  1. I used an XD9 when I was 12. You can get it to run with light loads pretty easily. Just put in a tungsten guide rod and a Wilson 18 lbs spring and you're ready to go. It also has a fairly small grip that is similar to a 1911. Another good thing is that you can press the mag button from either side. I'm guessing that his hands are not big enough to reach the mag release with his right thumb, (guessing that he's right handed). He can just use his trigger finger instead...
  2. Ding Ding Ding, ah ha. That was defiantly it. Its working like a charm now that I fixed the sight a bit. Thanks a bunch mpeltier.
  3. Maybe, but why would it just start now? I'll check after today's match...
  4. Ya, I thought about that and polished the bottom of the stop with a stone to take off any burrs it might have and it still didn't help. Thanks for the feedback.
  5. I have a 6 inch 2011 with 2 uppers ( 1 in 9mm and 1 in 40). The 40 upper works fine. The problem is with the 9mm upper. When the firing pin stop is in, the slide/upper drags on the frame. When I take the firing pin stop out, the slide moves freely moves on the frame with no drag. There is about 10K rounds on the 9mm upper and the problem just started during the last thousand rounds. I looked at the firing pin stop via the magnifying glass and couldn't detect any cracks. Does anybody know what the problem is or what I should be looking for to diagnose the problem? Is a firing pin stop a drop-in or a gunsmith fitted part? Thanks, Craig
  6. Nice. In my P.E. class we are required to test for all of the Presidential Fitness awards, twice. Man, they are really hard. I am a pretty good athlete and I was only able to get 1 of the 7 or 8 possible awards. It was standing long jump. I remember for the Presidential mile you had to get 6 minutes and 8 seconds for my age group. I didn't have a chance on that, that is haulin... Major congrats to you're son.
  7. Mine- Brazos My dads- Brazos My brothers- Other, Rick McDowell.
  8. Rub it a little, stretch it a little, then put some Icey Hot on it. It should be ready to go once its loosened up a bit...
  9. Ya, you are right about it being worth it to hit the 4 60 yard poppers no matter how long it takes. I set up 2 regular and 2 US poppers at 60 at our house. It took me 5 to 6.5 seconds to shoot them all with a limited gun. I'm guessing that open will be about the same or maybe a bit faster. I haven't been able to check with open though, since my gun is being "tuned" right now. Hopefully it will be back for the weekend...
  10. Sweet, Kimbo is my favorite heavyweight. I can't wait for tonight's episode of T.U.F. I saw the previews and it looks pretty good.
  11. I would get an STI and have it tuned by Brazos or Dawson how you want it. Another option is Les Baer, his will be a little more expensive and it would be a fairly long wait...
  12. +1 Its pretty easy if you have a Dremel tool, soldering iron, and some sand paper.
  13. Ya man, that sucks majorly. At last years Area 3 I chronoed 114 power factor. I was pretty mad at myself for using my left over ammo from the Pro-Am match so that I wouldn't have to chamber check any more. When I chronoed it at my house it got 134 power factor. The reason for that was I thought that I was using 180 gr. bullets, they were actually 165's... I learned a lesson there...
  14. Try getting one of those ring deals that are about the size of a quarter and are on key chains. Attach that to your zipper. Works pretty good for #1...
  15. Nice. lol My dad took the cylinder out of his revo during a stage one time. Its on You Tube some where but I can't find it... It was Pretty funny, the yoke and everything came out and was lying on the ground, he looked up and was trying to holster his gun and stuff, but our RO was telling him to show clear just so we could get a close-up of it...
  16. Ya, we'll be at the Big Dawg for sure. I watched Manny shoot the donuts and he was mad that he had to eat a 3.11 ... See ya at the Pro-Am, looks like you're shooting the same days as us...
  17. I like your 50, 40, 30 idea. Might give it a try for the Big Dawg... My best times last year were 2.67 with open and 2.99 with limited.
  18. Congrats man, Dude you are moving up fast. I just shot a couple classifiers last month that should put me into A class, for some reason they aren't up on the USPSA site though... guess they didn't get sent in... Don't get your hopes up for the high junior award at the Pro-Am though. Just messin, you'll probably destroy me unless I start shooting more often... Later,
  19. Ya, I would get something that will be good for you, but not spend much more money than what you have to, to get what you want. All I want in a gun is: 1.) accurate enough to hit a plate at 50 yards 2.) runs 100% of the time 3.) good sights 4.) good trigger.
  20. I haven't tried the Zero 135's yet. The 125 JHP's work extremely well in My XD9 (5"). They are dead accurate. 125 gr. Zero JHP 4.0 grs. Tite Group 1.130 OAL About 130 power factor if I remember right.
  21. My dad's trigger stud broke and he had it sent back to Smith and Wesson. Make sure to take out all the parts if they have been modified in any way or they will replace them...
  22. Dude, I got to get to practicing if I'm going to have to have a chance to beat you. Ya, I saw that other dude benching, frickin impressive. I can put the 225 up once, its my max. I have surpassed the 320 mark for squat though. Football is right around the corner... See ya, at the Pro-am Nick
  23. Ha, same hear. Then I realized...
  24. Well, I'm not an expert on this stuff but I would believe that slow burners would work best in any situation because of gas. I have also heard, I forgot from who, that the more and the bigger the ports the better.
