  1. Just buy a smooth trigger and put it on. They are just there for importation points
  2. I have shot a friends 5 inch and 6 inch and the 6 inch was better for me. Just make sure the slide is lightened. I shot the 6inch to try out with the uncut slide and it just didnt feel right. I have my 6inch i got getting the slide lightened right now. The glock is the same way for me at least. I have had both the 35 and 24 and like the 24 much better.
  3. 9mm 1911 slide is easy to move and the recoil isnt going to be harsh even with 1 hand
  4. I believe buds use to have one
  5. Kimber CDP,tactical etc are aluminum frame. Kimber does make a 4inch slide, officer length grip that is called the compact. I never had a problem with the barrel lenght being concealed. The 2 things that make a gun harder to conceal are width and grip length
  6. Lexington is the closest place to stay. Plenty of places to eat and tons of hotels between 30-45 min away.
  7. I agree get a mount that hangs the scope over the handguard. Larue makes a nice one and you can save some money if you order it without the the quick disconnect to the tune of saving 50 bucks on the monunt

    No Choke?

I always choked a little tight when shooting as I would reather have too much than not enough. The chokes I was shooting skeet with were in the IC range. On shootoff doubles, the top choke had a little extra choke in it especially in the wind. I wanted to know no matter what, I had enough choke to powder the target going over the stake if I had to for the wind. Also nothing like leaving 2 ink balls hanging 2 feet apart in a shootoff. Was shooting a Krieghoff at the time and wouldnt risk damaging the threads for a little looser pattern. People manage to break the station 8 targets in skeet with choke in the gun and there are alot that shoot them pretty close. ).
  9. DO you have access to a mag gauge? The Dawson SNL is a 4mm base pad
  10. i like the aranite on my carry gun.
  11. 223 less recoil, faster recovery shots, higher capacity mags.
  12. Factory extended parts are allowed as they are allowed on other approved models ie the 34/34. Guide rod is an internal modification(Still need to make weight which isnt iffy with steel but can be with tungsten). Refinishing the slide is fine as long as its for cosmetic reasons and not a competative advantage. You cant refinish a slide is something like say truck bed liner that is rough since it gives the competative advantage of grip tape on the slide

    No Choke?

It hasnt happened to him but you stand a good chance or messing your threads up. Choke for the shot or use a little tighter choke than necessary. Spray and pray with too loose a choke or no choke is not a recipe for success
  14. A piece of shockbuff can temporarily disable a grip safety. On a side note, what would be the legality of something like this where there is no grip safety at all. If it were a custom build, it would have never had a grip safety. http://www.novaksights.com/assets/images/guns/photogallery1911/pages/colt001465_jpg.htm
  15. Shoot the one oz loads here and havent had trouble getting steel to go down or a texas star. Runs all day long too out of the 1100. I do run a modified choke though and dont try the spray and pray with a wide open choke.
  16. I have a TTO and it works quite well especially considering its a little shorter than an A2. I put one on a 10.5 inch and its not much worse than an a2 noise wise. The only difference between the TTO and 556 is the TTO has no flash hider.
  17. Pretty much use a modified here all the time. Was hitting the steel down with 1oz loads of 8shot. If it was excessive distance I would up it to 1 1/8.
  18. Only problem I see with the single pellet hit is often it wont break the clay in 3gun especially if rabits are used. It would get seen in scoring that it was hit and counts but I like to see the clays break in 3gun especially in bennings scoring where a miss is very costly time wise. It takes more to break a stationaty target than a moving spinning target. If I don't see it break, its hard to leave it and hope there is a pellet hole in it.
  19. The 410 just dosent have enough shot to fill the entire pattern you are looking for uniformly. On the 410 your looking for uniform pattern in the useable pattern(without the fringe). If you talk the pellets out of the middle(which dosent have a ton to spare) and try to cover a larger area you get holes in the pattern. I know how the bad lights go. Masters(when it was in savannah) first squad out station 1 and low 8 were awful for the sun which is one reason people tried to get the rotation which never had it. The shootoffs were also awful especially for the 20 ga which got started in the twilight every year. On the poor lights, a set of clear glasses helps a little but not much.
  20. Went with a 10.5 inch here. I went against the grain and built it with local doublestar parts. It runs like a champ without any tweeking. I did upgrade to a spikes tactical H2 buffer to smooth it out but it runs on a carbine buffer as well. Feeds anything from xm193 to wolf without a hitch

  22. Just didnt get the breaks I wanted with the Difusion choke. It was chipping away more than I liked. It made it much harder to read your hits on the target when your not getting as good of breaks. I would typically choke for smoke for the added confidence. For the 410, the chokes can depend on the ammo you use. Of the big 3, federal usually patterns the most open and needs the most choke, then winchester, then remington patterns the tightest.
  23. I tried it for skeet when I was shooting it and was not that impressed with it. I would typically shoot chokes closer to IC than Skeet in cylinder. For doubles, the chokes were tightened up closer to a LM for the second shot. In 410, you do not want super loose chokes in skeet. Alot try to shoot cylinder or maby 3 thousands and run into problems in the 410 especially for doubles. By doubles chokes in 410 ranged from IC to Mod
  24. On safety issues I am all for it but it needs to be a very obvious safety issue. You think the shooter broke the 180 keep your mouth shut the ro is there watching them and what may look like a broken 180 from your angle might not actually be one. A shooter down range or something else of the sort yell it all day long especially if its out of the RO/shooters view
