  1. i can't make out what's going on in this pic. lynn mag in backward...and a serious "chicken wing" going on...
  2. Yep Leuopold (sp) Mark 4 CQT 1-3x...just like mine but backwards...I don't think I look that good using it though. I do love the scope FWIW...the reticle is soooo sweet...it changes from "yellowish" to black depending on the background/target. It is a tad heavy...but what to I care...it is on my HK G3...if you worry about weight the G3 is NOT your friend.
  3. I'm very sorry to hear this. I lost my wife 2 years ago to overian cancer at age 40. The one thing everyone says (and I hated hearing) was that time helps. Well...sort of. Your pain will change and maybe lessen somewhat but it will always be with you. It was good for me to go to a few greif sessions to hear others. I know this sounds awful...it isn't pleasant but I found others benefited from my story as much as I benefited from them. another thing to keep in mind is to take care of yourself...eat and sleep when you can...you have a long row to hoe, but you have to keep going. Pulling a trigger at the range has helped a lot...I wouldn't worry about the groups for a while just release the stress. Eventually people will say stupid things to you like "aren't you over that yet" and "you need to get going with your life" Just realize that most of these people just really don't know what to say and are probably just trying to help (or make themselves feel better)...it can pi$$ you off though...still does for me sometimes...and yes I would like to get over it, too. You have to do things in your own time and try to keep going. That doesn't mean you won't have days where you can't physically move from the pain...yes it can be physical...I felt like I was kicked in the nuts everyday for months...but everyone is different..no right...no wrong. If you want/need more feel free to email me...it may be in profile...or at JTQ@one.net Good luck and God's Speed. hk_mtbr
  4. Computer nerd, graphic designer, photog...mostly web video producer now...no not that kind of videos...for a financial research company not nearly as exciting as those "other" web videos Used to do private OSHA/EPA consulting...talk about being the bad guy...nobody likes the safety guy "no really we're here to help" Used to aspire to be pro-mountain biker...
  5. just wanted to take a moment to say thanks to all the experts here for helping us NOOBs out.
  6. Smart-azz Well...I guess the bean soup worked. I just ordered a .40...I didn't get an STI or a SVI or other "popular" ipsc gun. I traded a couple of HK pistols that were gathering dust for a new Sig x5 comp in .40. They have fairly high cap mags...factory 14's with custom baseplates to accommodate at least 16 rounds and in some cases 18 from what I have read. I am a bit of a contrarian I suppose but I would also like to see them gain popularity in the US. As I have the x5 in 9mm and really love the gun, I wanted to keep with what works for me...user fit and reliablity (so far). I guess complaining about expensive mags would be silly at this stage, so I'll save that. This winter I'll be working on technique etc and hopefully the 40 will prove as sweet as the 9mm. See you in the box (hula hoop) hk_mtbr
  7. Not meaning to hijack thread but what is gaming a stage? tia HK_MTBR
  8. I guess I'm stuck wearing the clothes of a computer nerd...dang...I knew I should've been a fireman.
  9. anyone using the ultimate camo...shirt and tie?
  10. Since you are application agnostic, HKPro puts on a great MP5 operators course. I had no idea how wrong one could be in the correct operation of a weapon...changed my life...:-) The course covered control of weapon, trigger technique, failure drills (including changing to sidearm) and moving/shooting. Tom is a great guy and instructor. And...amazing shooter...30 round mag dump into 3" target...saw it with my own eyes or I wouldn't have believed it. He traveled to Central KY from MO for the class. i think he has a minimum of 8 and max of 10-12 students. I will probably try to go to another session next year.
  11. thanks for the info. I will continue with the x5 for now. It really fits me better than of my other handguns and in cycling fit accounts for a lot...not that I would ride a huffy (sorry about the bike snobbery) even if it fit... because of quality/durability/weight... As far as sexy, I went for the understated Tactical x5...sexy in a dark way...shoot one and they feel sexy too
  12. Is there cardboard-style camo...I wouldn't wear that at the range for sure... I can see not looking like a paramilitary type
  13. Not that i would wear camo at a match but I'm just curious as to why not. The only camo I have only gets used for hunting...scent control...
  14. OK I am a total noob when it comes to practical pistol matches...I have shot 3 and all within the last 2 months but I feel the addiction growing. Right now I am shooting a Sig x5 9mm in limited. I love this gun and don't want to change...and since it is SAO I can't shoot production as I understand it. My thought is that I need to work on my accuracy and by using a 9mm that I will be forced into it by really trying to shoot only a's. Honestly I didn't realize the points penalty when I started but have accepted it. My goal isn't to go "pro" but to get a handle on it and then maybe move up in class, speed etc. Is this totally crazy?? ...must not buy a souped-up 45 must not buy a souped-up 45 must not buy a souped-up 45 must not buy a souped-up 45 must not buy a souped-up 45... thanks hk_mtbr ps.sorry about post in wrong thread
