  1. When looking at a Thunder Ranch Special 1911..."that was designed by some guy, at some training place. He wanted all the best stuff on it"
  2. That is exactly what I thought...I was never worried. Plus I can't think of any better place to die that wrapped in carbon fiber, leather and german engineering. Mid-ohio...good idea. I'll have to make sure he's out of town that weekend
  3. Sadly I'm not the BE member that owns this beauty...he'll remain anon. for now unless he wants to chime in. I've ridden in plenty of "fast" cars and "race" cars...but this thing accelerates like, nothing I know...0-60 become a silly measure at this level but it is around 3 seconds...all wheel drive, 530 HP, twin turbos, 7 speed auto/paddle, carbon brakes...and it all seems to get to the ground. I've been in love with the 911/930 Turbos since the mid eighties - high school days. So getting to ride in this thing is really a bucket list thing. I'm not sure what kind of insurance it would require but... Anyway it is incredible to ride around in it and get to take photos...which I plan on doing a lot. Shooting this thing is like photo-crack...I need it at sunrise, sunset, track day....we took it down to Buds Friday night but I didn't see anyone I knew of course. It is a tricky color to photo especially in the sun. It is a metallic black and reflects everything - think black mirror. SO I ended up processing some of these a bit more than I usually do. But practive makes perfect and I think we'll be doing it a lot huh, M? Enjoy.
  4. Really sorry to hear that. Being there for them at that specific moment is one of the greatest things you can do for someone. Thanks for doing that for them.
  5. Overly expensive? HK. Because you suck, and we hate you. I mean when you really break it down it is only doing the job of a old torch, with a stick and rag...provides light and you can whack some one if needed. I think I'd go for the cocobolo torch please. NO COMPROMISE
  6. "no compromise" Oh wait that was someone else's tag. I don't know much about their knives but their lights are the HK of lights...IMO.
  7. From pocket onto night stand, which will at least get me to small "top button" safe... BUT, just yesterday I went to open the little bugger and it won't open! Correct sequence but it isn't releasing the latch! Once I get this thing open I'll be seeking another brand I'm thinking. My initial reaction was to slam it forcefully to the ground...them brain kicked in and yelled STOP! I also recommend locking your bedroom door at night.
  8. I'll have to be riding my bike to matches this year Yes that one <<<<
  9. And on the DR I guess I misspoke a bit. I shoot RAW and finish in LR3 so I guess I mean the files are pleasantly workable
  10. Not just to be contrary, but I rarely have issues with the auto focus. It isn't as snappy as a 1 series but I really don't think I miss much I'm shooting at. FWIW I don't do much bird in flight stuff though...but sports...no worries. There are too few focus points too...but the other stuff is kind fluffy...button placement, etc... I like the dual cards but...would also like some serious weather proofing. So I shall still say...meh. And to be fair, I'm not overly giddy about the 1DX either. They are both improvements within their product line...but I'm still happiest that they'll drive down the used prices. I get such huge dynamic range from the 5D mark 2 I'm not sure how much they can improve...remember when you bought that 40MB drive? "I'll never need bigger than this!" norbs...they biggest improvement you'll see will be that beautiful full frame goodness :-) over the 1.6 or even 1.3 Hurry up then and buy one so we can get a real range report! Edited at add rant about their new flash too...$650!..I like the RF system but I'm already invested in triggers. Let's see those used 580's keep dropping too!
  11. I'm happy about the release but only because I don't think it is much of an upgrade from my 5D2. It has a newer processor and longer video clip capabilities but not worth the extra dough to me...more of a version 2.5 than 3.0 if you're askin me. You can buy a very nice used Mark 2 for around $2K now..even less if you don't mind a little milage. I'll pick up another instead of a Mark 3...and likely a 1DSMKII even before the 3. Not that Megapixels are the ultimate water mark BUT increasing from 21 to 22...I don't think that is worth mentioning in the ads. ymmv
  12. I'm out of dillo dust...better buy some new optics soon.
  13. If you go digital again...we've got high ISO's (errr ASA for us old guys)...I remember when 800 came out...WOW. The ability to change ISO on the fly, shot to shot still blows my mind. That big ole 1.2 85L is a LOT of heavy glass to be moving fast. I feel the force with this lens...must resist buying..must resist... D., lets see those pics from the park.
  14. Might be worth a trip to Il. Let me know when you get ready to get rid of them please. Good luck!
  15. pillow tops hurt my back with all the uneven divots...just doesn't make sense to me. I'm in the firmer is better camp...
  16. I think that's only in regard to Madagascar. It is the top pred of the island. And yes they were the bad guys in the disney films...and in a lot of the local lore as well. Some think if you are good you will come back as a lemur, if bad a Fosa. I'd rather be a Fosa anyway
  17. bump for you guys to watch this video...NOT a rick-roll I promise I promise I promise I promise.
  18. Sorry Luke...I'll get teary when they name one Danger Congratulations dude! Member Cryptoprocta (dang that name is hard to spell) Dr. Luke Dollar getting recognized for his research efforts with the Madagascar predator the Fosa....or Fossa. Zoo names new baby for him. Be sure to watch the video. http://www.news-press.com/article/20120208/NEWS0119/302080019/Fosa-foursome-can-found-Naples-Zoo Just goes to show you we can hug trees and aspire to dominate three gun at the same time! 19. How about laying it gently on the (carpeted) table instead of "dumping" it....also remind everyone that they are playing with a firearm with a worth = to their car and a whole lot harder to come by... I would also limit the number of rounds in the MP5 mags to 5-10 that way you have little to worry about with inexperienced users and the host MP5 doesn't get overly abused by a bunch of mag dumps. Sounds fun though
  20. 18" of fresh...I'd be driving up to Summit county instead of enjoying my fine driveway :-) Jealous on two fronts...

    Shooters Math

When I played golf I used similar math. I got twice as many strokes (twice the play time) on almost anyone I played
