  1. Nice diagram Yigal, I get it now, when I 'tune' the extractor is cusses as me in greek.
  2. I've tested SW Major Pistol loads with both 124 gr PD JHP bullets and Bayou coated ones in my Czechmate with comp and no popples. Didn't run enough of either to see if there was a difference in comp leading, however 9.3 to 9.5 gr at 1.09-1.13 OAL should get you in major PF territory
  3. I've got a holosun 507c and thinking of picking up a second as a back up. PSA is selling these for $209/shipped. Anyone know of any better deals on this or similar optic?
  4. Not sure a laser under the barrel is allowed. Flashlights are forbidden and there's very specific rules on where the electronic site can be mounted.
  5. I needed an additional bag on an international business trip. Grabbed one of my range bags, put my extra work stuff in it and didn't think more about it. While clearing security in the EU they noticed a tiny metal blip on the x-ray. It happened to be a .22 LR round that had gotten buried in the seams/stitching of the bag. As all ammunition is regulated in EU (think IL FOID or recently CA laws) it turned into quite a s#!t show, all over a .22 cartridge. From now on, my range bags and travel gear are kept distinctly separate.
  6. OP: If you let us know what powder you're planning to use for your open minor setup, you'll get lots of feedback about what bullet and OAL works from the members here.
  7. With the comp I don't think there's another division this gun would be allowed in.
  8. Another vote for single side here. Haven't found a need/use for the ambi ones
  9. Still looking for a place to pick up additional trigger shoes for the X-line triggers, as Atlas has been OOS since ~ Dec. Might end up just switching to the SVI one, as several vendors (in addition to SVI) carry the inserts for these.
  10. Another black friday purchaser here. Hoping to get the pistol yet this month, so I can practice a bit before the season starts up again in March.
  11. I use alcohol and cut up cleaning patches to clean my primer tube periodically. I like the idea of the brake fluid cleaner. Use it on my pistols when they get really dirty, never thought to use it to wipe down the ol'650
  12. Damn DRK,sounds like you're OK, so that's a plus. On the flip side, no pics? What exactly happened? Inquiring Dillon 650 reloaders want to know
  13. Just noticing that PT offers 'extra' agressive texture now. I have the PT aggressive and LSI grips. I find the LSI to be slightly more aggressive than the PT (could be because the PT is aluminum and the LSI is SS) however looking for feedback on the PT extra aggressive. I have a Honcho (yea I know, they could have came up with a better name) on order and originally ordered the 'aggressive' grip. Now I'm wondering if I should get the xtra aggressive
  14. Agree, if the Honcho platform proves to be reliable its price point will be very attractive for those wanting a semi-custom open rig. From my perspective, there are the Bul and SPS open guns in the $2.5K range, then CZ czechmate in the $3000 range, the PT rig should be around the $4K price point, depending upon options and above $4K you have the normal suspects (Atlas, CK, SVI, etc.) making custom and semi-custom rigs.
  15. You make your own trigger shoes? Now that's pretty damn impressive!
  16. Wut? Never heard of this issue before. This is happening with the gun as delivered by the factory or were additional modifications made?
  17. Not sure there's a compelling reason to pick up a DWX if you already have a TSO, for the reasons you pointed out. The main advantage is the 2011-style trigger (coupled with CZ grip angle) for those folks that don't like the feel of a hinge trigger, like the TSO. Having said that, I pre-ordered a DWX to check it out. If you're dipping your toes into limited, I'd pick up a TSO or TS and see how you like it. Entry level 2011s are going up in price, so good luck finding a new one at the same price point as a new TSO.
  18. I shot STIs (Edge and DVC) this past season, however I was using 'tuned' mags. STI has since discontinued the 'Edge' line of pistols, which started at <$2000/new. New the cheapest 2011 for limited that STI offers is somewhere around $2500-2800. The TSO is a great pistol. It could easily take you to M-class with no modifications, provided you do your part.
  19. Difficult decision OP, as what you have is paid for (sunk cost) however there is a cost to transporting it from place to place as your family grows. The money is already spent. Unless you have an urgent need for additional cash flow or need to downsize, there doesn't seem to be a driving financial need to liquidate that your holdings.
  20. Yep, the blue LOK grips did it for me also
  21. Congrats on the purchase OP! For the money, the TSO is one of the best (THE best? now that there are no more Edge's...) limited rigs available. No pistol modifications needed, just grab some basepads/springs so that you can load at least 20 in the mag and you're set to start shooting limited and with a very competitive pistol. I ran a TSO (both 9mm and .40) in limited for several years and loved the fact that the gun just flat out 'runs'! I didn't have to tune mags, tweak extractors or change springs to make the pistol work. Not to say that people don't do these things, just that they are not 100% required. I wanted to change things up last year, so shot 2011s in Limited all season. This provided me with a good overall perspective on the 2 most popular design platforms (there are some striker guns, but most folks either run a 2011 based or CZ based [to include Tanfo and other clones] shooting platform) in USPSA Limited division. If you catch the 'mod' bug there's lots of folks here that can provide a wealth of experience and opinions on what works and doesn't. In closing, shoot that thing and have fun doing it.
  22. You'll need to mock up a dummy round and test to determine appropriate OAL for your specific pistol/barrel. Not that hard to do, just take a fired case that allows your bullet to fit snugly and seat the bullet without crimping it. Check it in your barrel to determine if it will 'plunk and spin'. If not reduce OAL a bit more and try again. Follow this process until you find the OAL that works for your bullet/pistol combination. Remember that with a shorter OAL, you'll need less powder to make the same PF, all other things being equal. I've loaded as short as 1.080 and as long as 1.12 for my pistols.
