just wanted to show you guys what I did to my SLP. I've seen the soft 2-packs that some folks have, but I don't much care for the straps that wrap all the way around the gun. I also figure it'd have to be removed for cleaning, which might be a pain. I was placing an order with Choate and I had them throw one of these since they're so inexpensive. It mounts with screws, which were drilled into the forearm. I like how the top shell is lined up with the ejection port. All I have to do is put a bit of pressure on the brass end with my thumb while dragging it backward with my index finger. Anywho...just thought I'd share my cheap/handy mod.
  3. I'd feel much more comfortable with an 1100 over a 930 at the buzzer after all I've been through with mine.
  4. My relationship with my 930 SPX started poorly from the beginning. The day I brought it home I couldn't get more than 5 shells to load in the tube. I had to trim the forearm back so the magazine tube would fit without a gap that binded the follower. Mine wouldn't cycle anything but 3 3/4 dram high brass birdshot. I've heard that others would, but mine never did...no matter how clean or dirty or wet or dry it was. The trigger guard snapped into several pieces while shooting slugs. There were obvious voids in the casting. All in all it's probably fine...I had heard nothing but good things about them...I might have just got a lemon.
  5. I figured it out once I got it apart. Pretty simple. Thanks anyway, guys!
  6. I just traded my Mossberg 930SPX in on a new FN SLP Mark 1 and I LOVE IT. The only thing I don't like is the trigger guard mounted safety. I read somewhere that the safety on the SLP is reversible for left-handed operation, but it's not covered in the manual, and I searched but was unable to find anything about it here. Can someone provide instructions on the procedure?
  7. Thanks, Bart for the points to focus on in practice for a while. Old habits are hard to break.
  8. After watching the video several times I realize that I'm leaning forward during my draw. The draw is also pretty darn slow. I've been working on keeping my upper torso still during the draw but obviously I have some more work to do. What else do you guys see? BTW, I'm pretty new to USPSA...I've mostly shot IDPA up till this point and this DOH Holster is kinda new to me. I'm two matches away from a classification (probably C).
  9. Here's a couple of (very) short ones I made tonight. Sorry it's kinda dark. I've been trying to get my draw and reload smoother. Now they need to get faster...especially the draw. Lemme know what y'all think.
  10. 58.86 total- 22.87(0) 12.23(3) 18.60(3) 5.16(1) - ESP SS 62 and change- SSP SS I shot the same gun (stock Glock 34) for both, two weeks apart. I can't remember my points down or individual scores for my SSP run.
  11. I've been thinking about getting a 17 to replace the one I (foolishly) sold and to act as a backup to my 34 that I use in IDPA. Might have to get one with the RTF.
  12. You can take a piece of velcro and put on the inside of the holster loop to help with this. I've got no experience with this personally, but if you have no heat gun, I have heard some say you can hang the holster by a piece of wire into a pot of boiling water for a few minutes and soften the loop to the extent it can be reformed for a tighter fit. Heard one guy say he even put his in the microwave oven. YMMV. Thanks, Chris...that idea came to me today. BTW...thanks for the fast shipping on my orders! I got my extra basepad today, and my previous order took less than 48 hours to arrive at my door!
  13. I just picked up my Ready Tactical DOH for my Glock 24 on Tuesday. I've had the chance to do a few hundred draws and I like it. The only complaint I have is that the belt loop isn't curved and creates a gap between the belts on my CR Speed rig creating some instability. Probably an easy fix if I had a heat gun, but I don't. Otherwise it's great for the price.
  14. Yep. I could hardly believe it when I saw a G-17L and G-24 side-by-side in the counter last trip to Academy. Me too...so I bought the 24.
  15. I've seen one at just about every Academy Sports I've been to around here (3 total). If you have Academy there you might want to check with them.
  16. I shot a friend's AA kit on my 34 lower this weekend and it was a blast! I've GOT to get one of these...
  17. 19...easily loadable. Did you change follower to get 19rnds? I have 3 dawson extension and I can only add +2??? No. One of my mags has a #4 follower and the other two have #8 followers. I DO have to "jiggle" the baseplate on one of the #8's to get it to feed past 17, though. You might try that.
  18. I would have gone with blue. I don't think the Deluxe belt is available in anything but red...unfortunately. I'd would have preferred plain black or blue also.
  19. All good stuff that should work nicely. I'd get more mags set up with extensions as three total really isn't enough. There are some classifiers where you'll want more than three mags so you don't have to use one you've already dropped for a reload. Also, if you only have three and start with one in the gun and two on your belt on a long field course you might be asking for trouble.....it's possible to knock one out of a pouch during the COF and have a problem after the reload and not have a spare. I think 3 on the belt and one for the gun is a much safer setup. I've actually hit a doorframe and had two mags knocked out (you should have heard everybody gasp!), but I finished the stage (32rd field course) just fine because I had two more on my belt. R, You're right, and I have thought about that. The problem is that I ran out of my allotted money for this month with the stuff I ordered. Next month I'll be picking up a couple more mag extensions and some sights (the jury's still out on what I want to get...I have Sevigny's on my 34 and I'm not sure if I wanna go with those or get something adjustable). I figure I can keep a non-extended mag in the third pouch for emergencies and "thumb it in" if I need to.
  20. I've shot Production a few times in the past year or two and decided to jump into Limited. I shot a match with my Glock 24 using my IDPA/Production rig at a local match last month and enjoyed the heck out of it. I recently decided to get the "right" gear for the job. Today I ordered from www.cpwsa.com (talked to Chris...what a nice guy!): CR Speed Deluxe red belt 3 CR Speed versa pouches 3 Dawson Glock magazine extensions Dawson ICE Magwell I've got Chris Stewart of Ready Tactical making me a dropped/offset holster for the 24. I'm fortunate to be local to him and will pick up the holster at an IDPA match this Saturday. What do you guys think?
  21. Thanks. I need to spend more time cleaning and less time practicing reloads lol.
  22. Me and my girl Billie having a heart to heart...
