  1. Wow, that interesting. Thanks for sharing Rich.
  2. Apologies, I misread your 'statement' about your load work-up as being a 'question'.
  3. Hey there boss, you might want to consider posting this question in the 'reloading' forum.
  4. The angle of the picture made the GR on the left look a bit funky. Here's a better pic. Feels like it's aluminum, if so perhaps it was acting like a buffer and was actually a good thing... who knows. I replaced it with a stainless one anyway, so that it would match my other limited pistol.
  5. Thanks for the feedback RIID. Are you saying that the frame the ‘left’ guide rod was in, is out of spec? or is the guide rod out of spec? If it makes a difference both guide rods were installed in STI frames. However my understanding is that these frames have a degree of variation depending on when they were made.
  6. Seems I missed the deal by a few minutes as I was deciding on last minute options. Looking forward to any X-mas/New Year deals now.
  7. @Ssanders224 and @MVPFc thanks for the quick responses!
  8. Looking into picking one of these up also. I'm seeing two options for 9mm barrels w/comp. Which one is the larger comp seen in the pics, suitable for open? Also if configuring the pistol for both 9mm and .40, are both breach faces required or can you run the 9mm barrel w/.40 breach face?
  9. Cleaned my two limited guns as the season here is all but done. Both guns started the year with new guide rods. One guide rod is an EGW, I don't recall the brand of the other one, nor which guide rod went into which gun. I thought that guide rods were all essentially the same so didn't bother to track this stuff. I should add that both pistols get about the same use and I run the same recoil spring in both. Looking at the GR on the left, it seems I need to pay a bit more attention to brand names.
  10. Looking to add a metal grip to my limited gun during the off-season. I have a PT AI grip on one of my STIs (didn't fit the other one) and really like the feel of the grip. However I'm considering other grips, perhaps a SS one for the weight. Looking to see if there are any deals our there on metal grips. Here's my short list so far: PT Evo SVI LSI Any other grips out there that take standard magwells and mag releases? I'm leaning towards the LSI as I already know that the PT grip will require some major filing to fit on my STI, however six and a half bones isn't something to sneeze at either. Unfortunately, LSI doesn't offer any lower cost alternatives to the Outlaw in aluminum like PT does.
  11. Agreed! LMK if you have a lead on more of this powder.
  12. @nbdyspl I think you received a bad batch of powder. I checked mine, it says 'Pistol' where your picture says rifle. My load book shows 9.3-9.5 gr of Major Pistol under either 124 JHP PD or RMR bullets yield power factors in the 170 range when fired from a czechmate. Granted my OALs are likely shorter than 2011 loads, but this shouldn't drop you back 20 PF or so. I'd suggest following up with the powder vendor/seller to confirm you actually have Major Pistol powder and not something else. Alternatively, purchase a pound of powder elsewhere to double-check your findings. Oh, and good luck on the 9-major journey. While it has its challenges, it can be a lot of fun developing loads also.
  13. Congrats and welcome to the family. Careful, these CZs are known to multiply.
  14. @Lucreauthat there is pimp-a-liscous. Wish I had one Anyone know if LSI has resumed taking orders on grips? Think I need to throw my name in the hat and pick one up.
  15. I see one of these in my future, however wondering about availability. Hopefully these will be readily available, unlike the TSOs when they first came out.

    CZ TSO holster

I run the DAA TSO insert without the barrel rest and both my TSO and CM (thin trigger guard) fit with very little movement. Maybe Skyhigh got a bum one....
  17. Meant to say TTI basepads, followers are grams.
  18. I have Gen 1 STI 140mm tubes and TTI 4g2 followers. They fit the gauge just fine.
  19. The extractor holds the loaded round in place prior to firing. Could be that the new extractor hook or location of pin dimension have changed the way the bullet is presented.
  20. For my .40 TSO 180gr coated bullets @1.13 OAL and 4.5gr of N320 results in 170-172 PF.
  21. still down today, Friday 4 Oct.
  22. The concept of an open .40 is mildly interesting. I reload so can work out the load to maximize the comp. However I don't hear much about mags. Who's making big sticks in .40?
  23. I have the SVI fiber rear sight and frankly find it to be a distraction. Because of this, I used a sharpee to blacken the fiber rods. P.S. in USPSA, you aren't supposed to shoot the dark guys
  24. Maybe the 2nd slide couldn't live without the 1st and committed slide-a-cide. Seriously though, even with a similar round count, it does seem unlikely that both would fail within days of each other...
  25. I agree with @yigal slide lightening cuts may not be the sole contributor to the cracking, but they sure didn't help.
